Robinson) shifted out shortly after the start and contacted SIR GILES (A. Herrmann). SOCIAL GAZE (M. Neilson) shifted in shortly after the start and brushed THE VISIONARY (J. Potter). SIR GILES (A. Herrmann) raced wide without cover in the early and middle stages of the event. In the vicinity of the 800 metres ROLLING STONES (D. Tourneur) shifted in and inconvenienced THE VISIONARY (J. Potter), which was obliged to steady. SIR GILES (A. Herrmann) laid in and shifted in under pressure over the concluding stages of the event. SIR GILES and UNCLE SEE SAW were examined by the Club s Veterinary Surgeon who reported no visible abnormalities. RACE 2 : PRIDHAM FAMILY TRUST / SABOIS FILLIES & MARES MAIDEN PLATE 1100 metres The start of this race was delayed approximately two minutes owing to the ambulance personnel having to attend to a Stablehand in the mounting enclosure. CHAMPAGNE JOURNEY (L. Stojakovic) reared on jumping away and as a consequence began awkwardly. HYPNOTIC BLITZ (J. Matthews) jumped away awkwardly, shifted out and contacted LITTLE LUCKY (S. RACE 2 : PRIDHAM FAMILY TRUST / SABOIS FILLIES & MARES MAIDEN PLATE 1100 metres (Cont d) TWILIGHT REEF (M. Neilson) raced wide without cover in the early stages of the race. POLLY GARTER (C. Lindop) was held up for clear running for a short distance rounding the home turn when racing in tight room to the inside of MEADOWS MAID (M. Tyndall) and on the heels of TWILIGHT REEF (M. Neilson). SCOOP THE LOT (H. McKechnie) raced greenly throughout the event. LITTLE LUCKY was examined by the Club s Veterinary Surgeon who reported a lower than expected heart rate. RACE 3 : STRATH PHARMACIES / SABOIS DISTANCE MAIDEN PLATE 2050 metres Passing the winning post on the first occasion, in the vicinity of the 1800 metres, GINDRINKA (M. Neilson) shifted in and crossed the running of DEED OF HONOR (C. Lions), which had a tendency to over-race, resulting in DEED OF HONOR having to be steadied to avoid the heels of GINDRINKA. M. Neilson was reprimanded and advised to take greater care in future when shifting ground. BOOLCUNDA GOLD (D. Tourneur) raced wide without cover in the middle stages of the event. In the vicinity of the 800 metres when GINDRINKA (M. Neilson) commenced to weaken, BERLUSCONI (H. McKechnie) became awkwardly placed on the heels of that gelding and was obliged to alter course to its outside to obtain clear running. STORMING NORTH (L. Stojakovic) faltered in the underfoot conditions over the concluding stages of the race. D. Tourneur, the rider of BOOLCUNDA GOLD, reported his mount hung out throughout the event and got its tongue over the bit. M. Neilson, the rider of GINDRINKA, reported his mount hung out during the event. GINDRINKA was examined by the Club s Veterinary Surgeon who reported the gelding to be lame in the off hind leg. Mr. J. Dunn, the Trainer of GINDRINKA, was advised a Veterinary Certificate of Fitness would be required prior to presenting for a future trial or race. RACE 4 : FRANCIS GROUP OF HOTELS / SABOIS MAIDEN PLATE 1350 metres The start of this race was delayed approximately one minute owing to a number of horses having to be examined by the Club s Veterinary Surgeon. AKHA ROSE, which became fractious in the mounting enclosure and dislodged its rider, S. Rowley, was examined by the Club s Veterinary Surgeon on arrival at the barriers and ruled fit to race. S. Rowley was examined by the on-course ambulance personnel and ruled fit to fulfil her riding engagement. FLYTASTIC, which was kicked by another runner on arrival at the barriers, was examined by the Club s Veterinary Surgeon and ruled fit to race. On arrival at the barriers HARAMI was examined by the Club s Veterinary Surgeon following a request by its rider D. Tootell and ruled fit to race. RACE 4 : FRANCIS GROUP OF HOTELS / SABOIS MAIDEN PLATE 1350 metres (Cont d) THE NUN S STORY (H. McKechnie) jumped away awkwardly, shifted out and contacted HARAMI (D. Tootell). WOTZITWORTH (S. Westover) jumped away awkwardly. ELECTRIC CIRCUS (D. Tourneur) jumped away awkwardly and shifted in at the same time as FLYTASTIC (C. Lindop) jumped away awkwardly and shifted out, resulting in RESCUED (M. Neilson) being tightened between these two runners and contacting ELECTRIC CIRCUS. MURTAGH (J. Potter) and LIL PEBBLES (S. Price) brushed shortly after the start when both horses shifted ground. WOTZITWORTH (S. Westover) raced wide without cover in the early and middle stages of the event. In the vicinity of the 800 metres DUBAI SUNRISE (M. Hoppo) shifted in and inconvenienced AKHA ROSE (S. Rowley), which got its head up and raced ungenerously for a number of