2. Intended use This product is a wristwatch with alarm, timer and stopwatch function. Many special features have been integrated for skiers and hikers, e.g. an altimeter, a barometer, a thermometer, a digital compass and a weather forecast display for the next 12 to 24 hours (calculated based on changes in atmospheric pressure). Performance data for downhill skiers can be stored. The product is not to be used as a replacement for professional measurement technology. The measured values or the displays of the product are not suitable for commercial purposes or for public announcements. The manufacturer does not take responsibility for incorrect displays or measured values and the resulting consequences. Any use other than that described above may damage the product. There are also additional risks. The wristwatch is waterproof for outdoor use. It is not intended to be used in the shower, when bathing, swimming or diving. No part of this product may be modified or rebuilt. Read the user manual carefully and fully before using the product for the first time, pay attention to all the safety instructions and information in this user manual. 3. Explanation of symbols The An exclamation mark in a triangle indicates important information in these operating instructions that has to be strictly observed. hand symbol indicates special tips and operating information. 5. Safety instructions The guarantee/warranty will be void if damage is incurred resulting from non-compliance with these operating instructions. We assume no liability for any consequential damage! Nor do we assume liability for damage to property or personal injury caused by improper use or failure to observe the safety instructions. In such cases the warranty is voided! The unauthorized conversion and/or modification of the product is inadmissible for safety and approval reasons (CE). Do not open or disassemble the product (except when replacing the battery). The product is not a toy and should be kept out of the reach of children. The product contains small parts, glass (display) and a battery. The wristwatch is waterproof for outdoor use. It is not intended to be used in the shower, when bathing, swimming or diving. Do not leave the packaging material lying around carelessly, as it can become a dangerous toy for children. Handle the product with care. It can be damaged through impact, blows or when dropped even from a low height. 7

6. Battery information Batteries should be kept out of children s reach. Do not leave batteries lying around openly. There is a risk of them being swallowed by children or pets. If swallowed, consult a doctor immediately. There is danger to life! Leaking or damaged batteries may cause caustic burns if they come into contact with skin. Therefore, you should use suitable protective gloves. Make sure that the batteries are not short-circuited, dismantled or thrown into fire. There is danger of explosion! Replace an empty battery as soon as possible, or remove it from the wristwatch. An empty battery may leak and damage the watch! See chapter 14. For the environmentally friendly disposal of batteries and rechargeable batteries, read chapter 16. 8

Hold down (3 seconds): Automatic backlight is enabled/disabled Function selection in clock mode (time, dual time, alarm time, stopwatch, countdown timer) and in sensor mode (ski function, altimeter, barometer, thermometer, compass) In the setting modes: Set functions Function selection within a mode (e.g. if barometer mode is selected, you can switch between history display, temperature, and atmospheric pressure at sea level) In stopwatch mode: START/STOP stopwatch In the setting modes: Change values (increase value) In stopwatch mode: Take lap time or reset stopwatch History function: Select hours In the setting modes: Change values (decrease value) 9

b) Enable/disable button lock Hold down the MODE button. Hold down the START/STOP button simultaneously. KEY is displayed in the first line and ON or OFF flashes on the display. Wait until ON / OFF stops flashing and a short sound signal is given. Now release both buttons. The button lock is now enabled/disabled. When the button lock is enabled a little key symbol is displayed, as shown above. Now the wristwatch does not respond to commands until the button lock is disabled again as described above. c) Enable/disable automatic backlight Hold down the LIGHT button for about 3 seconds to enable/disable automatic backlight. When the function is enabled (a little lamp symbol is displayed), the backlight is turned on for 3 seconds whenever a button is pressed. It consumes a good amount of power which significantly reduces battery lifetime. We recommend the use of this function only when necessary. 10

Clock mode a) Switch between displays temperature day of the week weather forecast current time date Time/Date Temperature sea level pressure tendency altitude tendency Press the SENSOR button to switch between clock mode and sensor mode. Press the START/STOP button, to switch between displays in clock mode: - time/date (including day of the week) - temperature ( C or F) - atmospheric pressure (history display, in relation to sea level) - altimeter (history display) Air temperature cannot be measured properly if the wristwatch is worn around the wrist. Take it off for at least 20 to 30 minutes to allow it to adjust to the ambient temperature. If you hold down the START/STOP button, the watch switches through the displays automatically (until you release the button). Atmospheric pressure (history display, in relation to sea level) Clock mode Altimeter (history display) 12

b) Weather forecast sunny lightly cloudy precipitation cloudy Weather forecast symbols Based on changes in atmospheric pressure measured by the integrated barometric sensor, the weather forecast can be calculated for the next 12 to 24 hours. Please note: The wristwatch must be at one altitude for at least 8 hours before it can make a calculation (e.g. overnight). If you use the wristwatch when hiking or skiing, the atmospheric pressure changes due to changing altitudes, which makes the weather forecast impossible. The display does not represent the current weather conditions. It is a forecast of the next 12 to 24 hours. The calculation of the weather forecast only based on atmospheric pressure renders results with a maximum accuracy of 70%. The weather on the next day might therefore turn out to be completely different. For this reason, do not rely on the weather forecast of your wristwatch, but inform yourself locally, e.g. when you would like to hike in the mountains. In case of sudden or big changes in atmospheric pressure, the display symbols are updated to indicate the weather change. If the display symbols do not change, either the atmospheric pressure has not changed or the change took place to slowly that it could not have been registered by the wristwatch. 13

