Gravity Enduro The club ran its first Gravity Enduro race on the 12th April. It was a multi stage event with three timed descents on three different trails. The riders had to ride back up the hill in between runs. No shuttles. The weather came to the party and all riders had a fun day enjoying our amazing trails. Big thank you to all the people who helped with trail work prior to the event, and to all the volunteers who helped on the day. Maxxis tyres, Cycle Station Albury and Sweet Water Brewery for thier prize donations. Congratulations to the podium placers, results should be up on the website soon. See you at next years race. OUT OF THE SADDLE 5 minutes with Francesca Wellington Most memorable bike ride ever. My most memorable ride was when I rode with a group of friends from Melbourne to Uluru as a fundraising event for the Cancer Council. 2300 epic kilometers in 12 epic days. And I didnt get a flat the whole way! What are your favourite bike trails? My favourite place to ride on the road is Falls Creek and my favourite mountain bike ride is the survey track. What is your favourite reading material? My favorite reading material is just a newspaper. Boring I know! Who would you most like to go for a ride with? I would most like to go for a ride with any of my local Bright/Mount Beauty bike friends. Or alternatively if they're not available I guess Jens Voight or Peter Sagan would do. What bikes/s do you currently ride? My two main bikes are a Giant TCR Advanced and a Giant Anthem X1. Well used and well due for an update soon. Funniest biking memory... My funniest biking memory was when I was 16, living in Melbourne and sneaking out of the house in the very early hours of the morning to join the bunch rides on beach road. It was not usual to run into my twin sister on the way out, sneaking back into the house after a long night at a nightclub in the city. Gosh she looked terrible! 5

Kids Clinics Another successful term of kids clinics have wound up for winter. Last year focused on a different skill each week with kids learning fundamentals such as body positioning, braking, cornering and tackling obstacles. Term one this year saw more time just riding, putting it all together and having some fun on the local trails. The final session before Easter finished with a ride to find the Easter eggs, with a total of one kilogram of chocolate! Maybe there are still a few eggs out there. A big thank you to all the instructors and parent helpers who made the clinics possible, they wouldn t happen without you. I d love to hear any feedback you have on the clinics. Eg time, day, duration, format, groups, location. One of the groups heading off for a ride 7
