June 2013, subject to previous sold out USE OF ENTRY FEE For your entry fee you will receive the following benefits: Cordoned off race course Time keeping using a transponder system Swim cap, race number, race number belt Kitbag Pasta party including drink (service fee: 1 ; registration is obligatory) Showers and change facilities Catering prior, during and after the race Medical care in emergencies, massages Finisher medal ADMISSION CRITERIA Admitted are any classifiable handicapped athlete, provided there are no medical objections The required final time is 2 hours As regards equipment the DTU sports regulations and the ITU Competition Rules shall be applicable. Valid national license from ITU Member associations and classification according to the ITU rules; international classifiers will be present at the start on Saturday Also observe the "10 commandments", which can be found in the internet at: www.hamburg-triathlon.org ITU PARATRIATHLON CATEGORIES ITU Paratriathlon Categories according to Section P of ITU Competition Rules The ITU categories for Athletes with a Disability are described in the current version of the ITU Competition Rules. There are no age group divisions for Athletes with a Disability. The current six categories are the following: TRI1: Handcycle Paraplegic, Tetraplegic (above TH1), Polio, Double Leg Amputee. Must use hand cycle on bike course and racing wheel chair on run. TRI2: Severe leg impairment including above knee amputee: TRI3: Les Autre Athlete with leg amputation on one side above the knee. Cycles and runs with prosthesis or crutches. All disabilities which are not described by TRI1 till TRI5 and that restrict movement by at least 15%, e.g. Cerepral- Paresis, Muscular Dystrophies and disabilities that objectively result in explicit restrictions and can be related to an ITU profile; Double Arm Amputee; athletes with double leg amputation running with prosthesis, crutches or other walking aids (walker); Limitations such as asthma, neurodermatitis or hearing impairment are by means of the ITU Competition Rules no classifiable disabilities. TRI4: Arm impairment

Single Arm Amputee (above or below elbow), Upper Extremity Paralysis resulting in significant restriction of arm movement. May use prosthesis, brace or sling on the bike and/or run. TRI5: Moderate leg impairment including below knee amputee Leg Amputee one-sided below the knee. Rides bicycle and runs with prosthesis or crutches. TRI6: Athletes with Visual impairment (Visual Impairment, legally blind (20/200 with best corrective vision) Visual impairment with visual acuity of maximum 2/60 and/or with restriction of the field of sight of minimum 5 20 degrees (all classifications result from the better eye and from best corrective vision). A handler of the same sex is mandatory throughout the race. Athlete is tethered during the swim, uses a tandem bicycle and may be tethered during the run. Number of allowed assistants TRI2: two TRI1, TRI3, TRI4, TRI5: one each TRI6: no additional handler except the guide Classification All athletes must be classified into one of the six ITU paratriathlon categories. The ITU categories will be assigned according to the ITU Competition Rules. The race officials may disallow participation from unclassifiable athletes or allow participation with certain conditions. Ranking in the International German Paratriathlon Championships is not possible without valid classification! Swimming: It is generally recommended to wear a neoprene suit due to health reasons (protection against cold). If it is mandatory to wear such a suit due to the water temperature, the participant has to provide for such equipment. But usually the following applies: Swimming in waters below 14 C is prohibited. Participants in the Paratriathlon may wear a neoprene suit, irrespective of the water temperature! Cycling: Admitted will be all bicycles meeting the DTU requirements. Front and rear wheel brakes must function properly. The race number must be worn on the back (TRI1 also allowed on the back). Slipstreaming shall be prohibited. Triathlon handle bars are allowed. All participants must wear a homologated helmet. Running: It is strictly compulsory to do the run circuit completely clothed. The race number must be worn during running on the front. Athletes in wheelchairs are also forbidden to slipstream on the running section and must wear a helmet! Apart from the TRI5 athletes, it is not allowed to be accompanied or helped on the running route. TRI1 and TRI6 Paratriathlon athletes leave the transition area for the run by way of the bike entrance to the left. Competition rules The DTU rulebook and ITU competition rules apply.. THE OFFICIAL MERCHANDISING COLLECTION 2013 ZOOT SPORTS For the ITU World Triathlon Hamburg 2013 we would like to offer you again in close collaboration with our partner Zoot Sports the official merchandising collection which you can order during your registration process!

