Madison Racquet & Swim Club Junior Swim Program Membership priority registration starts December 1st Nonmember registration starts December 8th. Parent & Child AquaBabies (6-12 months) A wonderful introduction to a swim class for infants and parents. This class is designed to adapt children to the water through songs and games. Parents are introduced to the basics of our swim lesson program and water safety. AquaTots (13-36 months) While swimming with parents, toddlers are encouraged to explore the water and learn basic swimming skills and water safety through water play, songs and use of flotation aids. Advanced AquaTots For the 2+ year old who is very comfortable in the water and is almost ready for our Tadpole lesson, but too advanced for AquaTots. Swimmers must be accompanied by an adult in the water and will learn independent floating and proper body position. Participants must be comfortable getting their face and ears wet. Junior Swim Lessons Session 1... Jan 2nd Feb 17th (5 or 7 weeks) Session 2... Price can be discounted at time of registration if away February 16th-20th. Youth (6 & Up) Goldfish A swim class for swimmers who are six years or older and have little swimming experience. Children become comfortable in the water while learning basic swim skills, water safety and use of flotation aids. Flounder Independent swimmers who are ready to learn whole strokes. Students are introduced to front crawl, rhythmic breathing, backstroke, diving and water safety skills. Snapper Swimmers who have the endurance to swim half lengths of the pool with a front crawl and backstroke. Children are introduced to rotary breathing, perfecting stroke technique and to swimming the full length of the pool. Striper Swimmers are encouraged to perform correct stroke techniques for the front crawl and backstroke while building endurance and learning important safety skills. Intro to breaststroke kick. Bluefish This class is designed for swimmers perfecting their front crawl and backstroke. Swimmers are also introduced to butterfly and breaststroke. Dolphin Advanced swimmers fine tune the four competitive strokes while improving endurance. Pre-School (3-5 years) Tadpole A swim class with an instructor for beginner swimmers. This class introduces basic swim skills, and uses flotation aids to develop independence in the water. Lobster Young swimmers who have learned to kick, paddle and float without support are challenged to swim the length of the pool and demonstrate stroke readiness while emphasizing water safety. Starfish An intermediate swim class that encourages young swimmers to perform front crawl and backstroke while also learning diving and safety skills. Semi-private lessons are available for two children of the same level. Privates are scheduled once a week for the duration of each session. Lessons are booked on a first-come-first-served basis. Private lessons must be scheduled with the Aquatic Desk. There will be video feedback during each clinic. All swimmers must currently be participating in a competitive swim program, or approved by Coach Lyman in order to participate. January Clinics January 7th: Flip Turns January 21st: Breaststroke/ Butterfly Clinic for swimmers 13/Over 10:00am-11:00am Clinic for swimmers 12/Under 11:00am-12:00pm Fees are based per clinic. A minimum of 4 participants must be signed up. Successful completion results in a 2-year American Red Cross Certification in Lifeguarding which includes First Aid/CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer. December 26-30th 9:00-4:00pm PARTICIPANTS MUST ATTEND ALL CLASSES $350.00 per person $150.00 Re-certification Fee includes Digital Certification, Lifeguard Manual and CPR Rescue Mask Prerequisites At least 15 years old as of last day of class. Able to swim at least 300 yds. continuously using front crawl and breast stroke with rotary breathing. Able to tread water for 3 minutes. Able to retrieve a 10 pound object from a depth of 7-12 feet. All levels welcome. Days: Tues/Thurs Time: 8:00-9:00am AquaBlast Invigorate your body while strengthening & toning muscles in this cardiovascular conditioning class. Days: Saturday Time: 8:00-9:00am Silver Splash A fun and exciting class designed for active older adults, increasing muscle strength, flexibility and range of motion through water exercise. The focus of this class is on building core control. Participants do not need swimming skills.
