On Friday, the boys played two games. The first game was against Blessed Trinity. They started the tournament out very strong, fighting hard until the end. However, after giving it their all in overtime, we lost this game by only one basket. For the second game later in the evening, they played New Life Academy. The first 20 minutes were fast paced as the boys and the other team took turns running up and down the court making baskets, keeping the score close, but ultimately we did not defeat New Life Academy. On Saturday the boys played their third and final game against St. Ambrose, but again were defeated. Overall, the boys showed great improvements rebounding, passing, dribbling, and shooting while playing together as a team. It was a great experience for the team. Monday s game against St. John s was a huge victory. Not only did we win the game, but we did so as a team! Every single player gave it their all and played tight, aggressive defense to shut down St. John s offense. We kept momentum, moved the ball up and down the court together, creating open shots for one another, all leading to our win! They still are developing their skills, but are looking better each game. 8th Grade Tournament On 01/18 & 19 Winter Sports Picture Day is 01/31. Please make sure players are here after school in their jerseys and have their forms available. It helps with a smooth process.

The Tigers started out slow and Rhiannon O Neill almost broke the metal backboard on a running layup. The Lady Tigers refocused and started to take over. At halftime after a tough start the Lady Tigers led by defense was 18-2. Focus on faith, family, and free throws said retired coach Scott Johnson who decided not to sit on the 90 degree bench and lay out on the stage above gym floor. In the end the Lady Tigers took over, once again balance scoring was the key as they won 42-17 and moved to 3-1 with a date with 4-0 and only undefeated St Ambrose (McMenomy 10, O Neill 8, Johnson 8, Preiner 6, Geelhoed 4, Teeters 4, Buffalo 2) Buffalo 11 rebounds, Teeters 5 steals, Preiner/Johnson 4 Steals.. Transfiguration Catholic School Athletic Director Watch for volunteering opportunities. During the Winter sports season we will need help with the scoreboard. We will be in need of help with not just the scoreboard and score book, but also Admissions and Concessions. Go to Sign Up Genius to see the dates, time slots for volunteering help. Be aware that coaches, assistant coaches and volunteers need to be current with the VIRTUS training. Any student athlete that wants to play on more than one team in the same season can explore that option, just be aware of the chance of more time conflicts. Anyone can join the Tiger Pride Booster Club at any time during the year. It is a fun group and the money they raise selling concessions helps with the school sports teams. Over the next several weeks we will needs a lot of help at basketball games. Both regular season CAA games and at the tournaments we host. On 01/18 & 19 we are hosting the 8th grade level tournament. On April 6 the Black & Gold celebration will take place in the school gym. It is a fun time for all. The HIGHLIIGHT of the evening (in my opinion) is the new inductee into the Transfiguration Athletic Hal of Fame.
Swim Team We have had three practices and it has been great to see all of our swimmers smiling faces back in the pool to kick off the new season. Our new swimmers are going through evaluations to be placed in the correct practice group and we are already seeing improvements with all of them. This year we have three new swimmers from Transfiguration, Allyson, Dylan and Mitchell; and 24 new swimmers in total from our five schools. The Swiminators is a joint team consisting of Presentation, St. Jerome, St. Jude of the Lake, St. Peter and Transfiguration with many wonder volunteer parent coaches and returning Swiminator Alumni who student coach with us. If anyone still wants to try competitive swimming, you can still submit and athletic registration form and try 2 or 3 practices to see if your athlete likes it before paying the fee-just talk to Jim Weingartz or Bob Kirchberg.
