ONGOING WORK New York District Groin work in Long Beach is complete Entering the groin condition monitoring phase Groins are functioning as intended Beach and staging area clean-up is starting this week Terminal groin in Point Lookout will require 4 more months of work Work has been delayed by redesign work and contracting process Project has trucked in 250,000 tons of stone (500,000,000 lbs) 3

UPCOMING WORK FOR CONTRACT 2 Around 4 million cubic yards of sand for beach and dune, hydraulically pumped onto the beach Vehicle and pedestrian dune cross-overs Dune plantings and sand fencing In Point Lookout, dune positioning requires the demolition, relocation, and reconstruction of the sun shelter Optional items that may be constructed if paid for by non-federal sources Ipe wood and matching aluminum pipe railing for the four widest boardwalk cross-overs in City of Long Beach Pile driving for future comfort stations and life guard facilities in City of Long Beach 4

SAND PLACEMENT The low bidder was Great Lakes Dredge and Dock Corporation. Bids were opened on 8 March 2018, contract was officially awarded April 16th, 2018 for $51M (100% Federal Funding) Pile driving for the walk overs will be the first increment of construction-no schedule limitations in contract Beach closures for sand placement will be in moving 1000 ft increments (for scale, the groins are approximately 800 feet apart) We don t yet know when the dredge contractor will arrive. The contractor will present a work plan shortly. We don t yet know where they intend to start sand work. This information will be in the contractor s work plan. 5

CROSS-OVERS 30 ft wide crossovers @ New York, National, Riverside, and Neptune-10 ft wide for all others All existing access points will have equivalent access All crossovers will be ADA compliant Existing Ramps will be left in place for access until new crossover is completed 18

All cross overs will be constructed with Grade 1 Southern Pine Specifications Section 06 13 33 All framing lumber including headers, stringers, pile caps, decking & stairs shall be treated southern yellow pine. Each piece of treated lumber or timber shall be branded, by the producer, in accordance with AWPA U1AWPA M6. Treat all piles, wood in contact with the ground, and all pier cross bracing in accordance with AWPA U1 UC5A Chromated Copper Arsenate (Minimum Retention of 2.5 pcf). Treat all other timber in accordance with AWPA U1 UC4C with CCA - Chromated Copper Arsenate (Minimum Retention of 0.6 pcf). The Contractor shall be responsible for the quality of treated wood products. 19
