Dear Parents and Carers Congratulations to the Year 4 and 5 students who went on camp. Their teachers have reported that they were fantastic and showed the 5 Keys to Success. What great ambassadors for the school. Thank you to their teachers, Mrs Anglim, Mr France, Mr Garcia, Mrs McNamara, Ms Ryan and Ms Duffy for the endless hours of planning and preparation. I would also like to thank Mrs Chittenden and Mr Scott who visited both camps. As everyone is aware, there has been a lot of illness in Brisbane over the last few weeks. Many of our staff and students have also been unwell. Please do not send your child to school if he or she has any flu-like or gastro symptoms. We hope that everyone is on the mend. Other than sickness, students must be at school. This term students have had the opportunity to work with coaches from different sports. All year levels have had a lesson with the ROAR and have enjoyed learning soccer skills. The older classes have had a few extra lessons each. The Year 3s visited Runcorn Heights last week and participated in cricket lessons with the Bull Masters. Last week, the PE lessons were based on badminton. This was a personal favourite for me! It was fun having a game with the Year 3s and 6s. Well done to the 58 students who achieved their GOLD YCDI award. Afternoon tea was a big event with so many high achieving students. Keep it up Runcorn students you can do it! I would like to remind all families about the upcoming P&C event. The Movie night and international food fair will be a real community event. Please come along and bring your friends. Thank you in advance to the volunteers who will be preparing the food and to the hard working P&C members. See you on Saturday. The term is almost over and students deserve a good break. Enjoy the rest and see you back on Tuesday 3 October. Michelle D Netto

R u n c o r n S t a t e S c h o o l P a g e 3 Ready Set Runcorn Prep Last week the Pre-Preps had so much fun together participating in some Father s Day themed activities. Some favourites from the day were tie collages, Dad s Little Monster crowns and name trains! Thank you to the children, parents and grandparents that make our Ready, Set, Runcorn Prep program such a fabulous success! Pre-Prep resumes on Thursday September 14. I wonder what fun activities there will be? Looking forward to seeing you there! From The Prep Rooms This term in Prep we have been learning about writing letters. We were very lucky to have had a visit from our local postman, Bevan. Bevan talked with the Preps about the journey of a letter, the different types of mail delivery vehicles and about some of the dangers that postmen see on their rounds. We were very interested in learning about the post-bike and about all of the different clothes that postmen wear in different weather. Some of us even had a turn of sitting on the bike!! Bevan very kindly gave all of the preps a book called Postie Kate which was very fitting as we celebrated Book Week as well. From the Year 1 Rooms On Tuesday the 5 th September, the Year Ones invited their Grandparents or special older friends to come along and share their stories and interesting objects from the past. The students have been learning to ask interesting questions that helps them find out lots of information. We are so grateful for everyone who came along and shared some very interesting stories and objects. The students learnt so much about how their life is different now compared to their grandparents. The students also loved seeing toys, tools, books, money and equipment that are treasured items of their loved ones. From the Administration Office Payments When making payments to the school, why not utilise our direct deposit payment system as this method is easy to identify and to allocate payments to students. Also, it is quick and convenient and saves you having to wait in a queue. This is our preferred method of payment. If you wish to use this payment method, our school's bank account details are as follows:- BSB 064-162 / Account No. 00090035. The school also accepts cash/cheque/eftpos.

R u n c o r n S t a t e S c h o o l P a g e 4 Please ensure all cash is placed into a sealed envelope and clearly labelled with your child s name, class and what you are paying for. Also, please ensure permission forms are completed and submitted to the class teacher when paying by EFT. Our school does not participate in the Centrepay scheme. If you have any concerns or difficulties with these payments, please do not hesitate to contact the front office to discuss payment arrangements before the cut-off date. Religious Instruction The school offers Christian-based classes and Sikh-based classes. Each instructor holds a Blue Card, is accredited by their religious institution and is approved by the School Principal. If you wish for your child to NOT participate, please send your requests in writing to the Principal (principal@runcornss.eq.edu.au or admin@runcornss.eq.edu.au). Thank you to those parents who have already responded. Emergency Contact Details Are your contact details up to date? The safety of your children is paramount to us so in the event of an emergency, we need to be able to contact parents. Please ensure your contact details are up to date by contacting the office on (07) 3323 8777.
