A copy of the papers must be lodged at the time of registration with P(UK). A copy of the Pure Breed registration paper is required for all animals registered with any recognised Breed Society, including all registered part breds, if not already lodged. Plaited ponies entering any HOYS qualifier must be in possession of a current JMB height certificate. HORSE/PONY TRANSFER OF OWNERSHIP APPLICATION - valid to 31 st December 2013 Fee: 15.00 The transfer of ownership form must be completed, signed by the purchaser and registered with P(UK) before the transfer is considered complete HORSE/PONY LEASE/LOAN APPLICATION - valid to 31 st December 2013 Fee: 20.00 The horse/pony will not be treated as the property of the lessee/borrower until the lease/loan form has been completed, the remittance has been received by P(UK) and their lease/loan has been registered P(UK) JUDGES MEMBERSHIP valid to 31 st December 2013 Fee: 20.00 This payment is a condition of acceptance for the current Ponies Association (UK) Judges panel Advantages:- Public Liability/Accident Insurance cover whilst OFFICIATING on behalf of the Association at a P(UK) Affiliated Show - 3 -

PONIES ASSOCIATION (UK) RULES AND REGULATIONS 1. All Exhibitors competing at Ponies Association (UK) Shows shall be considered as having read the following Regulations. 2a. Spurs/dress spurs must NOT be worn in any Show Pony/Intermediate Working Hunter/Intermediate Show Hunter Type/Intermediate Show Riding Type/Show Hunter Pony/Working Hunter Pony, M&M-WHP or any Ridden Mountain and Moorland showing class. 2b. In all other classes, including Event Pony, Zenith & Ridden Competition Horse/Pony and Part Bred, (refer to rule 3c), only BLUNT spurs may be used unless the class is run under the auspices of an individual Governing Body when their rules must be conformed to. 3a. Show Canes/Whips are not to exceed 30 (75cms) when, exercising or competing. In Lead Rein classes plain or leather covered canes ONLY may be used. 3b. Any suitable bit/bridle may be used unless otherwise stated 3c. Exhibitors competing in P(UK) classes must only use tack, show canes and whips permissible in P(UK) classes whilst mounted on the showground. Only elasticated side reins may be used when lunging on the showground. 4a. Hats to the approved current BSI standard must be worn and correctly secured at all shows affiliated to Ponies (UK) with the exception of Afternoon Gala Performances, Evening Gala Performances, Costume, and Concours D Elegance classes when current approved BSI Bowlers and Top Hats may be worn by riders who are NOT competing in Lead Rein & First Ridden classes. For classes run under the auspices of an individual Governing Body, their rules must be conformed to. 4b. All Ride Judges officiating under Ponies Association (UK) rules MUST wear a correctly secured hat to the approved current BSI standard at all times whilst mounted. 4c. Any Ride Judge who falls or is thrown whilst judging under P(UK) rules may not continue to ride the exhibits or ride judge any further exhibits on that day. If the Judge is capable of continuing his / her duties then all exhibits in the class must give an individual show (including any exhibit previously ridden). In the event that the Judge is not capable of continuing, an appropriately qualified replacement may be appointed otherwise the class must be abandoned. Please see Guidelines for Affiliated Show Secretaries. 5. All stallions and 2/3 year old colts must hold a current licence (unless otherwise governed by the Individual Breed Society) 6a. Stallions / Colts may not be LED by any Junior who have not attained their 14th birthday before January 1st in the current year at any show affiliated to Ponies Association (UK). 6b. Handlers of horses/ponies competing in Handler & In Hand classes aged 14 years & under must wear a secured current BSI standard Skull/Riding Hat. 7. Any pony stallion not exceeding 138cms OR Small Breed Mountain & Moorland Stallions i.e. Dartmoor, Exmoor, Shetland, Welsh A & Welsh B - may NOT be ridden by Juniors who have NOT attained their 12th birthday before 1st January at any show affiliated to Ponies Association (UK). Any - Small Breed Mountain and Moorland Stallions exceeding 138cms or Large Breed Mountain & Moorland stallions i.e. Connemara, Dales, Fells, Highlands, New Forest, Welsh Section C & Welsh Section D may not be ridden by any Juniors who have NOT attained their 14th birthday before 1st January at any show affiliated to Ponies Association (UK unless the class is run under the auspices of an individual Governing Body when their rules must be conformed to. 8. ONLY Mares and Geldings are eligible for Young Handler, Junior Ridden M & M, Lead Rein & First Ridden classes. 9. Handlers / Rider may only compete with one horse/pony in any one Showing class. A competitor may ride more than one exhibit (maximum 2) in a Confined Novice Working Hunter / Pony, Open Working Hunter / Pony, M&M Working Hunter Pony, Style & Performance, Competition Horse/Pony, Event Pony and the Zenith WH/WHP, but before the final phase the Exhibitor must nominate to the Steward which horse / pony he / she will ride for the final presentation of marks and rosettes. Once the class has commenced there shall be no change of rider, except in a Championship.This does not apply at the P(UK) Winter and Summer Championship shows where competitors may be competing in another class during the day,( Evening Performances excluded ) when a representative maybe sent for presentation. - 4 -

