OUR TENNIS CLINIC PLAYERS HAD A WONDERFUL WEEK OVER EASTER ETI WORLD ISSUE 21, APRIL/MAY 2018 The Caloundra complex has been a hive of activity since our last issue. We had the finish of our awesome Orange and Red Ball competitions, we had many of our elite juniors playing in tournaments across Queensland, Coastal District trials, and then we had the showpiece of the holidays with our fantastic Easter Tennis Clinic. All of this and more are covered in this bumper issue. We now look forward to the rest of 2018. Our r ed ba ll leg endsan Willia dy Mather ms & Eva Check out page 5 for a big end of May HOTSHOTS tournament. Come along for a great day of tennis and BBQ lunch Also see page 7 to meet Jett Macknamara

EASTER HOLIDAY TENNIS CLINIC The Easter Clinic was held in the second week of the school holidays. A super group of keen tennis players took part in all the fun and games. There was plenty of great tennis and plenty of smiles. The clinic had it all, the speed radar, ball machine, coaching on all shots, games, prizes and a monster party to end. Congratulations to all the kids for the effort levels and Nunc cursus magna quis their great play. Congratulations to our group winnersalexander Kotsirilos, Corey Smith, Emily Creamer, Tully Hesse, Leo Taylor and Nikita Baldwin. Also, congrats to Leo Taylor (pictured left), who won the racquet give-away. We can t wait for the next holiday clinic! 2

ORANGE BALL FINAL S DAY Congratulations to all our Orange Ball players on there comp this this season. Many of these players were playing their first real scoring tennis matches and their court awareness, confidence in their scoring ability and their general hitting quality have improved enormously. This has been most evident over the past three weeks. In the most amazing of finishes, Jett Macknamara took out the competition after a monster playoff over Angus Boath. Both players finished on 76 points for the comp. Great credit to both players and terrific sportsmanship from Angus after what would have been a tough loss. Jett MaGuire finished in third spot with 70 points. All players can check out their final score and position at www.elitetennisinternational.com Special thanks to Eva, who does a wonderful job as supervisor. Our next comp begins immediately, commencing May 16. Newcomer s welcome 3

RED BALL FINAL S DAY We have a new Queen of Red Ball Tennis! Eva Williams, at the tender age of 7, has won her first Friday night Pizza Capers Red Ball competition. Eva finished with a grand total of 240 points won for the term, which equates to that amount of actual tennis points won over the duration of the comp. Andrew Mather came in second place on 236 with some fantastic tennis all term. Cooper Finlay was third on 224 with Madelyn Cairns 214. All players can check out their final score and position at www.elitetennisinternational.com This competition is such a great introduction to match play and is run so well by the ever-popular coach, Jenny and her amazing helper, Eva. Thanks for a great term coaches! Well done to all players on a great season, with special thanks to Kim and her great team at Pizza Capers for all their support and yummy food each Friday night. We now look forward to a new great comp, commencing Friday May 11. 4

Matts Tip of the Month: LPC Learn: Practice: Compete: The best and quickest way to improve is to learn a skill, practice that skill then compete and try to use that skill under competitive pressure Learn is your lessons Practice, is coming to the courts to hit with your friends or family, hire a court or the ball machine to practice those skills. Compete, is your comps either during the week or on the weekend or even tournaments; using your new skills in match pressure is the best way to improve that skill if it works under match pressure then it works and you have mastered that skill!!
