3 INTRO TO THE LEAGUE: The 3 on 3 League is a fast paced, fun, and competitive half-court basketball league. It differs from a traditional 5 on 5 league in the following areas: number of players on the court (3 per team) number of players on a roster (4-6 players = 3 + 1 to 3 substitutes) size of the court (1/2 basketball court with 1 basket) Rules and regulations adjusted for 3 on 3 competition The 3 on 3 League is a Pre-Formed team oriented league. There will be a waitlist available for individual players interested in playing but the registration is primarily for Pre-Formed teams. In the section below, you will find the necessary information to help get your team and players registered and ready to go for the season. INFORMATION YOU SHOULD KNOW TO START: TEAMS ARE NOT REQUIRED TO HAVE A COACH. - A coach or team parent is needed to initially register the team but are not required on game days. Team parents and captains will be the main point of contact on game days. Due to the smaller team size and court size, players should be able to manage their game day strategy amongst themselves. SCHEDULED PRACTICES ARE NOT PROVIDED BY THE LEAGUE. - Due to the smaller roster numbers and fast-paced style of the league, the league will only schedule games. Teams can coordinate practices on their own if they choose but it is not required. TEAMS MUST DESIGNATE A TEAM CAPTAIN. -The team captain will be responsible for checking in their team with the court monitor on game days. They will also be responsible to report the final score to the court monitor and sign out for the team once the game is over. PLAYERS WILL MAKE THEIR OWN CALLS. -During the regular season, the players will call their own fouls and violations which will be recorded by the court monitors. In the post season tournament, referees will be used to officiate the games.
4 HOW TO BEGIN THE TEAM PROCESS: To begin the process each team must first do the following: Confirm you have 4 6 players ready to register and play the season Designate 1 player to be the team captain or main point of contact on game days Have 1 coach or team parent begin the registration process for the team Create an original team name to use during registration. * Team Names must be in the following format: (TEAM NAME CAPTAIN LAST NAME) Ex. GS Dubs - Curry HOW TO REGISTER STEP 1: TEAM REGISTRATION 1. Have a coach or team parent register the team in the correct division. Registration links will be found on the 3 on 3 home page. www.siliconvalleynjb.com/3on3 2. The team parent / coach will need to know the following to successfully register the team. a. Team Name Team Name Format = Team Name Team Captain s Last Name b. Team Parent or Coach Name (Name of person registering the team) c. Team Age Group or Division d. Team Competition Level Level 1 (highest competition) or Level 2 (moderate competition) e. Expected number of players planning to play on team f. Read and acknowledge league rules, terms, and conditions 3. The team parent / coach will then complete the team registration process in the registration system called League Apps. There is no cost to the team parent or coach to register the team. 4. Select the correct option that applies to the person registering the team (Coach, Assistant Coach, or Team Parent) 5. After the team parent or coach has completed the team registration, they need to notify the players that they can now register and provide the info listed in step 2 to their players. STEP 2: PLAYER REGISTRATION 1. After the team is registered, the team parent / coach should provide parents / players with the following information: a. Team Name b. Team Parent or Coach Name (Name of person that registered the team) c. Team Age Group or Division d. Team Competition Level Level 1 (highest competition) or Level 2 (moderate competition) 2. Players / Parents will go to the player registration link found on the 3 on 3 home page. www.siliconvalleynjb.com/3on3 3. Players will then register in to the team created in the registration system called League Apps. 4. Select Team Player and then select the team the team parent / coach registered previously. 5. After all team players have completed their registration, the team will be completed and included in the upcoming league schedule.
5 GENERAL LEAGUE TIMELINE 1. REGISTRATION OPENS LATE AUG - SEP 2. REGISTRATION CLOSES SEP 18 3. LEAGUE SCHEDULING PROCESS BEGINS (AFTER REGISTRATION CLOSES) MONDAY AFTER REGISTRATION CLOSES 4. LEAGUE SCHEDULE POSTED (PLEASE BE PATIENT) BETWEEN WED FRI BEFORE 1 ST GAME 5. JERSEY DISTRIBUTION BEFORE WEEK 1 GAMES 6. WEEK 1 (REGUALR SEASON BEGINS) SEP 24 7. WEEK 2 OCT 1 8. WEEK 3 OCT 8 9. WEEK 4 (REGULAR SEASON ENDS) OCT 15 10. POST SEASON SCHEDULING BEGINS (AFTER REGULAR SEASON ENDS) MONDAY AFTER REGULAR SEASON ENDS 11. POST SEASON SCHEDULE RELEASED (PLEASE BE PATIENT) BETWEEN TUE THUR OF WEEK 5 12. WEEK 5 (POST SEASON TOURNAMENT) END OF SEASON OCT 21/22 - TBD GAME DAY PROCEDURE - PLAYERS Due to the fast-paced schedule and game play, players need to be on time to maximize the allocated time for each game. Please read below for the procedure players should follow before each game: 1. Arrive 10 15 minutes before scheduled game. 2. At scheduled game time, teams will have 5 minutes on the clock to check-in and warm-up a. All players will need to sign in with the court monitor b. After all players have signed in, they can now warm-up during the remaining time c. Both teams will be warming up on the same basket 3. The game will begin exactly at the scheduled game time 4. Games will have a running clock so please be on time and ready to play 5. After the game has finished, the winning team captain is responsible to report the final score to the court monitor 6. Teams should then promptly leave the court so the next teams can begin their check-in and warm-ups. *If your team has another scheduled game and you would like to wait for your next game, please wait near your next court but out of the way of the current players in the game.
6 INDIVIDUALS NOT ON A TEAM FREE AGENTS Individual players interested in playing but do not have a team can still register as a free agent. There will be a free agent waitlist. Players on the waitlist are not guaranteed a spot on a team but if a team. However, if a team needs a player, then players from the waitlist will have an opportunity to participate in the league. HOW TO JOIN THE FREE AGENT WAITLIST 1. Go to the registration links located on the 3 on 3 home page. www.siliconvalleynjb.com/3on3 2. Once in the registration system called League Apps, create an account if you don t have one already or login if you already have an account. Forgot your password? You can also reset your password. 3. After you have logged in or created your account, select register player then select the child you are registering 4. From the popup, select Free Agent player and then complete the player registration information. 5. After the player registration questions have been completed, the player will now be added to the waitlist. 6. Waitlisted Free Agent players will be notified if they were placed on a team by the week of the first game at the latest