REGISTRATION Registration procedure There are two possible ways to register. You may either register ONLINE by visiting the website at www.hamburg-triathlon.org or you complete the registration form) and return it by mail to the organiser s address. Registrations by fax, e-mail or as a copy will not be accepted. With your registration, you also confirm that you have read and accepted the General Terms and Conditions. The entry fee will be collected from your account by way of direct debiting. You will be charged with 46.00 euros if the timing chip gets lost or is not returned. The use of your own timing chip is prohibited due to organisational reasons. Closing date, later registration and race slot transfer Closing date of registration is 21 June 2013. It will be possible to register at the accreditation tent with a late registration fee of 15.00 euros incl. V.A.T. Please note that accreditation is not possible without classification! A race slot transfer will only be possible until 21 June 2013 in written form or on site at the accreditation tent. After receiving your official entry confirmation, you can personally appoint a substitute, who will be acquiring all of the booked services. An administrative fee of 20.00 euros incl. V.A.T. will be charged for the processing of the substitution. A race slot can only be transferred once. Accreditation can be done on 18. and 19. July 2013. BEFORE THE RACE Accreditation and race documents You will be informed of the opening hours for accreditation on your entry confirmation. Upon presenting the entry confirmation and your identity card/passport, you will receive: Race number and race number belt Swimming cap Frame number (for bike), 1 helmet number Handbook with all important race information 1 kitbag Timing chip If you are unable to pick up your starting papers personally, another person presenting a written and signed authorisation from you and a copy of your ID card may pick the papers on your behalf. For the exact procedure, please refer to your entry confirmation. Race briefing You will be informed in due time of the exact time and place. You will be able to find all competition information on our homepage and at the accreditation. Time keeping Time keeping will be carried out in real time through a timing chip that is attached to the participant s ankle. Your time will be taken at the start and finish lines, as well as at check points at the end of the distances and at the entrance and exit of the transition area. Your times will be available on the homepage. Participants who fail to wear the timing chip will be disqualified. Bike Check In / Transition Area Your check-in time depends on your starting time. You will find your individual bike check-in time at our website at an early stage. Please note the information in the participant information sheet too.

Changing zone notes After the swim, there is a stairway of around 15 steps. Helpers will carry the wheelchair competitors up at this stage. The distance from the finish of the swim to the changing zone is 700m (just under ½ mile) Wheelchair competitors may mount the handbike directly after the swim and ride to the changing zone. Please ride carefully! Wearers of artificial limbs may put these on directly after the swim. Seats will be available for this purpose. The Paratriathlon area is at the end of the changing zone. Both TRI1 and TRI6 paratriathletes are allowed to leave the transition area for the run by way of the bike entrance at sector A to the left direction Lombardsbrücke! Kitbag The kitbag containing your personal items can be dropped at a central collection point immediately before the race begins. For race clothes, a box next to your bike in the transition zone will be provided. The clothes must be deposited there when the bike is checked in. Bike check in and transition area The exact check-in time will depend on your start time and will be published on the internet. Please also refer to the information on your information handbook. Shower and change facilities The change facilities will be in the transition area at Ballindamm and in the inner city. Change and shower facilities, as well as a massage service, can be found at the Athlete's Village prior to and after the race, at a central point in the city centre of Hamburg. THE COMPETITION Start times Saturday, 20 July 2013, approx. 09:30 a.m. The exact start times will be given upon accreditation and also on the internet at our homepage before the event. The start location will be situated at the Binnenalster in the inner city of Hamburg. The transition zones for the two changes will be situated in Ballindamm. For an overview of the entire race course, go to our website: www.hamburg-triathlon.org. Course notes The swim starts with all competitors and the attendants for the blind competitors in the water. The bike route has two climbs and two descents each circuit. Wheelchair competitors on the run section: o The running course is between 1.5 and 4 metres wide. Wheelchairs will not always be able to overtake. o There is a dangerous descent at kilometre 0.5. o There is a dangerously narrow point by the American Consulate at kilometre 3. o 5% of the run is not tarmaced. o There are two uneven joints between the run and the bike route. Catering There will be several catering points along the race course and at the finish. For detailed information, please refer to your race information handbook.

