We will be celebrating our students from 1 st quarter soon that achieved Honor Roll, Deans List, and Perfect Attendance. Great job to all of these students. Look for the list of names in our next newsletter. To start the new quarter we will be welcoming many new students and another teacher to our community. We are definitely at capacity for our site but hate turning people away. We only wish that we could accommodate everyone that is looking to be a part of our community but we will look at accepting more students at the semester. Please join me in welcoming our new community members. As always please contact us with any questions or concerns. Sincerely, Troy Krotz Principal School Website Advertising in this newsletter does not imply endorsement by Poudre School District.

PAGE 2 Attendance Please remember our attendance policy at PCA. It is very important that all absences be communicated with the office. You can contact Sugar at 490-3353 if your child is going to be absent. All absences must be excused within 48 hours. Unexcused absences can cause your child to lose credit and be removed from the day program. Please work with us to improve attendance. PCA Wish List At PCA we do not issue supply lists for school or charge any fees. We will continue that policy but we also have a need for some items that would help around the school. We are asking for donations of the following items: Composition notebooks Spiral notebooks Hand Sanitizer and Kleenex Any items that can be donated would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!

PAGE 4 We ve Got Spirit We ve Got Spirit! Yes, we do! We ve Got Spirit! How about you? By Joeleen Castorino PCA Students! Spirit week is coming up very soon, and it s time to show your school spirit! Tuesday is meme day: dress as your favorite funny but school appropriate meme. Wednesday is Halloween: so, wear your costume to school, but masks, face paints and violence aren t allowed. Thursday is sports day: wear your jersey and hat! Friday is flannel day: so, wear your favorite flannel. Another spirit week is coming later in the year, show your pride in the PCA Warriors!

PAGE 5 Fall By Hope Fall is a very pretty time of year in my opinion. The leaves start changing colors and the weather gets a little bit colder. Some people plan vacations during this time of year because there are so many pretty sites to see and visit. Colorado Springs is a good fall vacation spot because on the drive up there are so many trees and leaves start to fall and they are all so colorful. There are too many places to count. You can't even remember them all because it is so cool up there!!! If you re looking for a cool vacation spot to chill at during Halloween go to Colorado Springs, it gets pretty poppin down there.

PAGE 6 My Favorite Classes at PCA By Janaya Keller All classes at PCA are great but my bar far favorite are College Algebra, Art Club, and History. College algebra is one of my favorite classes because it challenges me and provokes thought. Most classes I have are boring to me, because I really don't learn anything, and I just sit there already obtaining the information that they re teaching me. History is also one of my favorite classes because we learn so much and it's not the typical history that we learn in the text books. It's also not trying to make all the white people look like the good guys. Art club is my overall favorite class because it's an independent class, we get to come up with our projects and only have deadlines for when we must have two big projects done. I love learning new things and being able to hold good conversation based off the things I ve learned in school. Being in classes that interest you is important because if you go through school not really engaging in stuff then you're not learning anything. Having an education is super important in this generation because it helps you make good decisions and to think for yourself.

PAGE 7 Single Parent Families By Deja Families can take many different forms; one form is single parent households. I live in a single parent household, and for me I ve never been happier. For other people, it might be way different. My mom was never really a part of my life, up until five years ago. I was very unhappy and insecure, but now that it s my dad and me again, I feel like I m living my life as a teenager. Other kids my age or younger are miserable without their mom or dad. Which I understand that it s different for everyone. The reason why life is so good with my dad is because he lets me do things my mom wouldn t like me doing. For example, going to the malls, or having my friends come over. I ve always had this bond with my dad that I haven t with my mom. Single parent families can sometimes be a good thing. What s Life Like with a Single Parent? By Adelina Growing up with only one parent is hard, but there are many things you can do to help make it easier. You mostly try and distract yourself from thinking about it too much. You thank your parent for everything for everything, because it is hard. You hang out with your friends a lot, and you look forward to going to school to see your peers. You play lots of sports and get involved. You try and do things that don t cost money. You keep your home life down low. You have a huge heart.

PAGE 8 Elephants By Lexie Elephants are interesting animals and are very unique. What I really wanted to focus on was their skin and how they get wrinkles. So, elephants live in very hot places and they get very, very dry. Most baby elephants don't have many wrinkles but throughout the years their skin wrinkles and gets very hard. It s so the skin stays hydrated. They roll in mud and it dries up between the wrinkles and leaves it moisturized. More fun facts about elephants: elephants are the biggest animals on earth. Elephants can eat 300 pounds of food a day, which is so much food!! Elephants are amazing!

PAGE 9 Skateboarding By Bobby Skateboarding is popular sport for many high school students. What s unique about skateboarding is that you are your own team. Skateboarding is also fun because you can go anywhere to do it. Another fact, that I like about skateboarding is that is very healthy and good for your body. Sometimes, when I have bad days skateboarding is a good stress reliever. To become a good skateboarder, you need to practice and work on balancing. Skateboarding is cool because anyone can do it!

PAGE 10 Stuft Burger: A Restaurant Review By Lexi Have you ever thought of creating your burger of your dreams? Then, you should think of going to Stuft Burger. Stuft opened in 2010 in old town in Fort Collins, CO and another opened in 2014 in Greely. You can build your own burger from the ground up. They have many varieties of food you can add on to your burger. And, if you re not a big meat eater, there are a lot of veggies. You can choose from so many topping: from caramelized onions to glazed donuts as your buns. The bartender hand spins every milkshake. You can also buy some merchandise from the restaurant, such as shirts to tank tops and gift cards. They also do catering for parties or get togethers. I think this is a unique restaurant which everyone should visit some point in life! Sweetener by Ariana Grande : A Music Review By Benita Ariana Grande s new album Sweetener was released August 17th, 2018. Her album has gotten over 1 billion streams on Spotify. Sweetener has come out as her 4th album she s released. The album was a whole different vibe then any of the previous ones she s made, it was more of a self-confident vibe. She has had a couple features with Pharrell Williams, Nicki Minaj, and Missy Elliot. The album debuted at number 1 on the billboard 200. Also topped international charts all over. The genres it falls under are pop, R&B, rap and trap.
