CELEBRATING SPORT IN BRADFORD Due to the success of the first two Bradford Sports Awards, the awards will return for the third consecutive year, moving to a larger venue at Northern Commercials Stadium to accommodate Bradford s ever growing sporting community. The second annual Bradford Sports Awards were held on 2nd March 2017 at the Bradford Hotel. Over 400 attendees gathered to celebrate the achievements of Bradford s sporting heroes. The finalists were joined by friends, family and representatives of the sporting community from across the district in celebration of their hard work throughout 2016. Tanya Arnold again hosted the event, orchestrating proceedings and welcoming all finalists and winners to the stage for their moment of appreciation. Attendees also heard from Active Bradford Chair Wayne Jacobs, Bradford Metropolitan District Council Chief Executive, Kersten England and Welcome to Yorkshire s Director of Communications Marie Christopher. Bradford City FC, Bradford Bulls RFC, Bradford Park Avenue FC and Keighley Cougars joined Olympic athletes, community sports clubs and the district s best athletes to celebrate and acknowledge each other s successes. The event received great coverage both in the run up to the event, on the night and post event from Telegraph and Argus. BBC Radio Leeds also advertised the awards and broadcasted live on the night, interviewing nominees and other Bradford sporting heroes. BCB Radio were also in attendance on the night to cover the event. What a fantastic night celebrating sport at all levels across Bradford. Some amazing things being done. It is a celebration of sport but also highlights the role that sport and physical activity can have in building communities and changing lives for the better.
