JC RESORTS LLC POSITION DESCRIPTION JC GOLF JOB TITLE: DEPARTMENT: REPORTS TO: Assistant Golf Professional (Full-Time) Golf Head Golf Professional, First Assistant Golf Professional, or Director of Golf ESSENTIAL PURPOSE: To assist golf shop customers and conduct sales transactions in a courteous, friendly and professional manner. To provide first-class service to our guests by effectively communicating safety issues and reasonable pace of play to our customers and helping to ensure compliance with golf course rules and regulations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Golf Shop Assistant: To greet and welcome all guests upon arriving in the golf shop. To check in all guests and to provide all guests with a receipt to play. To follow all specified procedures to correctly handle all cash, credit, and gift certificate transactions. To tender all sales in the appropriate promotional category. To accurately record all tee time reservations in an efficient and friendly manner, while maximizing the tee sheet with public play, walk-ins, tournament play, and groups. To communicate with the Starter/Player s Assistants to know the pace of play at all times and assist the Player Assistants, as needed, when the pace of play is not meeting the goal. To actively promote the JC Players Card to all qualified golfers and to exceed the specified performance criteria by selling cards in accordance with monthly, quarterly and annual goals established for each property. To understand and respond to all guest needs and requests in a timely and professional manner.
To follow all specified procedures to properly perform routine job tasks, including opening and closing the shop; unpacking and pricing merchandise; recording sales; handling cash and credit transactions; receiving, stocking, pricing, displaying, and inventorying shop merchandise and supplies; handling mail, handling special orders; and preparing gift certificates. To have a comprehensive knowledge of shop merchandise, and actively promote its sale by approaching all guests in the shop, up-selling at the counter, and effective display and market knowledge. To provide accurate information to guests and inquirers, regarding golf programs, facilities, services, and special promotions and events. To take personal responsibility to maintain the aesthetic appeal of the golf shop and the property, including removing litter and trash, vacuuming, and straightening shop displays and merchandise. To promptly and professionally answer Golf Shop phones, following appropriate standards of business etiquette and responding to callers requests. Golf Starter/Player s Assistant: To assist the Outside Services staff in transporting/staging carts and transporting guest golf bags from their car/bag drop to the staging area or cart, as necessary. To welcome all guests and thank them for playing at a JC Golf Course. To ensure all golfers have a receipt including complimentary and employee rounds. To maintain an accurate record on the starter sheet of the number of players in a group, actual tee-off time, turn times, and round times. To ensure the orderly flow of play off the first tee and maintain a reasonable pace of play, in accordance with reserved tee times, rotating groups as necessary to compensate for late starts. To maximize the tee sheet by pairing up golfers, and managing the waitlist. To communicate with the golf shop on a regular basis to ensure the golfers are starting on time. To explain to all guests the Pace of Play program.
To communicate to all players the proper set of tees, cart path rule of the day, pin location, and course condition in order to ensure our guest s golfing enjoyment. To assist, in facilitating events and tournaments, including recording and distributing rules, setting up shotgun starts, tee times, and staging of golf carts needed for the day s operation. To maintain a clean and orderly appearance of the starter station as well as maintain an adequate amount of specified supplies. To promote the golf course at all times and the services that it has to offer the public. To have constant communication with the Starter/Player s Assistant and Golf Shop regarding pace of play. To assist groups that are behind the pace of play by getting out of the golf cart and by raking bunkers, marking shots, replacing the flag and sanding divots and staying with the group until they are back into position. To know a group s starting time, turn times, round times, out of position groups, gaps and record them on pace of play worksheet and to record and assess at least once each hour during the work schedule. To know a group s pace and position relative to the clocks and hole position schedule. To complete the divot repair and ball mark sheets during down time. To assist guests to get into position in a diplomatic and professional manner. To maintain a reasonable pace of play in order to ensure the golfing enjoyment of all golfers. To ensure that all carts are returned to the golf shop as scheduled and to assist outside services in the staging of golf carts needed for the day s operation. To enforce golf course policies regulating the use of golf equipment and facilities in a friendly and diplomatic manner. To have constant communication with all guests and to try to see each group twice per nine holes. To perform routine tasks to facilitate the use of the golf course, including replacing divots and repairing ball marks on the green, replacing ropes, picking up trash on the course and parking lots, and assisting players to locate balls.
To follow currently accepted golf rules to arbitrate players disputes, and to diplomatically point out players violations and to keep a daily log on any such violations. To report to the Head Golf Professional or Director of Golf any course maintenance practices that tend to encourage slow play. To report any slow groups to the Head Professional or Director of Golf on the day they are observed. To ensure that bathrooms are clean and stocked with the proper items and to clean and stock the bathrooms, as necessary. To ensure that the proper amount of water is in the coolers and to replace water in the coolers on the course, as needed. To check trash cans on the golf course and to empty, if necessary. To not hunt for golf balls under any circumstances unless specifically assisting a guest. General Duties: To follow all policies and procedures of JC Resorts LLC. To immediately report all suspicious occurrences and hazardous conditions. To maintain the cleanliness and safety of work areas at all times. To practice safe work habits at all times, to avoid injury to self and others, and to comply with company and departmental safety rules and regulations and the proper use and handling of all relevant equipment. To attend all mandatory meetings as directed. To perform other tasks, including cross training, as directed. JOB KNOWLEDGE & EDUCATIONAL LEVEL: High school diploma or equivalent required. English fluency required. Must have minimum one year experience in retail sales and be a registered PGA Apprentice. Some knowledge of golf preferred. Must have a thorough knowledge of turf conditions, golf rules and regulations, and playing ability. Current CPR certification preferred. Previous golf shop experience preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Works indoors and outdoors throughout the shift. Golf has limited space to move around displays. Golf shop is bi-level with limited space to move around displays. Golf course may be steeply graded. Conducts work on greens while games are in session and could be vulnerable to player s balls. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Stands/walks approximately 80% of shift; sits/drives approximately 20% of shift. Moderate to heavy use of phones, daily. Bends, stoops, and reaches to perform routine job tasks. Occasionally required to handle and move objects weighing up to 40 pounds over short distances. Flexibility and good reflexes required to operate electric cart. Must be able to withstand prolonged exposure to the sun. IMPACT OF DECISION: Decisions directly impact profitability of the Golf Shop, and the image of the facility. Poor decisions may result in customer dissatisfaction and loss of revenues, due to the lack of merchandise knowledge, inadequate knowledge of golf, unsafe work practices, or improper handling of customer service situations. GENERAL: Must comply with the Company s Appearance and Dress Code policy as set forth in the Employee Handbook. JOB CLASSIFICATION: The position is classified as Full-Time and, upon completion of the Introductory Period, the employee is eligible for the Employee Benefits outlined in the Employee Handbook.
