THE STORYLINE The LMU women's basketball will face its final non-conference road test of the year as it heads to Cal State Fullerton for a 4 p.m. bout at Titan Gym on Sunday. LAST TIME OUT LMU pulled away down the stretch as it outlasted UC Santa Barbara, 57-55, Friday night at Gersten Pavilion. After eight lead changes in the fourth quarter, LMU closed out the game from the free throw line for its fourth win in five games. Cheyanne Wallace notched three free throws downs the stretch, while UC Santa Barbara's last-second 3-point attempt went wide as the Lions held on for the win. DOUBLE TROUBLE Jackie Johnson is the only player in the WCC who is currently averaging a double-double per game with 14.8 points and 10.6 rebounds per contest. CARRYING THE LOAD Jackie Johnson leads the WCC in rebounds per game (10.6) and ranks second in blocked shots (2.5) and in steals (2.6) per game. DYNAMIC DUO Cheyanne Wallace and Jackie Johnson currently rank fourth and fifth in the WCC with 15.0 and 14.8 points per game. LMU is the only team in the conference to have two student-athletes rank within the top five among scoring leaders. LOCKDOWN LMU currently leads the WCC in field goal percentage defense (.367) and ranks second in 3-point field goal percentage defense (.282). THE EDGE LMU's back-to-back wins over Seattle (62-59) and UCSB (57-55) marked the first time since the 2011-12 season when the Lions earned two straight wins decided by one-possession. Previously, the Lions came away on top with two straight 57-54 decisions over Youngstown State Nov. 25 and New Mexico Dec. 1. LOCKING THE LID The Lions surrendered just three points against UC Irvine in the first quarter in a 58-39 win in its opening game of the LMU Thanksgiving Classic on Friday, setting a new program record for fewest points allowed in a quarter, besting its mark of allowing just eight points a season ago against the Anteaters on Nov. 28, 2015. LIGHT IT UP Cheyanne Wallace's 20 points against San Diego State on Nov. 20 marked her sixth 20-plus point game of her career. Wallace also notched a career-high 26 points against Saint Louis on Nov. 13. FROM DOWNTOWN Leslie Lopez-Wood broke the all-time 3-point career record a season ago and holds 222 to her name. The senior has lead the Lions in triples in each of her three seasons, and also set the single season mark with 82 makes from beyond-the-arc a season ago. SCOUTING CAL STATE FULLERTON After starting the season with four straight defeats, the Titans have taken their past two matchups to stand at 2-4 on the year. Iman Latham, a transfer from Nevada, and Jordan Jackson, a transfer from Central Florida, are the lone Titans averaging double figures with 16.8 and 10.5 points per game, respectively. Head coach Daron Park is in his fourth season at the helm and has amassed a 30-68 mark, including a 14-34 record in Big West games. THE SERIES LMU trails 6-12 in the all-time series, though it has gotten the upper hand recently as five of its wins have come in the previous eight matchups. The Titans are rebuilding after seven players, including four starters, departed the program following the conclusion of the 2015-16 season. DISHING IT OUT Andee Velasco set the LMU freshman record with 125 assists a season ago, which also ranks No. 6 all-time in a single season. ON THE BOARDS Bree Alford hauled down a LMU sophomore record 252 rebounds last year, good for second on the team and sixth in the WCC, while also ranking No. 8 all-time in a single season. UP NEXT The Lions will return home for a 2 p.m. contest on Saturday, Dec. 10 against Long Beach State on "Beat Hunger, Beat LBS" day. During her tenure, Elliott led UCSD to three regular-season conference championships, four NCAA Tournament appearances and one Sweet 16 appearance. She also earned three CCAA Coach of the Year honors. Elliott spent three seasons as the head coach at Portland State where she led the Vikings to a remarkable turnaround during her tenure. After PSU finished with an overall record of 3-23 during her first year in 2004-05, she led the Vikings to a 12-16 overall mark and 6-8 in the Big Sky Conference during her second season. The nine-win improvement ranked amongst the nation s top 20 and Portland State qualified for the Big Sky Tournament for the first time in three years. Before taking the Portland State job, Elliott served as an assistant coach at Arkansas for one season and was the head coach at Cal Baptist for two seasons. She has also served in an assistant capacity with Southwest Baptist, Southwest Missouri State and San Diego State. Elliott began her collegiate basketball career at Rice University, where she played for two seasons, averaging 16 ppg as a sophomore before transferring to Southwest Missouri State (now Missouri State). While at SMS, Elliott guided the Bears to a 31-3 record and the program s first-ever Final Four appearance as a senior in 1992. An integral part of one of the most successful teams in program history, she ranked in the top 10 nationally in free throw percentage and was named SMS Female Student-Athlete of the Year as well as Woman of the Year at the end of the 1991-92 season. The Bears posted a 57-8 record during her two-year career with the program.