10. No ridden pony shall be shown on a Lead Rein except those exhibited in classes confined to Lead Rein ponies. 11. DOPE TESTING - All animals taking part in any classes will be liable to dope testing. Random dope tests may be made at any time at any show affiliated to Ponies Association (UK). The presence of any form of prohibited substance will render both exhibitor and pony/horse liable to disqualification from competing at all future Ponies Association (UK) shows. Tests will be run according to Horse Racing Authority. 12. Boots (including over-reach boots) are permissible in the Jumping Phase of any Working Hunter, Style and Performance, P(UK) Event Pony, Zenith WH/WHP classes and Show Jumping Competitions, but they must be removed before conformation phase At no other time can a change of saddlery be permitted. 13. Horses and ponies must be four years old and over in all ridden classes. The age should be calculated from 1st January in the year of their birth. 14a. All Mountain & Moorland ponies must be registered in the approved section with their respective Pure Breed Societies and must be within the height specifications as laid down by their Breed Society (See table on Page 7). All horses/ponies competing in classes restricted to breeds OR part-breeds must be fully registered with their respective breed society/stud book. 14b. A horse/pony must be shown under the name in which it was originally registered in the Official Stud Books of the GSB, NPS, M&M Stud Books, BSPS, BSJA, BHD, Ponies Association (UK) or any other recognised society. 15 Passports or Registration papers will be required for all animals born after 1st January 2001 registering with Ponies Association (UK). A copy of the registration papers must be lodged together with the application form. 16. Horses/ponies must be registered and entered at any show in the name of the Legal owner. When a lease/loan is negotiated the horse/pony will not be treated as the property of the Lessee/Borrower until the lease/loan form has been completed, the remittance has been received by P(UK) and the lease/loan has been registered. If a horse/pony is registered with P(UK) and ownership is transferred the new owner must notify P(UK) immediately and forward the transfer fee. The Transfer of Ownership Form must be completed and signed by the purchaser and registered with the P (UK) Show Register before the transfer is considered complete. 17a. Rider must have attained their 3 rd birthday on the day of the show unless otherwise stated. 17b. To become a JRC Member the Rider must have attained their 3rd birthday but not their 18 th by 1 st January of the current year. 17c. Earings and body studs must not be worn. 17d. Mobile phones and ear pieces must not be taken into the ring. 18. In the First Ridden classes ponies must not be cantered except in their individual show. Ponies in Riding Pony, Show Hunter Pony, and M&M classes may be galloped 4 at a time ONLY except in a Championship OR during the Final Judging of a class. 19. Horses & ponies must be trimmed and shown as set down by their relevant Breed Societies. Animals exhibited in P (UK) Riding Horse/Riding Pony classifications must be plaited. Mountain & Moorland Ponies in Showing Classes MUST be shown unplaited. 20. No Horse/Pony may enter the ring after the judging process has begun and the Steward has closed the ring. In the event of the rider or handler leaving the ring they MUST be present for the final assessment and presentation of awards. At the Winter and Summer Championship Shows a competitor may leave the ring with permission from the judge to compete in another class but must be available for final assesment if required. A representatative is acceptable for the presentation of awards. The class is completed when the Judge dismisses the class. 21. The Judge s decision is FINAL. 22. An exhibitor may not knowingly exhibit a pony that has been bred, sold, leased, produced, broken, ridden or trained by the Judge, and/or his/her immediate family or his/her employer or by anyone with whom he/she resides, with the exception of Show Jumping Competitions since 1st August 2011. 22a Judges must not knowingly Judge a Horse that has been Owned, Produced, Exhibited, Bred or Ridden by them or a close relative or anyone with whom they are in a business partnership with or by anyone they employ or by anyone who employs them or by anyone whom they live since 1 st August 2011. - 5 -

