The Bison can be seen on CBS Sports Network at 6 p.m. when they play for the title. About the Game Bucknell will try to avoid its first 0-4 Patriot League start since 1991-92 when it hosts Lehigh at 7 p.m. at Sojka Pavilion on Wednesday. The Mountain Hawks are 2-1 in league contests, but the latest was no easy task as they went to double overtime with Colgate. Although Bucknell has struggled against Lehigh in recent years, there is plenty of success in the series. After Wednesday s game, the Bison will have played the Mountain Hawks 69 times, more than any other opponent. Kevin Foedinger will continue to call all the action on WVBU 90.5 FM and SportsJuice.com. Live video and stats will be available at BucknellBison. com. With a Victory Over Lehigh, Bucknell Would... Avoid its longest losing streak of the year. The Bison have lost their last eight games. Defeat the Mountain Hawks for the first time since Feb. 20, 2007. Avoid its first five-game home losing streak since January/February 2005, which is the only other time the Bison have lost at least five in a row at Sojka Pavilion. Snap a nine-game losing streak to the Mountain Hawks. Quick Facts Lindsay Horbatuck leads the Patriot League in free throw shooting, having gone 7-for-7 from the line in three conference games this winter. Bill Broderick debuted as Bucknell s head coach Jan. 14 vs. Lafayette. Bucknell has shot 40.0 percent or better from the field in three of the last five games. Rachel Voss was named the Susquehanna Valley Limousine Bison Athlete of the Week on Jan. 9. Lindsay Horbatuck also claimed the award on Dec. 13. It is the first time two women s basketball players have been named a Bison Athlete of the Week in the same season since 2007-08. Bucknell has scored more points off turnovers than its opponent in three games this year - vs. NJIT (17-7), Fordham (11-6), Yale (27-21). Shelby Romine became the first current Bison to 500 career points when the Bison played Yale on Jan. 3. She is currently at 542. Bucknell has at least three blocked shots in all but four games this season. Bucknell s eight-game losing streak is tied for the third longest in program history. The Bison went 8-5 at home but 3-12 on the road during the 2010-11 season. All three road victories came during Patriot League play. The Bison were fourth in the 2011-12 Preseason Patriot League Poll.

The Bison shot just 29.4 percent from the field and turned the ball over 25 times. It was the second time that month that Bucknell was held to fewer than 40 points after taking a 66-38 loss on Feb. 9. The loss to Lehigh came on a tough night offensively for Bucknell, which shot 15-for-51 from the field for its worst field goal percentage of the year. Lehigh had no such trouble, however, shooting 29-for-56 (51.8 percent). The Bison led 14-13 at the 10:29 mark, but Lehigh s press began to wear on them and buckets were harder to come by. Although Bucknell was able to break the press, the effort routinely put them late in the shot clock, forcing them to rush their offense and take poor shots. Four times the possession in a shot clock violation. At halftime Lehigh had extended its lead to 34-18. Lehigh picked up where it left off as play resumed in the second half. The Mountain Hawks opened with a 15-4 run with Bucknell s only points coming on a free throw from Shelby Romine and a 3-pointer from Taylor Phillips. The Mountain Hawks ultimately outscored the Bison 38-21 in the second half. Bucknell s 39 points was its fewest against Lehigh since it defeated the Mountain Hawks 39-38 on Jan. 26, 1980. History vs. Lehigh Lehigh leads 38-30 overall in the series, but Bucknell has a 16-15 advantage when playing in Lewisburg. Bucknell s scoring margin at home against Lehigh is +1.5. That number took a hit in recent games, however. The Mountain Hawks have won the last three contests at Sojka Pavilion by an average of 14.7 points. Despite having gone four years and nine games without a win against Lehigh, Bucknell s all-time scoring margin against the Mountain Hawks is just -1.3. That scoring margin was in the positive end of the spectrum for the Bison as recently as last February, but Lehigh reversed those fortunes with a 33-point victory at Stabler Arena. It was the Mountain Hawks largest margin of victory in series history. Bucknell s opponent in the first game ever played at Sojka Pavilion was none other than Lehigh on Jan. 15, 2003. The Mountain Hawks claimed a 74-67 win. Bucknell has gone nearly three years since recording a double-double against Lehigh. The last player to do so was Hope Foster on Feb. 27, 2008 (14 points-13 rebounds). Joyce Novacek s 24 points against Lehigh on March 6, 2010 was the most in seven seasons. The last player to score more was Molly Creamer, who tallied 35 points on Jan. 15, 2003. Novacek s point total also is also the second-highest by a Bison in the Patriot League Tournament. No current Bucknell player has ever won against Lehigh. Recent Results (home games in italics): Jan. 27, 2010 Lehigh, 69-47 Feb. 24, 2010 Lehigh, 56-41 March 6, 2010 Lehigh, 70-58 (PL Tournament, ) Jan. 26, 2011 Lehigh, 64-48 Feb. 23, 2011 Lehigh, 72-39 About the Mountain Hawks Although the