Wednesday, November 15, 2017 Dear Parents & Students, NO SCHOOL Thanksgiving Break Monday, November 20th-Friday, November 24th Our Cool Nights & Starry Skies Flannel Hollywood Nights party was a huge success thanks to many Heirway parents and the junior class. Heirway would like to personally thank the Willoughby family for cutting, delivering and providing firewood for the bonfire, and Grant Willoughby for helping Mr. Brown clear out the bonfire area. Special thanks also to the Junior class and their parents for helping with the event and Alan & Nikki Taylor, Christy Berry, Bettina Duff, Mr. Matteson and Mrs. Ashlock for chaperoning. Thanks also to Mr. Matteson for providing transportation to and from the school and to Brooke Turnipseed for providing hot chocolate and corn hole. Paulette Brown, PAC President Heirway is partnering this year with Douglas County for Toys for Tots. Please send in a new, unwrapped toy November 16- December 7. We will be taking donations for newborns through age 12. Gifts for ages 11-12 typically experience shortages, so please consider board games, basketballs, electronics, watches and more for this age group. Let s help ensure no child is left behind this holiday season. The following items are available now from the Cheesecake Fundraiser! They are 1 st come 1 st serve basis. If you would like to purchase, please call Christy Berry at 770-598-9324. 3 New York Original Cheesecakes @ $25 1 Caramel Apple Walnut Pie @ $20 2 Oreo cheesecakes @ $25 2 Reece s Cheesecakes @ $26 6 Oreo Churros @ $20 3 Peanut Butter Chocolate Cookie Dough @ $18 1 Carrot Cake @ $24

The class who collects the most Box tops in November and December will get to have a cookie party in January when we return from the holidays! Thanks for supporting our school! Elementary Student Council will be sponsoring a Canned Food Drive. The food collected will be given to families in need for their Thanksgiving lunch. The last day to bring food is THIS Friday, November 17 th. Spare Change Week- The PAC would like to remind students that Spare Change Week is this week. The spare change collected will help fund Teacher Appreciation Week. Thanks for your support. Our Thanksgiving Service will be THIS Friday, November 17th at 9:30 am. Students may dress as Pilgrims or Indians. All family and friends are invited to attend. Please be mindful and pass along to your family members that plan to join us on Friday that we have specific parking requests. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO USE our lot and the Masons Lodge. Please DO NOT USE the Loving Hands and Good Samaritan Lot or the church across the street for parking. PAC is asking each family to bring a dessert for the Thanksgiving luncheon. Happy Birthday!! Mr. Timothy Thomas- November 24 Hello Elementary Parents! The time is upon us to prepare for elementary basketball and cheerleading! The proposed schedule will be practices on Wednesday afternoons and games on Saturday mornings for the latter part of January, throughout all of February, and the first Saturday in March. (This INCLUDES Saturday, February 17 even though it is winter break.) We will have an official schedule the night of the info meeting. This program is open to students PreK - 5th grade. Our informational meeting will be on Thursday, December 7th at 7:00 pm in Heirway's gym. Please plan to come if you are interested and bring your child as we will have uniforms for sizing purposes. The cost for the 6 week program is $40 per child. (***PLEASE NOTE; We will have two Wednesday practices before our first Saturday game. First practice is on January 17th, first game is on January 27th.) All payments must be made before uniforms can be purchased. Attendance to the meeting is extremely important so orders can be made in a timely manner. Because we are offering sizing, no exchanges can be made once an order is placed. For this reason we ask that you are certain of your child's uniform size before you mark it on the form. We are also in need of parent volunteers for the following; Coaches, both BBall & Cheer Referees Clock/Score Keeper Concessions Set up/ Tear down Please let us know if you are able to help in any way, your assistance is necessary to ensure a successful program. Thank you! Timothy J. Thomas, Head of School Heirway Christian Academy
