2 DMSC SHORT SHOTS Land Transfer: As part of the bridge replacement project on Linden Rd, PennDOT has offered to buy 300 square feet of club property along Linden road. If the club does not sell the property, then PennDOT will file for eminent domain to take the property. Club Bylaws require any transfer of real estate to be approved by the membership at a membership meeting. This proposal will be presented and voted on the October membership meeting. Chili-off: The October meeting will feature the annual Chili-off contest. Contact Ted Hildabrand if you would like to submit your chili recipe for the contest: tkhaquariusnetwk@gmail.com or 724-942-2125 New Club House: The plans to build a new club house will be briefly discussed the October membership meeting, and preliminary drawing will also be available for review. Dues News:. 2018 dues are now being accepted. New rates are listed in the adjacent Dues News section. Board of Directors: Annual election of Directors is coming up in November. See page 3 for details. Range Safety Officer Training: DMSC will be holding training classes to certify members as NRA Range Safety Officers. See page 6 for details NRA Whittington Center Grant: A grant has been established to help send a deserving youth to the NRA Whittington Center in New Mexico. Applications must be received by November 30. See pages 4-5 for details Sight-in Day: The annual club sight-in day event will be held November 19th from 9am-2pm. Donations this year will benefit the Washington County Young Marines. DUES NEWS Dues for 2018 are being accepted October 1st through January 31. TWO-GUN Competition Coming to DMSC in 2018 New in 2018 is the expansion of the America s Rifle Challenge Program (ARC) here at DMSC to now include a 2-gun match. A proposal was submitted and approved in early October that creates additional matches utilizing both a pistol and rifle throughout a series of stages that define the ARC Program. Plans are being developed and refined presently, and throughout the next few months these plans will be revealed in upcoming issues of the newsletter and at club meetings. ARC has been part of the DMSC landscape for the past two years. Enthusiasm for the program has been strong and participation is growing ARC offers a fresh and exciting opportunity to participate in a formal program that incorporates marksmanship, challenge, and a whole lot of fun. In 2018 the ARC program will expand to include Clinics, Basic Matches, Advanced Matches, and now a 2-Gun Match. STAY TUNED TO THIS CHANNEL FOR FURTHER UPDATES.

4 The Dormont Mt. Lebanon Sportsmen s Club George Taylor IV NRA Whittington Center - Youth Adventure Camp Grant The Club has established The Dormont Mt. Lebanon Sportsmen s Club - George Taylor IV - NRA Whittington Center - Youth Adventure Camp Grant. The purpose of this Grant is to subsidize a 13-17 year old individual whose parent, grandparent or legal guardian is a member of the Dormont Mt. Lebanon Sportsmen s Club (DMSC) so that the individual can attend the NRA-Youth Adventure Camp. The NRA Youth Adventure Camp is at the 30,000 acre NRA Whittington Center, located in Raton, New Mexico. Camp dates reserved for the 2018 Camp session are June 24 July 6, 2018. During their session attendees will fire numerous types of firearms, attend training on firearm safety, shooting fundamentals, wilderness survival and hunting safety. The cost of attending the Camp is $1,100.00. DMSC will subsidize ½ - the cost of attendance- $550.00- and provide an additional $300.00 for expenses for a total of $850.00 The Individual must first complete the DMSC Application. If awarded the DMSC Grant, the NRA Whittington Center Youth Adventure Camp Application must then be completed. DMSC Grant Applications are available online through a link at the DMSC Website. 6 NRA Certified Range Safety Officer Training DMSC is offering a course that will lead to becoming a certified Range Safety Officer. The course will be conducted on Sunday November 5, 2017 in the clubhouse from 7AM until 5:30 PM. The class will cover a variety of topics relating to conducting and supervising safe shooting activities and range operations. The course consists of classroom instruction, individual practice to conduct safety briefings, practical experience with range operations, firearms stoppages and malfunctions, as well as firearms familiarization. Participants are required to complete an open book test with a 90% score and will last 9 hours. The cost will be $30 for club members and $90 for non-members. This includes the cost of instruction, course material, lunch and refreshments. Additional costs will also need to be paid to the NRA for processing and maintaining certification. April September The Civilian Marksmanship Program rifle matches occur the third Sunday of every month January - October. Matches begin at 11 AM. 200 yard match. 2014 season begins March 8. Matches begin at 9 AM. March - October Our champion smallbore team practices every Sunday at 7 PM Trap shooting occurs every Tuesday starting at 6pm. The season runs April - October The season runs January - March. The shooters participate and shoot concurrent with the indoor open shoots on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday This program typically takes place in June and November.
