Bendigo & District Flyfishers Inc. Minutes of Committee Meeting Thursday 7 th June 2018 At Brennan Park Clubrooms In the absence of the President the Vice President opened the meeting at 7:35pm. Present: J. Willey, A. Chisholm, G. Hellsten, A. Jacobs, T. Charles and R. Booth. Apologies: D. Keegan and R. Garlick. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed a true and accurate record with changes. Moved: R. Booth 2 nd : T. Charles Carried. Treasurer s Report: The financial report is only presented every three months. Correspondence: 1. Bank statement; 2. E-mail: Barkers Creek Res Survey Draft report, Greg Hellsten; 3. E-mail: Jordan Scotty incubator trials; and 4. E-mail: Club response to Barkers Creek Res draft report, Greg Hellsten. General Business: 1. The VP thanked Greg Hellsten for producing a great summary of the Club s response to the Barkers Creek Res draft report. 2. The prices for the Rise Film Festival on the 13 th September at the Theatre Royal venue in Castlemaine is, $20 for adults and $15 for children up to 18 years. (changed since meeting and in negotiations with Nick Reygart). Seating to be set aside for people with problems climbing stairs. Jeff Willey to contact KLFM and Roger Booth to contact Bendigo Weekly. 3. The issue of the Castlemaine hatchery was discussed. The major issues being the costs and ongoing maintenance. 4. The VP congratulated Jeff Willey and winning the Club Championship for a fourth time with a brown trout of 1150gm caught at Lake Wendouree during the Goldfields Shield. Jeff stated that he thought Al Chisholm s 1050gm brown from Barkers Creek Res was a more notable fish. 5. A trip to Tranquil Rises at Flowerdale is being proposed for the 28/29 th July. Cost is $30 per angler per day. If anyone wishes to stay overnight, accommodation is available for an extra $40 per night. 6. The issue of tree removal from Lake Eppalock is ongoing. 7. The club is missing a gas 9kg gas bottle. If anyone has it, please return it to the clubrooms. 8. Both Roger Booth and Tom Charles stated that we should look at having more guest speakers. Roger stated that Mick Hall is keen to visit the club again and he will suggest Saturday the 21 st or Sunday the 22 nd July. There being no further business the President closed the meeting at 8:40pm. Jeff Willey Sec Update: The trip to Tranquil Rises is booked for Sunday the 29 th July. Club Shop BDFFC has purchased a number of fishing shirts embroidered with the Club emblem. The shirts are light weight, drip dry and with enough pockets to suit most fly fishers. We can cover most sizes at present, but be quick if you take a medium fitting. BDFFC covered the cost of the embroidery, with the shirts costing $50.00 Sell price $50.00 We also have embroided club caps, one size fits all Sell price $17.00 If you would like to place the club emblem on to your existing clothing, we have embroided patch badges available Sell price $7.00 The above items are available at the club rooms on any Thursday evening or Saturday afternoons during fly casting sessions.... Club Equipment for member use. BDFFC has gathered a number of items which can make your fishing trip a more enjoyable and safer experience.

The items listed below must be signed out by a committee member and returned in the condition they left EPERB: Ideal if you re heading to an out of the way location, accidents can happen, having the EPERD on hand can make an enormous difference in locating the user and eventual recovery, once activated the satellite can pinpoint you to within 10 mtrs. On signing out the EPERB you must leave partner or family contact details and numbers. UHF Radios: WE have five UHF CB radios, all with good range and excellent all day battery power. Another excellent safety item. Video camera: Great for those action hero shots, can be used hand held or attached to the body. Canopy: Generally used for club events. However, if a group of members need it for an event, it s there to be used. Ice coolers: We have two 55 Lt ice coolers, ideal size for large outings. Tom Charles... A lady in Bendigo has a one piece 6 weight 9 3 Hardy cane rod for sale. It is called The Ideal and is in excellent condition. Price $400 Anyone interested can contact me as shown below. Fishing Trip Sunday 29 th July We have arranged for the July club outing to be held at Tranquil Rises Fish Farm, situated in Flowerdale. The cost is $30.00 for a day s fishing with the club supplying a BBQ lunch. For those members needing an extended fishing experience, the fish farm has a couple of cabins which will cost you an extra $40.00 pp over the cost of a day s fishing. We need a minimum of 4 people to book the small cabin. As the fish farm needs to be booked, we urgently need those interested to contact myself 0431981190 or Jeff Willey 0407683585. The club outing day is Sunday 29th July Previous fish farm visits have been a great success with lots of fish landed and a pleasant fun day had by all. Family and friends are very welcome.
