She has earned all-metro and all-state honors every on of her seasons there. New Panther Faces Preparing for the 2012 season, head coach Tami udia and her staff are pleased to announce the signing of four incoming freshman liza Zachary of loomington, Minnesota, Devan Miller of rlington, Texas, Sydney Hunsley of a ista, Nebraska, and Dede ohannon of awrenceville, Georgia. liza Zachary Zachary is a 6 2 middle who played for Northern ights Juniors olleyball Club. She has been ranked one of the top players in Minnesota, helping lead her team to the Colorado Crossroads title and first place at U Nationals in their age group. She also earned MaxPreps volleyball award for her top-150 national hitting percentage. Sydney Hunsley Devan Miller Miller is a 5 7 libero who joins the Panther squad from Pantego Christian cademy. There, she earned all-district first team and all-state honorable mention this season, guiding her team through the area finals and onto to the Dallas Christian Tournament title. She also earned all-district honors as a junior and sophomore. Dede ohannon ohannon is a 5 10 outside hitter who comes to Georgia State from nearby Greater tlanta Christian. She was named Gwinnett County Player of the ear as a senior and helped lead her team to a 41-5 record, one of the most successful seasons in school history. She is also the libero for our GSU volleyball team. s a sophomore this past season, she compiled a career-high 441 digs, finishing with 4.11 digs per set in conference and ranked 5th in the C. The quote that inspires her the most is Just Do It because it is simple yet aggressive. The television show she never misses is Pretty ittle iars and her favorite smell is a home cooked meal. Scottish Rite Children s Hospital While other students prepared for their winter break, the volleyball players at GSU took some time out of their schedules to visit with the kids at Scottish Rite Children s Hospital (picture to the left). The girls were able enjoy some peaceful coloring time, entertain the kids on Wii, and show off their air hockey skills. The highlight of the trip came when mily verbeck was challenged to Mario Kart by one of the little boys and lost. The team had a great time, and most importantly, so did the children!