Then hold down the MODE button (for about 2 seconds) until the seconds start flashing. SET flashes at the top of the display. Use the START/STOP button or the LAP/RESET button to set the seconds. Press the MODE button to get to the next setting (see illustration). The day/month or month/day setting allows you to set the display format of the date. month date [MODE] [MODE] If you select 12h display, a P will be displayed on the left side of the time display in the second half of the day. Button sound allows you to enable a sound that is played whenever a button is pressed. If you hold down the START/STOP button or the LAP/RESET button, quick settings are activated. Quit the setting mode by holding down the MODE button for more than 2 seconds (or not pressing any button for 1 minute). d) Alarm function/hour signal Alarm time 1 (AL1) In clock mode, press the MODE button until the alarm function is displayed. The wristwatch has two individual alarm times (AL1 and AL2 on the display) and an optional hour signal (CHIME on the display). Press the START/STOP button to switch between alarm times AL1 and AL2, and the hour signal. Press the LAP/RESET button to set the alarm time or to enable/disable the hour signal. Alarm off: OFF is displayed Alarm on: ON is displayed Hour signal off: OFF is displayed Hour signal on: ON is displayed Alarm time 2 (AL2) Hour signal (CHIME) Alarm function/hour signal If an alarm time has been set, a sound is played at the alarm time. Press any button to abort the sound. If the hour signal is enabled, a sound is played on the hour. 15

Press the START/STOP button to display alarm time AL1 or alarm time AL2. Alarm time display Hold down the MODE button (for about 2 seconds) until the minutes of the alarm time start flashing. Press the MODE button until the stopwatch is displayed. If the stopwatch is used for the first time (or has been reset), all values are 00. You can start and stop the stopwatch by pressing the START/ STOP button. To reset the stopwatch to 00, hold down the LAP/RESET button (for about 2 seconds) until all values read 00. While it is running, press the LAP/RESET button the take the lap time. The corresponding lap number is shown at the top of the display. A lap time taken is displayed for 10 seconds. Then the running time is displayed again (while the lap time is displayed, the stopwatch counts on in the background). Stop the stopwatch by pressing the START/STOP button. To see the lap times, hold down the MODE button for about 2 seconds until TTL appears at the top of the display. Use the START/STOP (or LAP/RESET ) button to display the lap times stored. To quit this display mode, hold down the MODE button for about 2 seconds. Reset the stopwatch to 00 by holding down the LAP/ RESET button for about two seconds. In addition, in the last 10 minutes a sound is played every minute to inform you that time is almost up. In the last minute, a sound is played every 10 seconds. In the last 5 seconds, a sound is played every second. The countdown timer has 5 preset timer intervals (3, 5, 10, 14, and 45 minutes) to allow you to quickly activate it. These 5 intervals cannot be modified. Of course, you can set an individual timer interval (99 hours, 59 minutes, 59 seconds max., see illustration to the left, manual settings). Proceed as explained on the next page. If you programme an individual timer interval, it remains stored until it is changed again. So you can easily store the timer interval you require (e.g. 25 minutes, 30 seconds) and activate it without having to re-programme the timer. Setting order for timer intervals 19

See previous page. Hold down the MODE button for about 2 seconds until the hours of the timer interval as well as SET at the top of the display start flashing. Press the MODE button shortly to switch between hours, minutes, and seconds. Use the START/STOP button or the LAP/RESET button to adjust the flashing value. If you hold down the START/STOP button or the LAP/ RESET button, quick settings are activated. Quit the setting mode by holding down the MODE button for more than 2 seconds (or not pressing any button for 1 minute). [LAP/RESET] increase/decrease value > 1s [LAP/RESET] > 1s increase/decrease value (quick settings) Setting the timer interval manually 20

j) Countdown timer: start, stop, reset Countdown timer (example: 10 minutes) [LAP/RESET] Countdown timer is running counting down time timer stopped First, select a timer interval or programme an individual time as described on the two previous pages. Press the START/STOP button to start or stop the countdown timer. When the timer has been stopped, press the LAP/ RESET button to reset it to the original timer interval. In the last 10 minutes a sound is played every minute to inform you that time is almost up. In the last minute, a sound is played every 10 seconds. In the last 5 seconds, a sound is played every second. When the timer reaches 00:00:00 a sound is played for 30 seconds. Press any button to abort the sound. Then the timer interval is automatically reset to the last interval. Countdown timer stopped counting down Countdown timer is running 21

k) Second time zone S E T the chosen section is flashing You can set a second time zone in the wristwatch (Only hours and minutes can be set. Seconds correspond with seconds of first time zone.). SET flashes at the top of the display. Press the MODE button shortly to switch between hours and minutes. Use the START/STOP button or the LAP/RESET button to adjust the flashing value. If you hold down the START/STOP button or the LAP/ RESET button, quick settings are activated. Quit the setting mode by holding down the MODE button for more than 2 seconds (or not pressing any button for 1 minute). Setting dual time (second time zone) 22

