INFORMATION AGE We recommend a minimum age of 6 for all day activities. Pony Owning and Activity Days suit children of 12 years and below. Camps, Pony Club and Livery events are attended by young people of all ages, ranging from 6 to 18. COST Please see individual event for charges. To secure a reservation the cost of the event is required, or the cost of one day with regard to Camps with the balance due on the first of the Camp. For your convenience we can also take payment by credit or debit card over the phone. Activities are transferrable or refundable up to two weeks before the activity starts. EXTRAS Please ensure your child is suitably dressed for being outside all day according to the weather. They will also require a packed lunch and optional change for the vending machine. Please note that supervision of children is only possible between the hours stated. As only a brief description is given of each event, please do ask the office for further information. JOIN OUR PONY CLUB! For children who regularly attend activities there is a huge benefit to be had in joining our official Pony Club Centre. Our Pony Club Centre is exactly the same as a Pony Club Branch, other than we provide you with the ponies in order to participate. Joining is easy and immediate, just ask for an application form from our office. It only costs 25 a year and opens up amazing opportunities to follow a nationally organised training structure which results in internationally recognised qualifications! Understanding Dressage With Gemma Bowles BHSAI/Stage IV Let Gemma unravel all the mysteries of dressage; show you how much fun it can be and what you can achieve with her guidance and her support. Now introducing once a month on a Monday from 10am-12pm (during school term-time), regular training sessions with Gemma. These will involve a first hour of practical & theory to be put into practice with a second hour of riding. These clinics are also suited to those who would prefer not to ride.* MON JAN 4 MON 1 MON 21 Rhythm where it all begins Position for Precision developing control in the rider s position Transitions the most important schooling tool! From: 10am 12pm LHS Members: 50 riders, 25 non-riders Gemma Bowles rides at Grand Prix level and competes successfully at affiliated advanced level. Gemma has developed her dressage skills under the internationally recognised dressage trainer Pammy Hutton of Talland School of Equitation and is also a Trainee Dressage Judge. 5

3 Day Dressage Clinic With Gemma Bowles BHSAI/Stage IV Join us for three days of learning about how to become a better dressage rider. MON to WEDS JAN 18 to 20 Day 1 Improving the rider seat, including work on the lunge Day 2 Application of the aids. Understanding the rules of aiding and how to improve your co-ordinations and skill. Day 3 Putting it all together so you become a better rider with greater influence over your horse s way of going. There will be 2 riding sessions per day, including theory, demonstrations and an inhouse dressage competition on the final day. Note for liveries: this clinic also counts towards Team Quest training if you would like to know more about Team Quest do speak to Gemma. From: 9:30am 3:30pm LHS Members: 205 Non Members: 250 6

Livery Extras HACKS For our liveries, these will commence at 9.30 a.m. and are for 1.5 to 2 hours depending on location, pace and ground. Cantering will be included providing ground acceptable. Minimum of 3 with a maximum of 6 liveries to proceed. Liveries to catch up, prep and take care of horses afterwards themselves. All handling by owner CROSS COUNTRY SCHOOLING WEDS 23 THURS 31 A chance for liveries to improve their cross country skills off site with Amelia Thomson (Event Rider, BHSAI Stage IV and UKCC Level 2 Credited Coach) around a course of cross country jumps at either Rogate or Coombelands (TBC). For all owned liveries L6+ (max 6 riders). Owners will need to arrange own transport (the trailer is available for hire) and a facility fee of approx. 25-30 will be charged by Rogate/Coombelands depending on numbers attending. NB: Please arrive at the venue an hour before the start time so able to calmly organize yourself before the off! Time: 11 am to 1 pm (approx.) Livery: 30* (+ facility fee) *Includes livery discount. With groups strictly split according to age and ability, the programme will include two riding sessions and related practical sessions towards the Pony Club Progressive and Efficiency Tests, improving competitive skills, and where appropriate Achievement Badges. The most senior group will be taken by our Chief Instructor or Yard Manager. LHS Members: 68 Non-Members: 85 Liveries: 30* *Inc. discount. All handling by owner. Not a Pony Club member yet? TUES 16 Treasure Hunting ACTIVITY