PRESIDENTS PRESSINGS Hi everyone, Well we are almost at the end of another year of club activities with the AGM. Earlier this year the club made changes to the club constitution to comply with new regulations. The club year and AGM dates were changed. Hopefully we will have elected a new committee to manage the club going into 2019. Under the new rules and regulations in the club constitution my term as President comes to an end this year. A Club President can now only remain as President for a maximum five years. The time seems to have flown by and my role has been made an easy task because of all the help I have had from our committee persons. Living in the country I have had to delegate some of my duties to our committee members and I would like to thank them all for their help in these matters. I would like to sincerely thank Brian Eyre, Ray Hudson and John Hall for all their help in dealing with many important issues that I was responsible for, but because of reasons I have mentioned I am prevented from being able to attend to throughout the year. I would like to continue on in another position on the incoming committee maybe as newsletter editor, unless other members may like to step into this role. The combined French and Car Club run to the Western Australian Motor Museum was a great day with a very good turn up of members representing all the clubs invited. We were blessed with wonderful fine weather that made for a most enjoyable drive through the hills beyond Perth to the Motor Museum at Whiteman Park. This event was the second combined clubs event to be run this year. The French and Fantastic Automobile Car Club organized a similar combined run earlier in the year. Some of our members were able to attend this day too and enjoyed it very much. I hope these events will become regular social events in 2019. PHOTO AT DEPARTURE It was great to see a good display of rare older model vehicles attending the run, such as the lovely Renault R8 Gordini, several 2CV and ID model Citroen`s along with the many newer sporty Renault models. It was very pleasing to see such a great display of our own member vehicles. Gordon and Ruth Hort`s recently restored 504 pickup attracted a lot of interest during the day, as did Dennis Brosnan`s 404 pickup. Brian and Sandra Eyre`s 205 GTi racer and Peter and Pam Jones immaculate 407 coupe gained a lot of attention from the public when on display at the motor museum. Neville Grimson enjoyed the day attending his first club event in his recently registered 1968 404 sedan. We drove our 404 wagon up from Busselton, it was in the good company of Peter Shelfhouts 404 wagon. Peter Olsen came along in his new 308. It would have been a nice day out for Peter`s Renault 4CV. Maybe next year. PHOTOS OF SOME CLUB CARS AT WHITEMAN PARK See over
Cont: The next club social event will be the French Car Festival to be held on Saturday 13th October in the Market Square Gardens in Subiaco. I am sure our members will enjoy the day as it will be similar to the French Car Day`s of past years. So let us get behind the organizers and support the event with a good display of club vehicles. This is what we wanted the day to be. Now it is up to all the French Car Clubs members to make the day a great event. The club weekend away date is confirmed that it is the weekend of Sat / Sun 24 th, 25 th. I have contacted our members with details about the weekend and this was also discussed at the August Club meeting. It was enjoyed by all in attendance. It was great to have Granville Nicholson back at the club after recovering from having a hip replacement. Granville would like to thank those members who were able to visit him in hospital and when he returned home. Your visits were most appreciated by Granville when he was Housebound during his weeks of recovery. Welcome back Granville. On behalf of all the club members I would like to wish a very happy 30 th birthday to our youngest club member Blake Robertson -Hall. Blake celebrated his birthday In style on Friday 6 th August.
