SCOUTING THE REDHAWKS Southeast brings a 19-6 overall record and a 14-2 conference mark into the week. The Redhawks posted a 53-43 win at UT Martin in their 07-08 road finale. Leading Southeast is senior forward/center Missy Whitney with 14.2 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per contest, while junior guard/forward Sonya Daugherty is second in scoring at 13.1 points a game. Ranking first on the team in assists (3.0 apg) and steals (2.1 spg) is junior guard Tarina Nixon who has also connected on a team-best 81 percent from the free-throw line. The Lady Govs begin a four-game road trip this week after dropping a 69-52 decision to Tennessee Tech last Saturday in their regular-season home finale. Sophomore center Janay Armstrong, a transfer from West Virginia, leads APSU with 11.6 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game. Freshman guard/forward Ashley Herring is averaging 10.5 points and 1.5 assists per game in her first collegiate season. Herring is the younger sister of Southeast men s basketball player Jaycen Herring. Senior point guard Ashlee McGee leads the OVC in assists with an average of 4.9 helpers per game. Carrie Daniels is currently in her second season as head coach for Austin Peay and has produced a 15-40 record at her alma mater. SERIES HISTORY The Redhawks have tallied a 21-15 all-time series lead over Austin Peay and have claimed wins in six of the last eight meetings since 2004-05. Southeast captured the season s first meeting with the Lady Govs on Jan. 12 by a score of 70-54 in Clarksville, Tenn. The Redhawks posted a pair of victories at the Show Me Center last year by an average of 7.5 points per game that included a 67-56 win during the regular season. REDHAWKS VS. THE OVC The Redhawks have tallied a lifetime record of 182-130 against members of the Ohio Valley Conference, including a 14-2 conference ledger this season. The Redhawks are the first conference teams since the 2002-03 Austin Peay squad to go undefeated in conference road contests. Marques Binion TURNING TURNOVERS INTO POINTS Southeast continues to utilize its pressure defense over the last five games which would take opponents turnovers and turn them into points on the offensive end. The Redhawks have forced opponents to turn the ball over an average of 21 times which translated into 23.8 points per game for them during that stretch. Last weekend, Southeast tallied 17 points off 23 UT Martin turnovers. HOLDING TEAMS UNDER THE NIFTY FIFTY The Redhawks have posted a 6-0 mark when they hold opponents to under 50 points this season after holding UT Martin to 43 points last Saturday in their regular-season road finale. BALLIN SCHOLARS Southeast produced a big accomplishment outside of the hardwood during the fall 2007 semester. The Redhawks posted a cumulative grade point average of 3.36 in the fall in which 12 of the 13 players on the roster accumulated a GPA of 3.0 or higher. NIXON GAINS TOP THREE SPOT ON SOUTHEAST S CAREER TREYS LIST... Junior Tarina Nixon is moving closer to claiming Southeast s career record for three-pointers this season. She now holds down the third-place mark in school history with 119 made treys entering the week. Nixon is four threes shy of equaling the second-place mark of former Redhawk Natalie Purcell s (2004-06) 123 trifectas. AND MOVES INTO TOP 10 FOR CAREER STEALS Nixon also posted three steals last Saturday at UT Martin to move into the school s top 10 all-time list with 135 career thefts. STREAKING FROM DOWNTOWN The Redhawks have continued to utilize the three-point shot in their offense this season as they are rated among the NCAA Division I leaders for consecutive threes made in a game. Southeast has hit at least one trey in 306 straight contests since the 1997-98 season. The last time the Redhawks were held without a three in a game was Jan. 14, 1998 in a home contest against Tennessee State. BLUNT EARNS ACADEMIC ALL DISTRICT HONORS Junior forward Rachel Blunt was recently selected to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA)/ESPN The Magazine Academic All District First Team for District 7 as voted on by the members of CoSIDA. The Dexter, Mo., native currently maintains a perfect 4.0 grade point average while majoring in Sport Management and earned the Ohio Valley Conference Medal of Honor for the second year in a row last fall.

Lost 5 SOUTHEAST INKS FOUR PLAYERS FOR 2008-09 SEASON Head coach John Ishee announced the signing of four players to National Letters of Intent in mid-november to play at Southeast starting with the 2008-09 season. Joining the Redhawks next year will be guard Bianca Beck (St. Louis, Mo.), forward Trevonna Cannon (Paramount, Calif.), forward/center Amber Holmes (San Antonio, Texas) and forward Victoria Smith (East St. Louis, Ill.). WHITNEY EARNS PRESEASON OVC POY ACCOLADES The Ohio Valley Conference honored senior Missy Whitney during the conference s annual Media Day on Oct. 10 when she was named the Preseason OVC Player of the Year. She averaged 13.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game last season en route to being earning Second Team All-OVC and OVC All-Newcomer honors. REDHAWKS PICKED TO WIN OVC TITLE IN PRESEASON POLL Southeast was been picked to capture the 2007-08 Ohio Valley Conference title in the conference s annual preseason poll on Oct. 10. The poll was compiled by the conference s 11 head coaches and sports information directors with Southeast claiming 199 points and 19 firstplace votes. Last season, the Redhawks were tabbed fifth in the poll before capturing the OVC regular-season and tournament titles for the second consecutive season. INTERNATIONAL FLAVOR Southeast has had players in the past come to campus from various international countries, including New Zealand, Brazil, Australia, Jamaica and Scotland. This year is no different as two current Redhawks hail from Europe which include redshirt junior guard Mathilde Dufour (France) and junior guard Szandra Pál (Hungary).
