Easter Activity Day Please find poster at the end of this newsletter with information on an activity day being held at Lodge Hill on Friday 12 th April 10.30am until 3.30pm. Downview s Got Talent & Comic Relief A big thank you to all the children who took part in the show and to everyone who contributed to Comic Relief. Well done to Year 3 who raised 55.30 during their recent Around the World Fayre towards this making the final total 340.87. Thank you for your support. As part of DGT Downview staff did the Harlem Shake! Watch out for them soon on Youtube. Healthy Living Club As part of our Healthy Living project Mrs Goatcher and her Year 6 team organised for the whole school to take part in a Street Dance Day on Thursday 14 th March. All children had a fantastic day and had fun keeping fit. The day was rounded off with trophies, medals and certificates being awarded to the entrants of the recent Healthy Living competition to create a healthy dish. The shield for the best recipe was awarded to Lola Handson, year 1. We will be selling fruit at school next Thursday, 21 st March during KS2 breaktime. Swimming Gala Well done to our Downview Swimming Squad who recently took part in a local swimming gala! 14 local schools from the Felpham, Bognor and Chichester area competed in heats and then the final on 27 th February at the Arun Leisure Centre. Downview finished in 5 th place overall. Our girls team were Abby Swanton, Katie Mayger, Megan Riley, Abi Pacey and Katie Powell and the boys were; Joshua Stevenson, Ben Taylor, Brad Smith and Thomas Robinson. Netball A Team by Thomas Pullen and Izzy Saunders On the 9 th March at the Arena Downview Netball team tried really hard to win the tournament. The players in team A were Izzy Saunders, Thomas Pullen, Josh Stevenson, Bradley Smith, Amy Franklin, Isobel Wiltshire and Abby Swanton. Our first match was against Southway and we won 10-0. It was a great match both schools eager to win their first match. To be fair we destroyed them! The next match was against Edward Bryant (our rivals from the first match ever played) it was a tough one. It ended being a draw Mrs Ward didn t like that. Next we played Bishop Tufnell we had a quick break to discuss our tactics and this paid off because we won! In the Semi-final we played against Rose Green and won by one goal. We couldn t believe we had got through to the final - we were on fire and were outstanding! Our last match was against Edward Bryant and we were psyched to win. Our team were pushing themselves to the limit and trying really hard. It was so close but eventually after an extra minute of play we won! We were really proud of ourselves; however we couldn t have done anything without Mrs Ward and Mrs Polhill (the best coaches ever!). Netball B Team by Emily McNestrie The B Team also played at the tournament at the Arena. All the schools there were a great sport and we all tried our best. Both the A and B teams went through to the final. We played against St Mary s but sadly we lost. But we all played really well. The B team players were Katie Powell, Kieran Robbins, Megan Riley, Sasha Jenkins, Ben Purkis, Emily McNestrie, Sammy Ranaboldo and Fin Timms.

Both teams played brilliantly and displayed some excellent sportsmanship. Year 6 made it through to the semi-final and after a well fought game lost out by one goal. The year 5's semi-final was very tense and had to go to extra time, but the boys kept pushing and made it to the final. After yet another super football match they too just missed being victorious by one goal. Well done to all the boys who took part you did Downview proud. In the year 6 team the players were; Mark Brooks, Jake Miles, Sam Bell, Luke Kearns, Jay Cockaday and Josh Chiddle. The year 5 team was made up of; Josh Mines, Zac Cogger, Jacob Booth, Jake Harper, Elliott Clarke and Daniel Kearns. Dance Time Congratulations to our amazing Year 5 and 6 Dance Time Club who performed on Friday 8 th March at Worthing Pavilion Theatre their dance James Bond a most dynamic and exciting performance in front of an audience of 600. Thank you to all teachers and teaching assistants for giving up their time to support the children at these events and for parents for coming along too. Family Maths Challenge 6 There are exactly nine 2-digit numbers which have two digits the same: 11, 22,..., 99. How many 3-digit numbers have two digits the same? Family Maths Challenge 5 - Answer Answer: 5 totally clear days and 15 half and half. In the 15 half and half days: 7 out of 12 of the clear mornings were followed by rain, 8 out of 13 of the clear afternoons were preceded by rain. Therefore Kenny was on vacation for 20 days. Congratulations to Ben Purkis for completing this challenge.
