Drain North-South: place the rubber underneath the full lenght of the profiles and allow to stick out at least 5cm at the ends of the profile, where profile is parallel to pitch. Drain East-West: Place the rubber protection partially underneath the profiles. Ensure that the rubber protection is thick enough. Ensure rubber is placed under the point of support of the mounting brackets. 2.2 Installation with mounting brackets directly placed on the roof: Put the rubber protection under the mounting bracket over the full lenght of the bracket and allow it stick out 5 cm on both sides. 2.3 Installation on a PVC roof : Place first geo-tex and then the rubber protection.
3 Installation of the N-S ground profiles (if applied) Place the ground profiles on the rubber protection. Align the profiles according to plan. The ground profiles are attached by connectors ( profile 35 x27 L200). The groundprofiles and connectors are attached by means of at least 8 selftapping screws (Ø6.3) To avoid (if necessary) thermal expansion you can leave out the screws A and B and leave a margin of 40-60mm. (depending A B 4 Mounting brackets 4.1 Assembly of AvaSolar Roof Put the 2 cage nuts M8 in the opening (depending on the type of clamping).
4.2 Mounting of AvaSolar - Roof on the ground profiles. Position AvaSolar -Roof on the groundprofile and fix it by means of selftapping screws SS (Ø6.3mm, Ø4.8mm is also possible, but you need to use at least 8st/ bracket) or SS rivets. Always attach at the ends of the mounting bracket. Connect the rows by means of L-profiles (see 6.1 and 6.2) 5 Clamping of the modules 5.1 Clamping on the long side 5.2 Clamping on the short side 5.3 Clamping with profiles Remarks: Use only SS fixation parts Use only selftapping screws or rivets (Ø6 mm) Clamp with the correct torque Use exclusively cage nuts provided by Avasco The clamping instructions for the modules should be provided by the module manufacturer. Drawings are for illustration purpose only.
Important: The distance between the back of the clamp and brackets can be 1 or 2mm at the utmost. 6 Provide the ballast 6.1 By means of L-profiles in the ground profile Install an aluminium L-profile of at least 30 x 30 x 3 mm in the openings of the AvaSolar -Roof system. These L-profiles are meant to carry the ballast. The dimensions of the L-profiles must be calculated in respect of the added ballast. Install the second L-profile in the opening and choose the correct space, based on the dimensions of the ballast. Secure the L-profiles by means of self-tapping screws SS (at least Ø4.8mm) or SS rivets. Put the ballast as best as you can close to the bracket..
6.2 By means of omega ballast plates This option is only possible, if you install this with ground profiles. Put the omega ballast plate on the ground profiles. Connect the omega ballast plate to the ground profile with 2 self-tapping screws. Always ensure enough rubber protection under the omega ballast plates, and sufficient overlay. 6.3 By means of a combination of brackets and omega ballast plates Remark: 1. The way highlighted to apply ballast is for illustration prupose only.the installer needs to provide sufficient ballast specification for each individual installation, ensuring correct calculations and parameters. If in doubt, the installer should contact a specialised design agency. 2. We recommend to at use at least ballast on the last row (North side) and the first and last column (East-West side), even if studies state that there may be no need to use any ballast here. 3. All modules that have a backplate, will reduce the necessary ballast.
7 Installation of AvaSolar -Cover and AvaSolar -Backplate 7.1 Installation AvaSolar -Cover Put the AvaSolar -Cover to the side of the AvaSolar -Roof and connect it by means of a selftapping screw SS (at least Ø4.8mm) of SS rivets. 7.2 Installation AvaSolar -Backplate Put the AvaSolar -Backplate on top of/ against AvaSolar - Roof. Also these pieces are attached to the AvaSolar -Roof selftapping screws (Ø6.3mm) or SS rivets (at least 4 per backplate). The AvaSolar - Backplates are essential to reduce the necessary ballast. You must install at least backplates on the last row (Northside) and on the first and last rows (East and Westside) For smaller installations (less than 50 panels) and/ or on a building with a height of more than 12m and/or in areas with a lot of wind and/or with great angels (more than 20 ) you should place backplates everywhere. In case you do not install backplates everywhere, you will use more ballast.
