August 24, 2018 Grow Daily Back-to-School Mass SMCS celebrated our Back-to-School Mass last Sunday. The students earned a spirit-dress pass from Fr. Dennis, the Cardenas family received the Vocation Crucifix, and all enjoyed punch and cookies provided by our fabulous PTC. STAR Math and Reading Assessments Students in 1st-8th grade are beginning to take their first STAR Math and Reading Assessment of the year. These standards-based, computer-adaptive assessments measure students reading comprehension and math skills, monitor achievement and growth, and track understanding of focus skills aligned to your state-specific learning standards. Results provide individualized Lexile reading level and establish Accelerated Reader (AR) goals. Just as our Digital Discipleship app says, we are excited to see our students Grow Daily. Learning and Living Our Faith As part of our SMCS tradition, 8 th grade students kneel and pray as a class after every school Mass. 1 st grade students learned how to bless themselves with Holy Water before entering and after leaving the church.
Director of Campus Safety Mr. Carlos Garza SMCS is pleased to announce Mr. Carlos Garza as our new Director of Campus Safety. Mr. Garza is working closely with Dr. Grenardo, Mrs. Bloom, and Ms. Ibar along with our traffic police officers and a newly-formed Campus Safety Committee. The team works to conduct standard fire drills and maintain and improve campus safety. In fact, we will now have a plain-clothed officer in attendance at school Masses. Thank you, Coach Garza! Car Line For the safety of everyone entering our parking lot, please use the entrance designated on the below map. This procedure allows cars to flow freely while avoiding head-on collisions.
