THANK YOU FOR REGISTERING TO TAKE PART IN THE 2017 MASERATI TOUR DE YORKSHIRE RIDE The Maserati Tour de Yorkshire Ride is a unique opportunity for sportive riders in the UK to ride along the same roads, on the same day as the pro riders taking part in stage three of the Tour de Yorkshire. With many climbs providing gradients above 15 per cent this year British ex-pro cyclist and Maserati cycling Ambassador David Millar gives his top climbing tips to help you tackle the challenge ahead: Research your climbs before you start riding, as pacing yourself is crucial - this way you ll know where you can preserve energy, and where you need to prepare for pushing through the final section. In steeper climbs, take it easy by staying in your seat and changing to a lower gear. This is the most aerobically efficient way to the top getting out of the saddle is more powerful, but will use more energy. On behalf of Maserati, we hope you enjoy the ride. WELCOME PAGE 1

You are requested to ride in single file where appropriate and no more than 2 abreast at any time. Single file riding is mandatory when double white line systems are in operation on the roads of the route. Please be aware of your fellow cyclists and other traffic users, giving way where required, and obey all road regulations, highway signage, and any specific event signage which has been erected. Please always indicate and signal your intention to stop, change direction, or maneuver at a junction. Please do not pass through any red traffic lights but wait as directed. Similarly give way at Zebra crossings to any pedestrians using them. We reserve the right to terminate your participation if you fail to comply with any of the above or are seen to be riding dangerously. Event Stewards, Motorcycle Marshals and staff are located out on route and will be clearly visible, they are there primarily for your safety. Please listen and obey their instructions at all times. Please at all times observe all Highways signage relating to descents, bends, general road regulations, cattle grids and other hazards. HUMAN RACE CYCLING CODE PAGE 10

CUT OFF TIMES From start to finish participants will be expected to achieve a minimum average speed (including feeding breaks) to complete this course. This is: Long 100km 15kph Medium 75km 13kph Short 50km 10kph Average minimum speeds are in place to ensure riders finish the event in the given allocated time due to the need for the roads to be cleared in advance of the Pro Race coming through. Failure to maintain these speeds will result in your route either being shortened at a designated cut off point or terminated early at the discretion of the event organisers (at such time you will be required to drop out from the event or board the sweep bus). Failure to reach the last cut off time (15:25) will result in you missing the Pro Finish Line Experience, and you will be diverted back into Fox Valley via an alternative route. CUT OFF 1 Deepcar 70km (Long), 21.5km (Short). All Long and Short route riders need to be clear of this point by 12:50. Failure to do so will result in the reduction of 25km from your ride distance CUT OFF 2 Bank Side/Green Lane 78km (Long), 28km (Short). All Long route and Short Route riders need to be clear of this point by 13:10. Failure to do so will result in the reduction of 16km from your ride distance and the removal of 2 hill climbs, Cote de Onesmoor Bottom and Cote de Bradfield. CUT OFF TIMES PAGE 11

CUT OFF TIMES CUT OFF 3 Fox Valley Way 99km (Long), 73km (Medium), 50km (Short). All Routes riders need to be clear of this point by 15:25. Failure to do so will result in you missing the Pro Finish Line Experience, being diverted back into the event village and finish via an alternative route. Human Race, organisers of the Maserati Tour de Yorkshire RIDE Sportive, reserve the right to terminate participation on health and safety grounds. This includes the sweeping of participants who fail to maintain the required average speed to complete the course, the re-direction or closure of sections of the route due to events outside our control, or cancellation of the event owing to severe weather or other reasons. Mobile phone reception can be poor on some sections of the route. If you are unable to get a signal for assistance please ask a fellow rider to relay your message when further along the route or wait for a Motorcycle Marshal or Route Vehicle to assist you. CUT OFF TIMES PAGE 12

IMPORTANT INFORMATION In the event of an emergency or problem during the event please contact Event Control based at the venue on the number below. EMERGENCY NUMBER: 07541 575 783 SWEEP VEHICLES: We will be operating a sweep vehicle which can pick up riders (+ their bike) that cannot complete the event. Please note however that this vehicle will stay at the back throughout the event behind the last rider and so if you require it you will have to wait for it to reach you which may take some time. We would ask you to please be patient with this service as, depending on your position on the course, it may take a while to collect you and get you back to the Finish venue. If you do not wish to wait, you might in some instances be better to make alternative arrangements to get back using friends/family/call a taxi. MEDICAL: There will be a medical presence at the start/finish, at the Feed Station, and mobile along the route. MECHANICS: We will have bike mechanics in the event village and out on course. These are kindly provided by FULL GAS BIKES. IMPORTANT INFORMATION PAGE 13