Time limit 2 hours Closing of finish line: Saturday, approx.12:00 p.m. AFTER THE RACE Finish area The finish will be at Rathausmarkt. After you have received your medal, you have to leave the race course immediately in the direction of the catering point, so as not to impede the oncoming participants. Timing chip return The timing chip has to be returned to the check-out point as you leave the transition area to check out your bike. Please keep the receipt issued there until the end of the year for verification purposes. If a participant fails to return the timing chip during bike check-out, a penalty fee of 46.00 euros will be charged by the organiser. This will be collected by direct debiting, or credit card (VISA or Mastercard) if the participant has no German bank account, after the event. If for some important reason the timing chip cannot be returned immediately after the race, it must be sent back by mail to the organiser s address by 27 July 2013. Medal engraving We offer all participants the opportunity to have the finisher medal custom engraved (name, distance, time). The medal engraving can be ordered directly during the registration process for 8.50 euros. You will find more information on locating the medal engraving booth at the venue in due time on our homepage, or on the race information handbook. Check-out times Important: Collection of bikes and clothes from the transition zone will only be possible from 1:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.! Please note that these times cannot be changed, as they are there to prevent the disturbance in the transition zone of the ongoing competition. Please plan your departure times and arrangements to correspond with the allotted time for you to collect your bike. Checking out your bike at an earlier time is only possible for select cases and circumstances. We will publish so-called emergency check out times in the race information handbook. Online Service: Results, photos of participants, certificates The results will be published on the homepage soon after the race. You can download your personal certificate including your race results free of charge. Your personal photos and your certificate including photo can be ordered online through our photo partner. Detailed information can be obtained from the website and upon accreditation. Hamburg Sports Foundation (Stiftung Leistungssport Hamburg) Sportsmen support young Talent Upsolut Event GmbH supports the Stiftung Leistungssport Hamburg. The foundation is tasked with finding young talent and encouraging their development in close cooperation with clubs and federations. Without financial help we can achieve nothing but you can help, by adding a euro to your starting fee payment. It just takes one tick in the box. Each donation goes directly and without reduction to the developing talents. More to this at www.stiftung-leistungssport.de Defrauding the Organiser by Participating Under a False Name Participants who have transferred their own race slot to other persons to participate with, without ensuring that said slot was not rightfully transferred to the acquiring person's name, will receive a ban to race at the organiser's event for at least 3

subsequent years. Furthermore, the organiser reserves the right to pursue further legal measures. Participants that race under a false name shall generally receive a lifetime ban from participating in the organiser's event. In addition, the organiser reserves the right to charge a fine of 500 euros, as well as pursue further legal measures for such transgressions. The fine will be donated for charitable purposes. Conditions of Participation / General Business Terms ITU World Triathlon Hamburg 1 REQUIREMENTS (1) Everyone properly registered and accredited and having an official race number of the ITU World Triathlon Hamburg 2013 can take part in the race. (2) For the sprint distance only athletes born in 1997 and for the Olympic distance athletes born in 1995 or earlier will be admitted. Participants under the age of 18 will need a declaration of consent signed by a parent. No club or federations membership will be required. (3) For the sprint distance relay races only athletes born in 1998 or earlier (swimmer) and 2000 or earlier (cyclist and runner) will be admitted. For the Olympic distance relay races only athletes born in 1997 or earlier (swimmer) and 1999 or earlier (cyclist and runner) will be admitted. (4) Every participant shall take part in the race briefing. Please observe the information on special hazardous points on your starting information (you will receive upon accreditation). 2 OBLIGATIONS (1) Every participant shall make sure that his/her health is in a condition that allows him/her to take part in the event, and consult a doctor if necessary. He/she shall have proper equipment and wear a helmet during the entire competition. This helmet must be in compliance with the DTU regulations. (2) The guidelines and recommendations by the organizer and instructions by the organizer, the officials and race marshals shall be strictly followed. If a participant fails to do so thus disturbing the race or the safety of other participants, the organizer shall be entitled to expel or disqualify such participant from the event. (3) After the race all timing transponders have to be returned to one of the collection points. If participants fail to do so, a fee amounting to 46.00 will be charged by the organizer. This will be collected by direct debiting after the event. If for some important reason the transponder cannot be returned immediately after the race, it can be sent back by mail to the organizer s address by 27 July 2013. 