July Rally 2015 Newsletter DC s Report by Deb Raffle State Games Competition was held at Bacchus Marsh on Sunday where our games team came 8th out of 25 clubs!! A huge achievement in one year to represent our club winning the Zones games title and then performing so well for the first time at State Games. Once again Sam Ferrari is to be congratulated for coaching the team and for her endless enthusiasm. Working with Children Can all parents/supporters make sure you have given a copy of your WWC to our club membership secretary Alison Codling. Speed to safety continues Last session was at Kyneton racecourse where - Ella De Campo and Laura Dunshea were seen to be bowling around the track at sensible speeds for once! Both girls are really enjoying the experience. The next and last session before finals will be at Seymour racecourse. If any of you get the chance to try this in the future it is well worth it and great fun!! July Rally - planned with the Gisborne Bonanza in mind. Senior Program Unfortunately Megan Campbell is no longer available to teach Dressage. She is moving to Albury to start a new adventure up there. She has been a terrific addition to our riding instructor portfolio introducing more technical dressage work to our up and coming dressage riders. Good luck Megan. 1. Ash Mitchell will be teaching dressage this rally. Her qualifications and experience. She is has a National Coaching Accreditation Scheme certificate for L1 & L2, was a dressage instructor at Riddles Creek PC for 3 years 2008-2010, currently competing at L2 & L1 HRCAV and has an Advanced Diploma in Horse & Business Management. Let s all please make her welcome. 2. Alex Maurer s session will be - picking and riding lines 3. Lucy Gunn s session will be - Rules, mock show jumping competition with jump off 4. Mel Burns session will be Cross Country Junior Program 1. Sam Ferrari will be doing unmounted Polocrosse which I understand is the best way to introduce riders to the game (it should be fun) 2. Cassie Deverall will be teaching show jumping 3. Maureen Hall will be finishing off the D certificate with the white Group 4. And a navigation ride will finish off the day! Can parents/supporters please try to get there a little earlier as there are 2 jumping arenas to set up as well as the Dressage arena. See you at the rally. Please let me know if you cannot make it. Cheers Deb www.gisborne.ponyclubvic.org.au

A sad loss for our Equestrian Community Vale Regina Banninger died peacefully at home on 29th May 2015 after an 8 year battle with cancer. She was unswervingly dedicated to equestrian education and passionately believed in teaching riders to love and be kind to their horses in an endeavour to get the most out of them. She taught us how to be sensitive to the horse and how to work with our horses not dominate them. She is fondly remembered with her loudhailer teaching dressage as our chief instructor at Gisborne Pony Club with the sounds of yah volt drifting across the arena if by chance one of our riders had got it right! She will be sadly missed not only by Gisborne Pony club but all she came in contact with. Deepest sympathy and condolences to her husband Chris. Presidents Report by Jo Winther Hi All, Welcome to winter riding. Just wanted to give you all an update on the kitchen / club rooms situation. WE HAVE TERMITES. The council have inspected the kitchen / club rooms and reported that it will need to be pulled down. At this stage it will be fenced off and no one is to enter it (if you do you will not be covered by insurance if you get hurt). James is currently exploring different options for us. We are working on a plan for the canteen for the rally and the show jumping event. There will be a canteen at the rally on the weekend - this will be a trial for the show jumping event! Thanks Lisa and family for working in challenging circumstances. On a happier note - don t forget that we have our end of year (well financial year) dinner and awards night on Friday the 17th July. It would be great to see you all there. Please let Lisa know if you are coming. Unfortunately the next two rally s clash with our dog sledding races, so Jess and I won t be at the rally s (sad face). I know that Deb and Katrina have action packed rally plans, please ensure that you attend every session to get the full benefit from the wonderful instructors. If you can t make it please let Deb know. Have a great rally. Jo Winther President

State Games Team... WOW what a result! For a group of kids with no games training to go onto to finish 8th in the state, you have become an awesome team! Your dedication over the past 5 months is a true reflection on why you were all so successful. It doesn t matter what sport you participate in, if you put in the training you will always experience successes. Since the state games I have had many of messages of support and kind words from other clubs about your performance. As most of you know I have been part of state games for over 15 years, this year s games is one of the most memorable. Thank you to all the parents who managed to get their kids to training (Mostly on cold and wet nights) 2 night s week. I would also like to thank the committee of the Gisborne pony club is very welcoming. It has been not just an honour but a privilege to coach the games team. The other zones better watch, Gisborne Pony Club are coming back for the 2016 zone games trophy! Sam Ferrari Images courtesy of Jenny Doherty
