Coventry Mini Development League is the beginning of your journey to The Junior Premier League
The history of the JPL
10 The history of the JPL Creating opportunities and developing young footballers since 2011 The Junior Premier league launched for the start of the 2011/12 season and was originally conceived by a group of large clubs from the Midlands & Southern England who were interested in developing their players through better coaching and better quality matches. The league is aimed at clubs who want to develop their players through a best with best ethos - the NERF Junior Premier League is not aimed at single teams looking for a new challenge. The Junior Premier League now covers an area from Devon to Derbyshire with over 500 teams. It has excellent referee coverage of its games and a minimum qualification for its coaches. There is a real commitment to the FA s Respect campaign. Even though the players taking part are of a high ability level, the emphasis is on development and enjoyment over winning. In other words, we are starting from a high base line.
11 The history of the JPL We want you to help us create the future stars of the beautiful game The aim is to create an environment where players can enjoy the game and are free to make their own decisions; where coaches can get their points across without having to bellow instructions; and where parents can turn up and enjoy watching their children play without becoming anxious. We actively encourage clubs to give more contact time to their players and many of our initiatives are aimed at developing the players to the highest level possible. We offer a variety of different football formats (futsal & festival) as well as the traditional match day experience. This is the gap that the Junior Premier League has already filled in many parts of the country. The top clubs from different regions are now facing each other and giving these players the added challenge they need and deserve. We have a great cross section of clubs involved from Premier League to semiprofessional clubs. The important thing for any club entering the league is a genuine desire to develop their players to the best of their ability. We want our players to love the game and remain involved in it past the age of 18 whether that be as a player, coach, referee or other involved person that way our game and league can develop and be sustained. There are some very talented players in grassroots that for one reason or another are not playing their football at a professional academy. They probably play in a team that are the best in their local league. They have proved themselves there. But where next?
Our main sponsor
13 our main sponsor We are proud to have Nerf as our main league sponsor Over the past three seasons one of the biggest toy and game manufacturers in the world, Hasbro, have partnered with the League via the brand, NERF. As the largest junior football sponsor in England, this clearly demonstrates the reach of the League both in terms of region and via our website and social media platforms. NERF and the Junior Premier League recognise that football is about more than just the game, it is about having fun, meeting new people and making friendships and this is why we are so happy to have them as part of our league. Their support allows us to offer many events to our players and the products they give us allow us to put lots of smiles on the players faces.
MatchDay Experience
15 matchday experience Creating an environment where all players can play with a smile The Junior Premier League already has a minimum level of qualification for its coaches. That will continue to be applied in the coming seasons. This is the only league currently to be designated a Licensed Coaches Club league. The belief is the higher the qualification, the more the coaches will understand the ethos that lies behind the league. This is key to everything we do. The Junior Premier League matches are played to a high standard, both in terms of the quality of competition and in our full commitment to adhere to the FA RESPECT campaign. We are constantly developing our Respect campaign and it is a wonderful opportunity to show that disrespecting referees, fellow coaches and players will not be tolerated, even at the highest level. The ability of the players on the field, and their development going forward is only one measure. The Junior Premier League has to represent all that is best practice in grassroots junior football. The off field organisation, in terms of fixtures, location of games and communication will be first class. The Birmingham MDL will aim to be a Charter Standard league and will be working in partnership with Birmingham FA.
16 matchday experience An online platform providing you with instant updates on reports, tables and statistics The League has developed its own league administration software to run every aspect of the programme from: Fixtures, Registrations, Interactive team sheets, Pre and post-match data Internal messaging Player statistics Gold, Silver and Bronze awards As we designed the system, we are able to constantly develop to ensure it reflects the needs of all of our members and provides the most up to date interactive league management system for all administrators, which in turn leads to real time interactivity for all visitors to the website.
