January/February 2019 We Ride Every Day Volume 50 Issue 1 What s Inside Presidents Message P. 2 NFBC Kit P. 3 2018 Annual Stats PP. 4-11 Banquet Pictures P.12 Membership Application & Renewal Form P. 15 Anniversary Year This is the first issue of the NFBC Newsletter in our 50th Year. It is a tribute to all of the members of the Club, and especially to those who are longtime members, that it has been in existence for 50 years! It is a tremendous accomplishment, especially when considering the changes that have taken place in bicycling and in general in that span of time. Let s keep the spirit of the NFBC and begin to adapt for the next 50 years. www.nfbc.com

January/February 2019 We Ride Every Day Page 2 Happy New Year, NFBC! I hope you came through the holidays well-rested and ready for a new year. If you were too busy to relax, now is the time to rest while you anxiously wait for decent riding weather. As the temperatures fluctuate, I am hoping that we can have some sun, along with 9:00 AM temperatures of more than 45 degrees, on a weekend, so the unofficial rides can start. OK, I realize that many of you don t even need those nicer days to fall on the weekend, but alas, my free time is more limited. The Ride Committee will be getting together sometime in middle to late January to create the year s weekend ride schedule. We have many volunteers who host parties after a ride. If you are interested in hosting one of these parties at your house or at some other location, now is a good time to talk to, or email Liz Skelton so we can work it into the schedule early. 2019 will be the 50 th Anniversary of NFBC. John Tjahjadi has been enthusiastically designing a commemorative jersey and matching shorts for us. You have probably seen the designs on Facebook or in our Yahoo group email. We are working to find a time and place to hold a fit kit party, where John will have samples of the various garments, but not in our design, so you can check out the sizing before you order. The time and place is not confirmed yet, but it will likely be the weekend of January 19-20. Once we do this, the Primal Custom shop will be open for us to place our orders. I look forward to a great, safe year of riding to come. Brenda President s Message

January/February 2019 We Ride Every Day Page 3 NFBC 50th Anniversary and Red 716 Kits NFBC will offer two design kits to purchase for 2019: the brand new NFBC 50th Anniversary kits and the most recent Red 716 Kits. Below are the styles and cuts available for both designs. In order for an item to go to production, it will need a minimum buy of 10 each. We are working on getting a unisex fit and one common design for arm warmers and possibly socks that will match either design as well. We welcome articles or story ideas about club members or club activities and digital pictures of either, with captions. Send to Joan Charleson or Mike Maher. Party Rules For NFBC members, biking is number one followed by socializing with friends. Get togethers are organized by volunteers in the club who enjoy hosting parties. The host(ess) supplies the facility, main course, soft drinks and, of course, time and energy. Those who attend bring a dish to share, a beverage of their choice, and funds for the kitty to offset the expenses of the host. Bring a lawn chair. Be a welcomed party goer and do your share to make these get togethers continued successes for the club. Help Spread Sunshine On behalf of the NFBC we will send a note of cheer to someone who may need it. Notify Terry Turski (tturski@aol.com, 688-8904) or Brenda Fischer, Club President.
