Points of Sailing - Sailing Upwind Also for those who are ready :- a check point session for knots, parts of a boat or rigging. An instructor will be available to sign-off demonstrated competencies. 10:30am The practical session on water this Sunday will focus on turning from a beam reach towards the wind (luff) onto a close reach. Then turning further into the wind and pulling the sails tight to sail closehauled. Tingira Big Boat Sailing Series - Event 1 (Sunday 25 March) The first event of the proposed Tingira Big Boat Sailing Series will take place on Sunday 25 March. The sailing instructions, course map and nomination form for the event were emailed out last weekend. If you did not receive this email and would like the forms sent to you please contact Secretary Peter Fox (pfox54@bigpond.com or 0417 841 009 Nomination Forms Those intending to participate in the events will need to complete a nomination form. A seperate nomination form is required for each event. If you are intending to participate in all four events, we are offering a discounted amount of $50 for the entire series. To attract the discounted amount, please pay $50 at the time of the first nomination. (Please indicate name or boat name in the details section). Briefing A briefing concerning the event will be conducted at the Tingira Boat Clubhouse on Friday 23 March at 6:30pm approx. Awards / Prizes Each event will have seperate awards but we intend having an overall series winner using the best three results out of the four. For each event and the overall series, prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd on handicap and to line honours. In the case of there being three or more of a similiar class (e.g. Jubilee One-Design Yachts ) additional prizes will be awarded at the discretion of the Sailing Committee. The Calvert Memorial Sailing Event will still be sailed as a seperate event but the result also included in the overall series. The Calvert Memorial Trophy will be awarded to the yacht placed 1st on handicap.