23a. A rider/handler may not show in a class judged by someone for whom he/she has exhibited in the show ring since the 1 st August 2010 with the exception of Show Jumping/Cross Country classes. 23b. A rider may not show a Horse/Pony in a competition judged by any member of his/her immediate family. 23c. An exhibitor may not show under a Judge for whom he/she has produced a pony since 1 st August 2011 (an exhibitor is, the owner, lessee or the person who produces and/or shows the pony). Group training is acceptable but private training is not acceptable. 23d. An exhibitor may not show under a Judge where he/she has entered into a financial/commercial undertaking since the 1 st August 2011 (stud fees are excluded). 24. LEE-SMITH HOME PRODUCED CLASSIFICATIONS - These classes are open to current Lee-Smith Members with P(UK) registered horses and ponies that have been stabled at home since 1 st August 2012. DIY Livery is acceptable providing it is not at the establishment of a professional Show Producer/Trainer. Horses entered in these classes must be owned, produced, ridden or led by the owner/spouse or his/her son/daughter/grandchild, who for showing purposes has not engaged in the training programme for horses/ponies/livery/selling or dealing as a means of deriving an income. Stud fees are acceptable. It is expected that exhibitors will enter into the true spirit of this competition. The Directors reserve the right in their absolute discretion to refuse an exhibitor s entry should they be in contravention of this rule in the Directors considered opinion. 24b. Animals and riders must not receive any assistance from professional trainers or producers on the day of the competition. (This includes preparation and training of the animal and the rider for the competition at the show). Exhibitors are encouraged to participate in training programmes but riders who have received individual training may not exhibit under that person. 25. DEFINITIONS: A MEMBER is a fully paid up A or Life Member of Ponies Association (UK). A LEE-SMITH HOME PRODUCED MEMBER is a fully paid up Lee-Smith Home Produced Member of Ponies Association (UK) who conforms with the rules and regulations pertaining to this classification. (Please see Rule 24 above) A REGISTERED HORSE/PONY is an animal registered with P(UK) to a CURRENT Annual or Life member. An EXHIBITOR is the owner/lessee/or person who produces and/or shows the pony/horse. A PRODUCER is one who undertakes the preparation and/or training of a pony/horse for the Show Ring and receives remuneration. A TRAINER is one who undertakes the preparation and/or training of a rider for the Show Ring and receives remuneration. AMATEUR RIDER An Amateur Rider is a rider who for showing purposes HAS NOT engaged in the training programme for Rider/horses/ponies/livery/buying/selling or dealing of horses/ponies as a means of deriving a source of income since 1 st August 2012. It is expected that exhibitors will enter into the true spirit of this competition. The Directors reserve the right in, their absolute discretion, to refuse an exhibitor s entry should they be in contravention of this rule in the Directors considered opinion. AMATEUR HANDLER An Amateur Handler is a handler who for showing purposes HAS NOT engaged in the training programme for Handler/Rider/horses/ponies/livery/buying/selling or dealing of horses/ponies as a means of deriving a source of income since 1 st August 2012. It is expected that exhibitors will enter into the true spirit of this competition. The Directors reserve the right in, their absolute discretion, to refuse an exhibitor s entry should they be in contravention of this rule in the Directors considered opinion. HOME PRODUCED These classes are open to horses and ponies that have been stabled at home since 1 st August 2012. DIY livery is acceptable providing it is not the establishment of a professional show producer/trainer. Horses/ponies entering these championships must be owned, produced, ridden or led by the owner/spouse or his/her son/daughter/grandchild, who for showing purposes has not engaged in the training programme for horses/ponies/livery/selling or dealing as a means of deriving an income. Stud fees are acceptable. It is expected that exhibitors will enter into the true spirit of this competition. The Directors reserve the right in, their absolute discretion, to refuse an exhibitor s entry should they be in contravention of this rule in the Directors considered opinion. Animals and riders must not receive any assistance from professional trainers or producers on the day of the competition. (This includes preparation and training of the animal and the rider for the competition at the show). Exhibitors are encouraged to participate in training programmes but riders who have received individual training may not exhibit under that person. - 6 -

