Then, another person comes in the school gate. Emma rides on crazy rollerskates. They are rainbow rollerskates. They have rainbows on the laces and boots. Look! says Jasmine. Each wheel has a colour from the rainbow. One wheel is gold, like the gold at the end of the rainbow. 10 11
Digger dug holes beneath the neighbours houses, holes in the school grounds, and holes next to the footpaths. He dug holes in the golf course, holes in the football field, and now holes in Ms Bell s flowerbed! 6 7
Well then, I wish I had dazzling, white fur, like a polar bear, said Connie. That s silly, said Colin. You would be too hot. Polar bears live in the cold and need to stay warm. That s why they need all that fur. 8 9
Grandma and Jo went to see the forest rangers. They will tell us what is wrong, Grandma said. The rangers soon found the problem. There are rats in the forest, said the chief ranger. They eat the parrots eggs. There are wild cats, too. They eat the chicks. 4 5
Omar looked for the lizard everywhere. Then, he had an idea. The lizard needed to drink. He would hide by the waterhole early in the morning. Perhaps he would see it there. Omar built a shelter near the waterhole. He went there early the next morning. He waited quietly. 4 5
On Saturday, a big crowd gathered outside the gates of Dinsmore Park. Mayor Panos made a speech, saying how proud she was of the park and how it would bring the tourists to Dinsmore. Then, she cut the ribbon on the gates and let everyone in. 4 5
Bella was quiet for a moment, then she said, I didn t get any new clothes! My mum said I could have my sister s old ones. Did you want new clothes? said Becky. Yes, I did, said Bella. I don t like wearing my sister s throw-outs, but Mum said her old clothes were perfectly good. 8 9