DAY For pre-teens, come and join us today so we can search for natural treasures both on foot and on horseback whilst also learning about the countryside. Two riding sessions, loads of hands on and a team treasure hunt in the afternoon with rosettes awarded. LHS Members: 68 Non-Members: 85 WEDS 17 WEDS 17 DRESSAGE Morning Develop your dressage skills with our Chief Instructor. Study and learn how to ride a dressage test to gain the maximum marks you can for your current stage of training. For rider levels 6 to 8 and competent+ adult riders. For our liveries this clinic also contributes to Team Quest training. Spring Half Term THURS 18 Super Smart PONY OWNING DAY For pre-teens, choose your favourite pony to learn all about how to groom and pamper your pony so that he looks super smart. The day will also include two riding sessions, one of which will be a hack providing conditions are suitable. LHS Members: 68 Non-Members: 85 19 PONY CLUB Combined Training Competition This is the first competition of three for the Pony Club League Series to be held during 2016, which is awarded by the Pony Club Head Office. For level 4 riders and above, choose one of the following classes and state which one you are entering at the time of booking, or we can do this for you if preferred. Do ask for a copy of your dressage test from the office so you can pre-learn it. Competing times will be provided and parents are welcome to come and watch. The ponies will be available from 9 a.m. to get ready for the competition. Refreshments available and a photographer will also be present. PC Class 1 Pony Club D Level Dressage Test & 1 9 show jumping course (Recommended for levels 4&5) Class 2 Class 3 Pony Club Introductory Dressage Test & 2 0 show jumping course (Recommended levels 6&7) From: 9am 4pm Members: 75 Pony Club C Level Dressage Test & 2 3-2 6 show Liveries: 30* jumping course. BHS Stage 1 & 2 Clinic MON to WEDS 7 to 9 BRITISH HORSE SOCIETY Always rewarding for those who come to learn and the instructors alike, we very much look forward to you joining us for three days of learning to widely improve your horsemanship skills. With groups split according to aims and ability, training towards the BHS Stage 1 exam which will include riding on the flat together with the horse knowledge and care syllabus, whilst the BHS Stage 2 will include all of this plus jumping a small course of fences. A must for anyone thinking of one day having their own horse (if you don t already), you won t regret this valuable learning curve whilst meeting up with likeminded others. Light refreshments are included but please bring a packed lunch. Show Jumping Evenings 18 APR 8 MAY 6 Whether you own a horse or not, do come and join in with these fun and friendly clear round show jumping evenings. The fences will start small, increasing in size through the evening and every clear round wins a rosette. Rounds will start at 1 6 at 6 p.m. and will finish by 8 p.m. at around 2 6 or if enough request, bigger. A warm-up ring will be available from 5.30 p.m. and you will need to get the horse ready yourself although we are around to help as and when you want it. It is not necessary to wear a jacket or plait for these friendly evenings, but smart turn-out is encouraged. If riding one of our horses, ideally select one you have jumped before. Easter Holidays PONY CLUB Show Jumping Competition with Open Adult Secton **New** APR 1 This is the second competition of three for the Pony Club League Series to be held during 2016. For level 4 riders and above, you will be jumping in three classes. At the time of booking please choose one size from Class 1 and Class 3 and one of Classes 2, 4 or 5. The ponies will be available from 9 a.m. There will be one hour to prepare your horse for the competition followed by course building and course walks to learn tactical skills. If ground permits a second course will be in the grass show jumping field for level 7 & 8 riders. Rosettes according to entries, light refreshments available and a photographer will be present. PC Class 1 Clear Round @ 1 6, 1 9, 2 0, 2 3 or 2 6 in this order please state which height you would like to jump. Class 2 Minimus maximum height 1 9. First round clears go forward to jump off second round clears share the rosettes. (Recommended levels 4&5) Class 3 Class 4 Rider Equitation @ 2 0 or 2 6. Marks will be awarded on rider style, skill and influence over the pony s way of going whilst jumping around a course of fences. Novice maximum height 2 0 first round. Second round clears go forward to jump off against the clock. Class 5 Class 6 Intermediate maximum height 2 6 first round. Second round clears go forward to jump off against the clock over a 2 9 course. Adults Section maximum height 2 3 first round.