26. P(UK) reserves the right, at their absolute discretion, to refuse or refund applications for Memberships, Pony Registrations, Show Affiliations and Traders. 4 27. MEMBERSHIP - A person ceasing for any reason to be a Member of the Association shall not be entitled to a refund in whole or in part of any annual subscriptions or other monies already paid by him/her to the Society and they shall remain liable for payment of all annual subscriptions or other monies to the Association up to the date on which they ceased to be a Member. 28. JUDGES/MEMBERS The Directors reserve the right, in their absolute discretion, to refuse or refund the application from any Panel Judge or Member who has been convicted of any criminal offence. 29. OBJECTIONS may only be made by an Exhibitor at a P(UK) Event. All objections shall be made in writing with the objector s full name and address within one hour of the event concerned and lodged at the Secretary s Office together with the appropriate remittance. The sum shall be refunded if the objection is sustained but if the objection is not sustained the deposit will be forfeited to the funds of Ponies Association (UK). 30. The Association reserves the right to refuse or cancel any entry already accepted, without any reason for doing so. Whenever, under this Regulation, an entry is refused or cancelled, or an exhibit is refused admission or removed, the fees paid may at the discretion of the Council, be refunded and, if refunded, shall be accepted by the exhibitor or intending exhibitor in full satisfaction of all claims against the Association 31. For P(UK) Winter National Championships, P(UK) Summer National Championships, Course Builders are permitted to increase the maximum height of fences by an extra 5cms unless a maximum height of fences is stated in the schedule of that show. 32. Affiliation will not be accepted until:- a)the Affiliation form and fee has been received, after which an affiliation number will be allocated. b) A draft schedule, which must include the Judge s names, must be sent to P(UK) 8 weeks prior to the event. c) The Final Schedule MUST NOT be printed or issued until the draft has been approved and all amendments requested by P(UK) have been incorporated into the Final Schedule and forwarded to the P(UK) office. d) Affiliations will be withdrawn if qualifying events fail to send in a final schedule at least one month prior to the event. e) Results must be submitted to the P(UK) office either via post or email 3 days after the show. 33. Exhibitors shall be responsible for the behaviour of their assistants and riders and all persons in charge of exhibits shall be subject to the orders of the Stewards or Judges. These classes are designed to encourage the horse/pony and rider to perform stylishly. The final will be divided into the following 2 divisions: o Maximum height 84cms o M&M maximum height 76cms Method of Judging: 1. Horses / Ponies will enter the ring individually and jump a course of obstacles designed to produce a maximum of 10 jumping efforts. Course Builders are recommended to avoid fences with a related distance. 2. Each jumping effort will be marked out of 10 and 20 for overall impression at the Judge s discretion. 3. There is no set penalty for a pole down or run out but three refusals will result in elimination. 4. Fall of horse or rider will result in elimination. 5. There will be no mark awarded for conformation or manners, but a mark will be awarded for overall impression at the completion of each round. 6. In the event of a tie, the overall impression mark will determine the final placings. Should there still be an equality of marks, the jumping marks will be taken into consideration the comparison beginning with fence one and continuing thereafter until a result is achieved. 2013 P(UK) NATIONAL SUMMER CHAMPIONSHIPS 9 th 11 th August 2013 Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire, CV8 2LZ 1 st 2 nd and 3 rd placed horses/ponies in all Summer National Championships will qualify for the 2013 P(UK) Summer National Championships. Mixed height classes 1 st, 2 nd and 3 rd qualify only. Competitors in qualifying positions, who are not current members of P(UK) are allowed 14 days in which to become members and register their horses/ponies in order for the qualification to remain valid. The exception being any competitor qualifying at a show between 1 July and 31 July must submit their membership within 48 hours after the qualifying event in order for the qualification to remain valid. Lee Smith Members are Eligible to qualify for Lee Smith finals at the Summer National Championships. Lee-Smith Competition Cards must be completed and signed by the judge for each National Championship during the judging process of the qualifying Championship.
