Germany - The Three Islands Cycle Tour 2019 Individual Self-Guided 9 days/ 8 nights On this cycle tour by the beautiful Baltic Sea you will have the opportunity to explore three islands: Hiddensee, which is free of cars, Rügen with its well-known chalk cliffs and the holiday resort Usedom with its imperial spas. Experience vast sandy beaches, the beacons of the many lighthouses, lonely pine forests and exciting cities such as Stralsund, which hosts the German maritime museum. Let yourself be enchanted by the beauty of the natural landscape: Rugged cliffs, which have withstood the elements for millennia, vast beaches and endless views of the sea await you during your holiday on the German islands in the Baltic Sea.
Itinerary Day to Day Day 1: Individual arrival in Stralsund The starting point of your cycle tour is the old Hanseatic town Stralsund, whose old town was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site because it has been so beautifully preserved. Its former importance as a trading town can still be seen today. Let your evening come to a pleasant end in the old town and wander across the harbour island, where the old sailing school ship, the Gorch Fock can be visited. Day 2: Stralsund - Hiddensee Breege/Glowe/Sagard 15 20 km + boat trips In the morning, you take the ferry to Hiddensee island, where you go on a trip by bike to the 28 meter high lighthouse called "Leuchtfeuer Dornbusch", or simply spend a day swimming at the beach. In the afternoon, a boat takes you to Breege on Rügen. Either you stay in this small harbour town or you cycle to Glowe or Sagard. Day 3: Day trip to the chalk cliffs, boat trip (not included) or 20-50 km If you have spent the night in Breege, your cycle towards Sassnitz located on the Jasmund peninsula. Jasmund is also where Glowe and Sagard are located. You cycle through beech woods, across moors and meadows in Jasmund national park, up to the famous chalk cliffs at Königsstuhl, where you have fantastic views. This cycle tour is short but tough. People who want to leave out the hills by bike should explore the famous cliff coast by boat (not included in price, starting in Sassnitz). Day 4: Glowe - Binz Göhren 30-50 km You cycle along the coast and via Prora, where the buildings will amaze you, you reach the Mönchgut peninsula. Look forward to Rügen's largest seaside resort in Binz and to Rügen's longest pier in Sellin, which extends almost 400 metres into the sea. Today's destination, Göhren, awaits with long beaches of the finest sand imaginable. Day 5: Day on the beach or hiking on the Mönchgut peninsula Mönchgut peninsula is surrounded by the Baltic Sea on three sides and is one of Rügen's wonderful secrets. The diverse countryside has a lot to offer. You can decide spontaneously what you feel like doing: a relaxed day swimming at the beach or a short walk through the dunes, over the heaths into the woods. No matter how you decide, you're sure to like it! Day 6: Göhren Greifswald 50 km + train ride and ferry trip (ferry trip is not included) Today, you continue in a relaxed manner: in Göhren you take the steam train, Racing Roland, to Putbus. Here you get on your bike and follow pleasantly level ground to Glewitz, where you take a small car ferry (not included in price) back to the mainland. You cycle the last few kilometres to the old Hanseatic town of Greifswald.
Day 7: Greifswald Wolgast 50 km Today you continue cycling along the Baltic coast. Your first stop could be in Lubmin - as there's a great beach and you can while away some time underneath the large shady trees. It's not far to today's destination - the gate to the island of Usedom. Let your evening come to a pleasant end in the historic old quarter of Wolgast, part of which is on an island. Day 8: Wolgast Heringsdorf on Usedom 40 km Via Peene Bridge you reach the sunny island of Usedom and cycle along Krummin Wiek to Krummin and from there to the Baltic resort of Zinnowitz. From here, you follow the wooded coastline with lots of opportunities to stop and rest on a sandy beach or go for a dip in the sea. You have reached your destination when you get to the magnificent Imperial seaside resorts. Day 9: Individual departure or extension of stay After breakfast, you start your individual return journey home or extend your stay
