Buller was originally established as a winter snow sports facility but due to changing climatic conditions and reduced snow cover, mountain biking was introduced as an off-season recreation activity to boost visitation. In 2012/13 summer visitation out numbered winter visitation for the first time.

Govt. /278 hectare park with 39 Ha under licence for MTB Park Currently Unleased Territory It is ACT Govt managed land. Part of the park comes under ACT Govt jurisdiction and the majority comes under the National Capital Authority that is a Commonwea lth Agency. Total area of Licensed to Cairns MTB Club. Trail Alliance of Cairns maintains and develops new trails in the area. TAC is a well-organised network in Cairns that completes work to an international standard. The land/park is Territory Venues and Events (TVE), which is an ACT Govt body. The park is maintained by a range of contracts managed and controlled by TVE, ACT Govt. Occasionally run days, where s are encouraged to help out with some trail work. 30-40km IMBA standard range of XC trails and a World Cup standard downhill course. Stromlo Forest Park boasts a purpose built event pavilion, a 1.2km road criterium cycling circuit, a 2.5km grass cross country running track, a network of equestrian trails and over 50km or mountain bike trails suitable for riders of all abilities. Majority of the trails are XC trails that are mostly single track. One downhill track with two start alignments and a skills trail with a number of Technical trail features along the way. All trails are built and hosts a number of XC events each year as well as major National MTB races. A round of the World Cup series was staged in April 2014. Other events include trail running, multi-sport and enduro riding. Stromlo FP hosts a series of National, State and Club Cross-Country, enduro and downhill events as well as road cycling and cross country running events. The park was also the host for the 2009 UCI World Champs and a round of the World Cup in 2008. Shimano MTB Open 24 hours every day no entry fee. Small race registration fee for local MTB events. More for national and international race events. The park is generally free for public use. Bookings taken for any groups over 25 and charge $2 per head. For the large events and high profile events a Venue Hire agreement negotiated by TVE senior management and the hirer is prepared. There are no parking fees. The facility can offer office space, data, Approximate annual MTB numbers is around 100,000 No corporate sponsorship. The park is currently 100% Government funded although hunting for sponsorship. The large events are generally funded by the hirer/club who in turn may have a number of sponsors. Currently no concessions on site although about to complete a master plan that does include or have space identified for food, bike shops etc. Accommodation is also high on the priority list, Currently looking for potential investors to build/operate accommodation on-site, the ACT Government is very keen on the concept also. The park does not run a shuttle service but our local club (Canberra Off Road Cyclists) will occasionally run shuttles for DH days.

The land is owned by City Council and half of the park is within Wellington Park, which has similar tenure to a National Park- City of Boulder, Colorado purchased 132 Acres of land in 1996 to establish a The majority of the work is performed through a track maintenance contract. Currently GCC, but developed by s, Dirt Devils MTB club and local Mountain Bike Park Association. Maintained by s but trying to develop an appropriate system for /publi c safety and track quality. by an independent contractor engaged by City of Boulder, Colorado. maintained as per IMBA guidelines GP and National Gravity Enduro. power, PA system, toilets and kitchen facilities. Significant XC trails, a National Downhill track (shuttled during races but vehicles need a permit to enter Wellington Park, so therefore cannot be shuttled outside of events. There is a shorter downhill track that people also push down. Significant dirt jumps, a slope style course, 4X and Dual Slalom course. North Shore trail marked but it is unsafe and likely to be pulled down, it s currently marked as closed. Regular XC and Downhill events as part of the state series. Hosted Nationals 3 times. Hosted the Oceania Championships last year for XC and Downhill. Schools regularly use the area, a commercial training company, some tour groups travel the North South track and into the park regularly. No fees, it is a free public facility. Trying to negotiate a system of trail maintenance or some cost recovery from the club for extra wear during events. Counters only recently installed. 1100 people over the weekend of the State Championships (XC and Downhill). Estimate 12,000 XC riders per annum entering from North- South track. Potentially same amount from main entry. 42 acres managed as a bike park with dedicated trail facilities for MTB, BMX, enduro, downhill, cyclo-cross and freestyle. Road cycling events also Major events all year including international, national and state level competitions No entry fee to the park although race and event fees are common. Also have donation Up to 500 riders per day! Winter season does limit activity and during heavy snow falls and wet No sponsorship of the site but the events are often sponsored by the local bike shops and bike companies, there are two well known MTB trail building companies locally who have sponsored events and offer free pre or post trail maintenance. Bike shops and local community philanthropists readily sponsor events and activities as well as make donations to the site. The park was mostly initially developed through a State Govt Sport and Rec grant of about $30,000 and built on from there in around 2005. For the last 3 years GCC has contributed $15,000 annually to maintain the park. No facilities within the park (no toilets, water, car park outside the park unless an event is run and the gates are open for parking within the park hub), facilities nearby in local park. New signage has all trails classified to IMBA grades. Recently added an interactive trail map on the GCC website and will have a PDF ski-style downloadable map soon. Very strong network (Boulder Mountain bike Alliance) that organises fund-raisers and working bees for bike park activities. Raised over $500K to start construction in 2010.

Full time staff, professional trail crew building and maintaining trails as well as guides, marshalls and administrators to run the site. Trails maintained by Rotorua MTB club and huge effort. Charitable trust funding used for construction contractors. often start and finish at the bike park. 25.5 km of graded trails to cater for expert and advanced XC and downhill riders through to easy grade family oriented pathways 30 trails form the diverse network offer. single track operates in one direction only in all categories of cycling. Regular major events and competitions at national and regional level. Hosted 2006 UCI MTB World Championship s. Recreation and events Rotorua District Council. buckets at most events. 5 entry per day or 30 for 1 day entry with multiple uplifts Riding trails is free to all weather the park will close n/a 185,000 + (2006 figures) Long list of sponsors including bike and component manufacturers (eg Trek & Shimano) to tyre companies (Continental) and vehicle makers (Mercedes Vito) No designated commercial sponsor, but work contributed by some bike related businesses. Bike hire, servicing and retail sales available on site. Shuttle service also operates as a lift to return riders to top of the main hill. Strong linkage to other tourism attractions and accommodation options in the area. Also identified links with XC trails (Cognation) in Wales Tree crop in forest is owned by a US investment company and NZ super fund, but they allow use of forest for recreation. Trail system is continually being added to and extended with new trails