8 Manual instructions AvaSolar on steeldeck 8.1 Parts The C-ground profiles are replaced by these ground profiles: type Extr 07 SD or type Extr.08 SD Fixation of the SD-ground profiles is made by SD hooks. 8.2 Steeldeck mounting Type 07 SD (bracket in the same direction as the corrugated plate) Use type Extr. 07SD ground profiles and hooks Type depends on the direction of the steeldeck. It is imperative to use AvaSolar -SD mounting brackets. Put the AvaSolar -SD mounting brackets perpendicular to the Extr 07 SD ground profiles Attention: Ensure overlay of the mounting bracket to the SD ground profiles and use therefore the gaps in the SD mounting bracket.
Type 08 SD (bracket perpendicular on to the corrugated plates) Use Type Extr. 08SD ground profiles and hooks. Put the profile Extr. 08 SD perpendicular to the waves. Brackets are attached to the ground profile. You can use the standard AvaSolar -Roof for this type of profile. 8.3 Installation of Extr.07 SD and Extr.08 SD on steeldeck The ground profiles are always attached with SD hooks. Type 07 SD
Type 08 SD Put the hook in the opening of the steel deck profile, divide the connectors over the steeldeck. Attention: the waterproof layer should be against the steeldeck wall. The connector is mounted to the steeldeck wall with selftapping waterproof screws. The number of hooks you need is dependent on the strength of the steeldeck and the structures beneath the steeldeck. If in doubt, the installer should contract a specialised design agency.
8.4 Installation AvaSolar -SD to the SD-groundprofiles Type SD07 The Avasolar SD07 mounting bracket is installed prependicular to the SD07 ground profiles. Ensure the bracket overlays at the end of each profile and use second hole from edge (large hole) to attach. Attach the brackets to the ground profiles by putting the selftapping screws in the forseen gaps. Type SD08 Installation of this ground profile is identical to the installation of AvaSolar-Roof (See 4.2). 8.5 Installation of AvaSolar-Cover and AvaSolar Backplate The same instructions are applied as AvaSolar-Roof ( see chapter7) 8.6 Remarks The steeldeck roof needs to be strong enough to be able to carry the installation as to bear with the tensing/puling force of the wind.
9 General Remarks You need to ensure sufficient protection under the AvaSolar -Roof ground profiles when you need to connect on a soft or half-soft underground/foundation. Special instructions for these installations: Less than 5 km (shortest distance) from the coast: fastening materials must be SS. The material must be chosen according to the environment (i.e.near the coast, areas with high chemical content, etc.) In sea-salt environments (ie, near the coast, use anodised aluminium or SS.) We offer these specific product on demand. Special attention to roofs with a pitch in East-West direction ( ie. N-S profiles keep the same height) and to roofs that easily move up and down (e.g. As a result of vibrations from wind load ar other causes): Without extra connections in the East-West direction the installation can tend to move downwards irregularly. These East-West connections can be attached to the North South profiles and/ or to the upper side of the bracket. This depends of the situation. In case you deal with roofs which have a negative and positive pitch we recommend to connect the roof-ridge / top. If in doubt, you should contact a specialised engineering company. Clamps: Use the clamps that the module manufacturers allow and prescribe. The difference between the height of the clamps and the thickness of the panels is maximum 1mm. In a windy or sea-salt environment (ie, near the coast): Same remark as the mounting articles.
Portrait Installations A lot of ballast will be needed. Extra clamps will be needed. Backplates and covers to be used on all panels. Do not use the portrait arragement on steeldeck roofs. Roofs in extreme circumstances Extreme situations Roofs with a height of at least 15m. Windy areas. Places where nearby buildings/landscape/obstacles causes a wind-tunnel effect. Others,... All panels must have backplates that must be attached with a sufficient amount of SS selftapping screws of Ø 6.3mm. Ensure at least 8 self-tapping screws of Ø 6.3mm to install the bracket Maximum angle of the bracket is 15. Ensure sufficient ballast for each panel. Use always East-West connections. Replace cage nuts by SS bolts M8 and the matching specialist flange and lock nuts. If in doubt, you should contact a specialised design agency. Avasco cannot be held responsible when you use mounting articles that are not supplied by Avasco Industries.
