Racing Scuttlebutt Mike Brescher The COMMODORE S CUP Regatta was sailed on December 15th in the North Fork of the St. Lucie River. The forecast was for 60% rain and 10-15 NW. We had a good turnout and the rain held off until the race had ended and the wind was calm to none. It was a basic drifting match but first four boats were able to sail and change positions at each mark keeping the race still exciting and fun. A great day to finish the year s racing. 12-Pack Update Raced December 1, 2018 - Mike Diamond The last 12 Pack race for 2018 was on December 1st. We had a stiff breeze out of the South and five participants. Freedom was fast from start to finish. Whisper started last and finished as a strong second. Sloop John B and Wild Rice reached the #1 mark at the same time, but Sloop John B was able to finish ahead of Wild Rice. My Weigh sailed through the anchorage north of the Deck, but had an unknown problem and did not finish. It was a great day to finish our 12 Pack series, but a little too windy to raft up. Order of finish: Freedom, Whisper, Sloop John B, Wild Rice, My Weigh I d like to request that everyone synch their watches with Time.Gov the night before our 12 Pack races, so we re all on the same time, since we do handicapped starts. We awarded trophies for the 12 Pack Racing Series at the club meeting on 12/3/18. The club had 14 different boats participate in a '12 Pack' race during 2018. 1st Place - Wild Rice (with 23 points) - Full Sail Trophy Case (variety 12 pack) 2nd Place - Sloop John B (with 25 points) - 6 pack of Full Sail Amber Ale 3rd Place - Whisper (with 34 points) - 6 pack of Full Sail Premium Lager Full Sail Brewing, the Official Beer of the SLSC 12 Pack Racing Series! 3
