The Dubai Duty Free Irish Open Welcome On behalf of everyone at The European Tour, I am delighted to welcome you, the players, to the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open Hosted by the Rory Foundation. This will be my first visit to an Irish Open and I can t tell you how much I ve been looking forward to sampling the atmosphere at one of the biggest tournaments on our schedule. This will also be my first visit to The K Club although I have heard a lot about this spectacular venue from many people and, of course, I am aware of its Ryder Cup history. Who can forget Europe s stunning victory here a decade ago when our current Ryder Cup Captain Darren Clarke played such a memorable part? The development of the Irish Open in recent years has been outstanding, and our tournament host is a big reason for that tremendous growth. I have worked with Rory and his team over the past few months to build this event and we were thrilled we were able to increase the prize purse to 4 million for this year, which is double what it was just two years ago. What I can also say to you, is that I am confident we will see another significant increase next year. If there is anything about the tournament you would like to discuss, or if you have any suggestions on how we can make improvements, please feel free to contact me. As I have said to you since day one, my door is always open. Play well and enjoy the week. Keith Pelley Chief Executive, The European Tour 3
