~ Union Mine Jr. Rattlers Football & Cheer ~ www.jrrattlers.com 6100 Enterprise Dr. Suite D Diamond Springs, CA 95623 Welcome to the UM Jr. Rattlers Football Program s 2015 Season Thank you for signing up for the Union Mine Jr. Rattlers Football & Cheer Program. This year the Jr. Rattlers will be competing in D3, which consists of the following teams: Casa Robles, Christian brothers, Center, Bradshaw Christian, Colfax, El Dorado, Capital Christian and Del Campo. Team Formation The Football Program has four age divisions: Jr. Pee Wee, Pee Wee, Jr. Midget, and Midget (see attached chart for age placement information). Try-Outs Tryouts will be held to select players for all divisions. Players are strongly encouraged to condition themselves prior to tryouts with aerobic exercise and running for endurance. This will quickly separate players from those who have not prepared themselves. All registration fees/deposits must be paid prior to tryouts. Signed Player Consent and Medical Release forms and physical examination forms must be submitted prior to tryouts. After your child has been placed on a Jr. Rattler squad, a copy of the school enrollment form (first-year players only) and the remainder of the registration paperwork must be submitted prior to certification. Football Expectations This will be a competitive program with emphasis placed on building confidence, developing leaders, and having fun. Players will practice 5 days a week during the conditioning/try-outs. Once regular season begins, players will be expected to practice 3-4 days per week with games on Saturdays. Players will need to be in good physical shape and be able to demonstrate endurance, flexibility, strength, and discipline. For example, a well-hydrated player should be able to run 1 mile in the dry heat without stopping at the beginning of practice each day. Page 2 of 5

Safety Our first priority is the safety of your child. Certified equipment and qualified coaches are hallmarks of our program. 2015 Jr. Rattlers Football Policies and Guidelines For safety and fairness to teammates, and at the Coach s discretion, attendance requirements and associated discipline for Jr. Rattler players will be as follows: Tardiness Practice Football players are expected to arrive at practice at least 10 minutes early If a football player is tardy for practice (5 or more minutes late) he will run an extra lap or do push-ups Games Football players are expected to arrive at games at least 1 ½ hours prior to game time If a football player misses certification, he may not be able to be certified until half-time and will sit out the first half of the game o Absences If a football player misses 1 practice in a week (unexcused), his playing time will be reduced for the next game he attends (at the coaches discretion) If he misses 2 practices in a week (unexcused), he automatically sits out the next game he attends Players will be allowed 3 unexcused absences during the course of the season, after which they will be required to sit out the next game they attend for each unexcused absence Allowed unexcused absences may not be used for these mandatory events: o Tryouts o Jamboree Football Playoffs (if applicable Note: This policy does not apply to excused absences. Being picked up 15 minutes late twice will result in having to sit out one quarter of the next game Football players who want to walk home after practice or meet their parents in the parking lot need to bring a note signed by their parent. The note authorizes them to walk home or wait in the parking lot without adult supervision 2015 Jr. Rattlers Football Policies and Guidelines Football Ages and Weights The player s age on August 1 st will be the certified age for the season.
