SPORTS YOUTH ACTIVITIES CAMPS SPORTS CAMPS TUESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY 9:00AM - 3:00PM SESSION 1: JUNE 5-8 SESSION 2: JULY 10-13 $299 PER Our Junior Sports Camps are ideal for children 7 to 12 years of age that have some golf and/or tennis experience. Campers will work on improving their tennis and golf skills during the morning, then break for lunch at the pool. After lunch, kids will swim and play team-building games. LITTLE BOMBERS CAMPS WEDNESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY 9:00AM - 12:00PM SESSION 1: JUNE 27-29 SESSION 2: JULY 18-20 $99 PER Little Bombers are kids age 4 to 8 who are beginning to learn golf and tennis. Campers will enjoy a fun environment while learning the fundamentals of both sports. Lunch will be offered each day followed by a dip in the pool to end the day.
MEET OUR GOLF GOLF STAFF THOMAS TRONCOSO, PGA - HEAD GOLF PROFESSIONAL Thomas has 20 years of working in the golf industry. He was the Junior Golf Director at The Thornblade Club (Greer, SC), Bent Creek CC (Lancaster, PA), Chestnut Ridge CC (Baltimore, MD) and Hillendale CC (Baltimore, MD). He joined the management staff at GCC in 2015. He has a passion for coaching and helping juniors become better golfers. He and his wife Maureen have two adult sons, Brian and Shawn. TODD NALETTE, PGA - FIRST ASSISTANT PROFESSIONAL Todd joined the GCC golf staff in 2015. Our club's very own "Happy Gilmore," Todd's first passion is hockey. As a matter of fact, his entire family plays hockey - his wife of 15 years, Jessica, and his two daughters, Vanessa & Karleigh. Todd spent most of his life in snowy Vermont but moved to Fort Mill in 2014 in search of year-round golf weather. Todd loves working with kids and having fun, making him the perfect pro for our junior golf programs. BRITT BATES - ASSISTANT PROFESSIONAL Since graduating from the Golf Academy of America in December 2007, Britt has been working in the golf business. He grew up in Gastonia and began working at GCC in 2014. Britt and his wife Kalyn have a daughter, Krystal, and a son, Braesyn. Britt has a passion for working with junior golfers and focuses on helping them on and off the course. JOE TOLAND - ASSISTANT PROFESSIONAL Like Todd, Joe is also from Vermont but decided to move south and attend college at UNC Charlotte where he played on the golf team. After graduating in 2014, he played golf professionally for a year before joining the GCC team. Joe is one of the favorites among the kids that attend our junior camps thanks to his playful personality. Joe and his fiancé Maddy share a home with several dogs and cats, including a few fosters from time to time.

Juniors will also spend time on the golf course playing. Juniors are broken up into age and skill appropriate groups in order to ensure the proper instruction. GOLF GOLF CAMPS GOLF CAMPS TUESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY 9:00AM - 3:00PM SESSION #1: JUNE 12-15 SESSION #2: AUGUST 7-10 $299 PER CAMPER (ALL INCLUSIVE) These camps are geared toward beginner and intermediate level juniors. In the morning we will blend instruction, rules, etiquette, strategy, competition and sportsmanship for a fun learning experience. The afternoon will be filled with lunch, games and a dip in the pool. On Friday, the camp will conclude with play on the golf course, a pizza party and an awards ceremony. This camp offers a great opportunity for junior golfers to make lasting friendships while improving their ability and understanding of the game.
GOLF GOLF SCRAMBLES PRO/ SCRAMBLE Friday, July 6 Shotgun: 5:30pm Awards & Dinner: 7:30pm $15 per junior (all inclusive) Ages 4 and up Limited to 28 juniors This event allows junior golfers to play in a fun, competitive environment with the Club's golf professionals. The format is a team scramble with juniors and one member of the professional staff. This event is a a great way to introduce juniors to a fun yet competitive golf tournament under the direct supervision of the professional staff. FAMILY CLASSIC SCRAMBLE Saturday, July 7 Shotgun: 5:30pm Dinner: 7:30pm $15 per player (includes cart) This event is the perfect way to spend a warm, summer evening with the entire family. One team member must be a GCC member. The format will be a 9-hole scramble, allowing participation by all family members. This event will not be handicapped. Dinner will follow play.

GOLF INTERCLUB INTERCLUB Junior Interclub is a great way to introduce junior golfers to competition in a fun and laid back format. MEET OUR TENNIS TENNIS STAFF KEVIN ISENHOUR - DIRECTOR OF TENNIS Kevin began at GCC as the Head Tennis Professional in 1999 and recently was promoted to Director of Tennis. Kevin is a certified Elite USPTA professional and a certified PTR Professional. During his time here he has enjoyed working with juniors and watching their tennis skills grow.kevin lives in Gastonia with his wife Robin and their son, J.B. and enjoys all that this community has to offer. WILL BORDERS - HEAD TENNIS PROFESSIONAL Born and raised in Shelby, NC, Will has been immersed in tennis his entire life. In college he played for the Lees-McRae Bobcats, then coached at Gardner Webb University and most recently taught at Linville Ridge Country Club. Will, his wife Adrienne, and two girls, Willow and Harper, moved to Gastonia and joined the tennis team in 2018. He is looking forward to getting to know all members and their families, especially the kids. ED JAVORNIK - ASSISTANT TENNIS PROFESSIONAL Ed has been with us 9 years and is a certified USPTA Instructor. He is a native of Massachusetts but spent his youth in Venezuela. Ed joined the Air Force at the age of 18 and has been stationed all over the United States. He began teaching tennis in Texas and fell in love with the sport. During his time at GCC he had the pleasure and privilege of learning from former Director of Tennis, J.W. Isenhour, and continues to use that knowledge while on the courts with our juniors.

TENNIS TENNIS BOOT CAMP BACK TO SCHOOL TENNIS BOOT CAMP MONDAY, AUGUST 6 THROUGH THURSDAY, AUGUST 9 10:30AM - 2:30PM $240 PER BOOT CAMPER (ALL INCLUSIVE) RECOMMENDED FOR AGES 12-18 This 4-day program is ideal for those looking to develop fundamentals skills through drills and match-play situations. Methods will be modified as needed based on age and skill level. Boot campers will also work on the 5 components of the player pathway - physical, technical, tactical, mental and emotional - all while having fun with our professional staff. There will be a total of 3 hours on-court time with a break for lunch at the pool grill and will be led by head tennis professional Will Borders. Contact the tennis shop for more information.
SWIM TEAM POOL THE GCC CLIPPERS The focus of the Clippers swim team is on team spirit and fun. Coaches work with your child to improve skills and techniques as well as build self confidence and teach the importance of team work. GCC Clippers compete in the Gaston Invitational Swim Association (GISA) in both the 6 & under and 7 & up meets. The registration fee is $65 per swimmer. Practices are held Monday through Friday beginning Monday, June 4 from 4:30-5:00pm (6 & under) and 5:00-6:00pm (7 & up). SWIM LESSONS POOL LEARN TO SWIM AT GCC Swim Club Management Group believes in providing children with a positive environment in which they can feel comfortable and learn basic water safety.