3 CONTRACT (1) The application that constitutes a binding offer of a contract vis-à-vis the organizer, can be filed by sending the completed and signed registration form or ONLINE under www.hamburg-triathlon.org. (2) Each participant may only enter himself. Double entries will not be accepted i.e. if the same person is entered twice, there is no right of a second starting position, or of return of entry fee. (3) The contract shall be considered concluded when the registration form bears the signature of the participant or he/she accepted the conditions of participation and the regulations by clicking the relevant field in the ONLINE registration form. In case of minors the registration form must be signed by a parent or guardian who at the same time confirms his/her acceptance of the participation conditions also on behalf of spouse. To be allowed to start, the entry fee must have been received by the organizer and the participant must have received the official registration confirmation. 4 PAYMENT (1) Participants having a German bank account may pay by way of debiting (collection order) or credit card. Payment by credit card (VISA or Mastercard) will only be possible for those having a foreign account (no debiting possible). Cash payment will, of course, be possible. (2) If the money cannot be collected due to insufficient cover of account or revocation by participant (also at a later date) the organizer shall be entitled to withdraw from contract after having set a time limit and charge the participant with the costs of withdrawal. Costs that arise from a return debit note, which include an administrative charge in the amount of 7.50 for the Organiser, as well as the corresponding charge of the respective credit institute, will be assumed by the participant in every case. 5 ACCREDITATION (1) Upon accreditation (in the city centre) each participant will receive his/her starting papers only against presentation of the registration confirmation and identity card/passport. If a participant cannot appear personally, he/she has to make sure that the starting papers are picked by a person being in the possession of a written authorization. In addition to the completed authorisation form, the authorised person must present a copy of the ID and the official registration confirmation at the registration area. The starting papers cannot be sent by mail. (2) If the participant has lost his/her official entry confirmation or is unable to present said document, a replacement confirmation shall be handed out by showing the identity card/passport. A flat charge for processing and material expense in the amount of 1.00 shall be collected for this, which is to be paid for in cash by the participant upon accreditation. (3) Every participant is obliged to check his/her starting documents, received at accreditation, directly after receiving them, to ensure that they are complete. Later claims cannot be considered. 6 WITHDRAWAL BY PARTICIPANT (1) A free-of-charge withdrawal will be possible up to two weeks after registration. A later cancellation is not possible. The entry fee will not be refunded, should the withdrawal be conducted at a later time. (2) However, at registration the participant can make use of the possibility of a cancellation insurance policy. This can be obtained for an insurance premium of 9.00. In addition, there is a service charge of 2.90. All additionally booked services are excluded from the cancellation insurance. In the event of an insurance claim it is exclusively the participation fee which is reimbursed by the insurer. The cancellation insurance is not a service provided by Upsolut Event GmbH. The cancellation insurance policy is subject to the General Terms & Conditions of Insurance of the insurance company providing the policy. (3) In addition, a participant who has already received his/her official entry confirmation can personally appoint a substitute, who will be acquiring all of the booked services, in written form by 21 June 2013 or personally between 18 July and 19 July (all starter 20.07.13) or 18 July and 20 July 2013 (all starter 21.07.13) upon accreditation in the city centre. An administrative fee of 20.00 will be charged for the processing of the substitution. A race slot that has already been transferred cannot be retransferred onto a new participant. 7 CANCELLATION OF EVENT / NO-SHOW If the event is cancelled because of circumstances of force majeure, the participant will not be entitled to any refunding of the entry fee and compensation of other losses, such as travelling or accommodation expenses. All claims will be forfeited for no-shows. 8 LIABILITY (1) Participation will be at the participant s own risk. (2) The organizer s liability also towards third parties will be limited to wilful and negligent acts only. This shall also apply to firms and helpers commissioned by the organizer. Any liability of organizer with respect to other damage than those from injuries to life and body or health of participant shall be excluded unless such injuries can be attributed to wilful or coarsely negligent acts by the organizer or his legal representatives or agents. (3) No liability will be accepted by organizer for loss of equipment in transition zone, or other lost items of participant unless this can be attributed to wilful or coarsely negligent acts by the organizer or his legal representatives or agents. A relevant insurance should be taken out for such cases. (4) By receiving the race number every participant will state in a binding manner that there are no health concerns as regards his/her participation in this race. 9 COLLECTION AND USE OF DATA (1) The personal data indicated upon registration will be stored and used for the event only. (2) Participant agrees that the data indicated in the registration form can be collected and passed on for time keeping, placing and results, and any photos, films and interviews in connection with the event may be published with no claim for compensation. (3) Participant also agrees his personal data to be disclosed for the purpose of sending him/her e-mails from the official photo partner with a link to the participant s photos taken on the race course and at the finish, produced by the firm commissioned by organizer. The photo partner deletes all data after sending the e-mails. There shall be no obligation for the participant to buy such photos. 10 COMPETITION RULES The sports rules, Federal League rules, anti-doping rules and referee rules competition of Deutsche Triathlon Union shall be applicable and the legal regulations and procedures as well as disciplinary codes.
