Johnson Director at Large: Robert Gibbs General Counsel: Marshall Medlin SASBA South Central Dir: Jim Kimg FLEMING & PAINTER Mike Fleming and Kerry Painter ran away from the field winning the Ebonite Senior Tour s member-member tournament at Don Carter City View in Fort Worth. They lead the qualifying by 203 pins and never looked back winning the tournament by 156 pins. Jim Stephens and Michael Warren finished second, Jimmy Young and David Rountree were third, Roger West and Phil Ballard fourth, and Ron Benz and Grady Creasie were fifth. More spares were missed than maybe in any tournament ever. The lanes started out hooking and tightened up as play ensued. If you got the shot a little wide on both sides, the ball would skate. A tug shot would runaway. Good shots were required and both sides of the lane seemed to have no advantage. Now that Peggy is a SS, she and I are going to London to celebrate. This is her birthday present. We will return on May 24th in Jamie s Tournament Notes Ron DePolo rolled a 115 to win the dog of the week award for low game of the tournament. Honorable mention has to go the stars Rick Minier 117 game and Jim King 128 game. Jackie Putnam and Roger West both had lilies. Roger said that it was his first one ever. Jim King commented that the only reason that Roger s bal always caried the ten to prevent any lilies. The Baby Gorilla made the finals again. David Addington liked it. A super senior won the sweeper, again. Wally Cummings got all of his strikes Friday. Mark Estes is covered with spur marks. time to motor to Port Arthur our next event. This is a combo tournament. This means two tournaments in one not a doubles tournament. There will be $2000 added to the Senior Tournament and the same for the Super Senior Tournament. We have new owners in this fine center, see ya there. Maury Newman never found the right ball, did he even bring the right one? We saw Steve McBride. Jerry Swank had trouble carrying the bucket. Fluff, Fluff, Fluff.

Page 4 OLE! OLE! Ten red-hatted senoras and five guests gathered at Pulidos Mexican Restaurant to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. We had a blast! Great location, great atmosphere, great food, and the company of a great bunch of ladies made for a super event. We even had a cute, young waiter who blushed every time Peggy said something to him. Mucho gracias to our hostess, CeCe Garcia. After a delicious lunch, we played Mexican Bingo and we all got a chance to brush up on our Spanish. Kathy Creasie, who we were happy to welcome back after a long absence, won twice and Donna Smith (who brought along her three sisters, Betty Jo Kempf, Deloris Higgins, and Sandy Roe) won the other game. I think your Queenie had a bad card! Billie Jean Workman, looking very authentic in her purple Mexican outfit, won the door prize, two beautiful stained glass sun catchers. B.J. brought along our fourth guest, Ann Workman, who is supposed to be Stanley s aunt. I m not sure how that al worked out because she certainly did not look old enough to be Stanley s aunt! Our Ms. Brooks broke al rules by bringing a man (our fifth guest) who sat on her lap the entire time. CeCe had darling red hat mugs and handmade red and purple flowers for everyone, and we gifted CeCe with a small token of our appreciation. Secret Sister gifts were opened a BIG THANKS to my Secret Sister. The blue and white spongeware pitcher has already found a special place in my collection. Sharon Beltz (who wasn t there) volunteered to host our September Event in New Braunfels. I hope someone tels her before she reads this article in the newsletter. The Ladybug Award went to Gayle Currie who was the fifth person to RSVP for CeCe s de Mayo. Next month I wil be giving the Ladybug Award to the sixth person to RSVP for our June Event which will be hosted by Bettie Sands in Shreveport. Bettie is always a great hostess so I know this will be an outstanding event. Mark your Red Hat Calendar for Saturday, June 4. Details will be forthcoming. I hope al you talented Red Hatters are busy getting your stuf ready for Betty Britton s Little Shop of Hobbies in July. Peggy reported on our TOP SECRET EVENT OF THE YEAR which is scheduled for November and we also discussed our Annual Christmas Party. I will be sending you some information on the Christmas Party in the near future. The remainder of the year looks pretty exciting so make your plans now. You will not want to miss any of these events. Adiόs until next time!