strides. S. Westover, the rider of WOTZITWORTH, reported his mount hung out throughout the event. WOTZITWORTH was examined by the Club s Veterinary Surgeon who reported nonsignificant bruising to both sides of the mouth. RACE 5 : RAH RESEARCH / SABOIS FILLIES & MARES CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1350 metres Stewards granted permission for Jockey D. Robinson to ride WELL SAID half a kilogram overweight. KUITPO BLAZE (C. Lindop) knuckled shortly after the start. RUB DOUBT (D. Tourneur) shifted out at the start and brushed with ARCTIC CASH (J. Potter). As a consequence RUB DOUBT shifted in and away from ARCTIC CASH at the same time as JEUNE GLASS (H. McKechnie) jumped away awkwardly and shifted out, making contact with RUB DOUBT, which became unbalanced. RACE 6 : RAINE & HORNE STRATHALBYN CLASS 1 HANDICAP - 1600 metres Acting on a confirmed telephone call from Mr. J. MacMillan, the Trainer of HOLY SHEMOLEY, that the mare had become cast in her box and was unfit to race, Stewards withdrew HOLY SHEMOLEY at 9.13 am. TEAM LAGO (A. Herrmann) raced wide without cover in the middle stages of the event. SHE S ELVIS (H. McKechnie) and MEADOWS MAGIC (M. Tyndall) became held up for clear running for a short distance in the vicinity of the 400 metres. Correct Weight for this event was delayed to allow H. McKechnie, the rider of the third placegetter SHE S ELVIS, to view the official footage from in the vicinity of the home turn. RACE 6 : RAINE & HORNE STRATHALBYN CLASS 1 HANDICAP - 1600 metres (Cont d) P. Marks, the rider of BREDLIGN (NZ), explained he was satisfied with the position in running he obtained in the early stages of the event and added that after having considered the racing pattern earlier in the day he had every intention to be forward in this event. He stated from inside the 800 metres, when the leader increased the pace, he was unable to maintain his position and was under a hard ride and the gelding failed to respond to his riding. He added it was his opinion the gelding did not handle the heavy track conditions. BREDLIGN (NZ) was examined by the Club s Veterinary Surgeon who reported no visible abnormalities. RACE 7 : MAIDMENTS MEAT RATING 0-68 HANDICAP - 1350 metres GRAND TITLE, which was kicked by another runner on arrival at the barriers, was examined by the Club s Veterinary Surgeon and ruled fit to start. The start of this race was delayed approximately two minutes owing to a number of horses proving difficult to load. RACE MEMORY (C. Lions) and OUR FREED MAN (D. Evans) came together shortly after the start and contacted, resulting in RACE MEMORY losing its position. SHIMANO MISS (NZ) (T. Pannell) jumped away awkwardly, shifted in and contacted COPPER ARCH (S. Westover). ROAD TO FINNISS (T. Baker) jumped away awkwardly, got its head up and made contact with GRAND TITLE (H. McKechnie) to its inside. VISUAL IMPACT (J. Maund) raced keenly in the early stages of the event. Inside the 1000 metres COPPER ARCH (S. Westover) commenced to give ground resulting in OUR FREED MAN (D. Evans) being hampered and taken wider to avoid the heels of that gelding. Thereafter COPPER ARCH, which was eased out of the event by its rider, broke through the inside running rail and dislodged its rider. S. Westover was examined by the oncourse medical staff who reported he was uninjured. S. Westover explained he felt something amiss with the gelding inside the 1000 metres and eased it out of the event. COPPER ARCH was examined by the Club s Veterinary Surgeon who reported very pale mucous membranes and the horse had died probably from a ruptured aorta. From in the vicinity of the 500 metres until near the 100 metres ROAD TO FINNISS (T. Baker) was held up for clear running, where it was obliged to shift out to obtain clear ground. RACE 8 : ABERDEEN PARK CLASS 2 HANDICAP - 1200 metres SING OR SWIM (W. Kerford) was slow to begin. AMBITIOUS BRIDE (H. McKechnie) knuckled in the going approaching the 800 metres. ICONSEEFRAARAWAY (J. Matthews) was held up for clear running from in the vicinity of the 400 metres until near the entrance to the straight when racing on the heels of MEADOWS DAN (M. Hoppo). On return to Scale it was established that the near side blinker cup fitted to AMBITIOUS BRIDE (H. McKechnie) had detached from the blinkers during the event. The blinkers were inspected and found to be in a satisfactory condition. Stewards were unable to determine the cause for the cup becoming detached. RACE 8 : ABERDEEN PARK CLASS 2 HANDICAP - 1200 metres (Cont d) H. McKechnie, the rider of AMBITIOUS BRIDE, explained the mare did not handle the underfoot conditions today.