In one record ( Ski Record ) all descents ( Ski Lap ) are stored until ski mode is switched off again (e). Automatic recording Recording of a descent ( Ski Lap ) begins when the wristwatch notices a significant change in altitude. Recording ends when there is no change in altitude any more. The descent ( Ski Lap ) is stored. Manual recording You can also manually set the exact beginning and end of a descent: symbol is flashing m /h After switching on ski mode, press the MODE button once shortly. The display shows MANUAL. Press the START/STOP button at the beginning of every descent. The descent timer starts. Press the START/STOP button at the end of every descent as well. The timer stops and the descent ( Ski Lap ) is stored. Ski mode on 29

g) Slope inclination angle, setting the sensitivity 18 inclination angle 18 Setting the inclination angle Slope inclination Most ski runs specify the average inclination angle for skiers. Enter this angle in your wristwatch. Setting the sensitivity To detect changes in altitude (measured by barometer) from the beginning to the end of an automatic recording, the sensitivity can be set for ascents (e.g. lift) and descents separately. Depending on the ski run automatic recording might interpret even short segments as the end of the descent. Then same might happen if you stop to wait for a fellow skier. Test the different settings. Press the MODE button to get to the next settings. - When rate AS appears in the middle of the display, you can adjust the sensitivity during an ascent (e.g. lift) by pressing the START/ STOP button or the LAP/RESET button ( NORM = normal, FAST = fast, SLOW = slow). - When rate ds appears in the middle of the display, you can adjust the sensitivity during a descent by pressing the START/STOP button or the LAP/RESET button ( NORM = normal, FAST = fast, SLOW = slow). Quit the setting mode by holding down the MODE button for more than 2 seconds (or not pressing any button for 1 minute). 31

Please note: In ski mode ( symbol is flashing), the current record cannot be deleted, as it is still being recorded. To delete it, quit ski mode first ( symbol is not flashing). 35

This is the difference in altitude between the current altitude and the altitude you defined as 0 for the altimeter. Example in illustration: The altimeter was set to 0 on the lower mountain to measure the difference in altitude. For precise results, you might have to re-calibrate the altimeter. In ski mode, you cannot calibrate or make adjustments. Every calibration or adjustment is independent. If you set a known altitude, the settings for atmospheric pressure at sea level are ignored. Factory setting ( F.DEF ) Set atmospheric pressure at sea level ( SEAP. ) ZERO = zero position: Select ZERO if you want your wristwatch to display the altitude from a defined place (e.g. lower ski lift station). The current altitude of the wristwatch is set to 0. The letter r is displayed on the right of the altitude to indicate that the altitude shown represents a difference in altitude. ALTI = Enter known altitude: If you know the altitude of a place (e.g. a sign indicates the altitude), you can enter that altitude as reference value. SEAP. = Enter atmospheric pressure at sea level: This setting allows you to enter the atmospheric pressure at sea level. Normally, no adjustment is necessary. If needed, you can adjust the settings of the current atmospheric pressure manually. In ski mode, you cannot calibrate or make adjustments. Sensor mode: Compass a) General operating notes direction of compass direction of movement magnetic north pole degrees of direction of movement current time The position of Earth s magnetic north pole is not identical to the geographic North Pole. Please note the following chapters in this respect. Calibrate the compass occasionally to increase the accuracy of the display. Keep the wristwatch away from magnets or devices with electric field (e.g. mobile phones, loudspeakers, motors, cables). Moreover, make sure you keep a distance to metal objects. The bigger the object, the bigger the distance should be. The digital compass cannot be used within vehicles. When using it in buildings (e.g. for testing purposes), please note that depending on the construction (armoured concrete, metallised insulating glass windows, cables) the compass may yield very inaccurate results. 49

The compass direction of object C as seen from point A is southwest ( SE on the display). The compass direction of object D as seen from point A is northwest ( NW on the display). The degree value is shown in the middle line. The current time is shown in the lowest display line. The marking on the rim shows the magnetic north. Energy saving mode If no button is pressed for one minute, the wristwatch will go into energy saving mode ( IDLE on the display). The compass function is turned off. Press any button to reactivate the compass. Calibration needed If the compass detects inaccuracies or disturbances, OFF CAL is displayed in the first line and the degree value starts flashing. Please see the following chapters on how to do the calibration. 51

If you draw both angles on the map, you will get your current location A on the map. 315 E 3120m 225 C 0 D 4110m B 2120m 315 A 0 Use as navigation aid Even if it seems senseless in times of GPS and little portable GPS devices, it is very well possible to navigate using a map, a compass, and distinctive points. There are books as well as internet sites with a lot of information on this topic. When you go hiking, determine on a map the directions and degree values between two distinctive points (e.g. 315 from point A to B, 0 from point B to C etc.). Check the compass display when hiking. When you come to a fork, for example, you can determine the approximate direction that will lead you to your destination. 53