conference season is still young, Lehigh has had a bit of up and down in the Patriot League. The Mountain Hawks opened with a 15-point vs. Holy Cross before falling 55-49 at American. They nearly lost their second straight a few days later, but pulled out an 85-82 double overtime victory against Colgate. After three games Lehigh, which was picked second in the Patriot League Preseason Poll, ranks first in the conference in scoring offense (69.7) and assists (16.0). Lehigh is looking for its fourth consecutive 20-win season, but it will have to move forward without recent graduate Erica Prosser. Prosser became the first in league history to be named the PL Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year in the same campaign as she led the Mountain Hawks to the Patriot League Championship game (lost, American, 69-64) and the WNIT (lost, St. Bonaventure, 77-43). Broderick Becomes Interim Head Coach On Jan. 13 Bucknell women s basketball coach Kathy Fedorjaka announced her resignation, effective immediately. Assistant coach Bill Broderick has assumed additional responsibilities to lead the program on an interim basis, and a national search will take place at season s end to identify the program s next head coach. Fedorjaka was in her 15th season as head coach at Bucknell, making her the longest-tenured head coach in program history. She guided the Bison to three 20-win seasons and Patriot League championships in 2002 and 2008. She departs with a record of 209-211 at Bucknell. Broderick is in his second year as an assistant coach at Bucknell. Prior to Bucknell, he served as an assistant coach at Elon (2008-10), Pittsburgh (1998-2002), Arizona (1995-98), Frostburg State (1994-95) and Potomac State (1992-94), in addition to a head coaching stint in the high school ranks in Northern Virginia. On the Way Up Bucknell has enjoyed a scoring increase since the start of Patriot League play. In non-conference action, the Bison averaged 48.9 points. In three league games, the Bison are at 58.3 points per game. Individually, Shelby Romine was the only Bucknellian averaging more than seven points per game during the non-conference tilt, but Lindsay Horbatuck (9.7 ppg), Rachel Voss (9.0), Felicia Mgbada (8.7), Alyssa Dunn (7.7) and Micki Impellizeri (7.0) have joined Romine (12.7) in that club during league action. Looking for Production Off the Bench It isn t too surprising that much of Bucknell s scoring has come from its starters, but the ratio is a bit skewed over the last eight games. During the team s current losing streak, starters have accounted for 292 points (73.4%). Reserves have scored 106 points (26.6%). Christina Chukwuedo, Lindsay Horbatuck, Felicia Mgbada, Shelby Romine and Rachel Voss have been the Bison s starting five during that stretch. Voss leads the group with 9.1 points per game. Sure Thing When Lindsay Horbatuck puts the ball up, there s a pretty good chance it s going to go in the basket. In the five games since shooting 0-for-4 at West Virginia on Dec. 28, the junior forward is 16-for-29 (.552) from the field. She also leads the Patriot League in field goal percentage (.579) this winter. Horbatuck has a.490 (119-for-243) career average. League Leaders Despite shooting.283 (17-for-60) from the field against Lafayette last Saturday, Bucknell is still leading the Patriot League in field goal percentage. That ranking was helped in a big way by the Bison s.519 (27-for-52) against Army and.481 (26-for-54) at Colgate. Through three games, Bucknell s field goal percentage stands at.422. Shot Blockers Bucknell and Lafayette averaged 12.0 blocks per game in their two meetings last year, and that trend continued on Saturday night. The teams combined for 14 blocks - six for Bucknell and eight for Lafayette - in the most recent showdown. The Bison s leader in the category, Felicia Mgbada, was held without a block, but Alyssa Dunn picked up the slack with a career-high three blocked shots. Dunn now has six blocks this season and 14 in her career. Low Shots Although they couldn t quite collect the win, the Bison held the Lafayette to a handful of opponent season lows. The Leopards were 0-for-4 from 3-point range, marking the fewest 3-pointers made and attempted by a Bucknell foe this winter. The 14 made field goals was also a low, while the 49 attempts from the floor was one shy of the low mark, 48 field goal attempts allowed to Army on Jan. 7. Going Back-to-Back For the first time in her career, Lindsay Horbatuck scored in double figures for a second consecutive game when she totaled 12 point vs. Lafayette on Saturday. The junior also had 13 at Colgate the previous contest. Hitting the Boards Bucknell has out-rebounded just one of its last 12 opponents - Colgate by a mark of 37-29. Despite that streak, the Bison still have a +0.3 rebounding margin for the season. The last time Bucknell did not finish the season with a positive rebounding margin was 2007-08 (-4.1). Out for the Year Bucknell freshman guard/forward Amy Zehner has withdrawn from the University for the spring semester due to personal reasons.

The last time Bucknell put five players in double digits was Feb. 9, 2008 when it defeated Navy 65-50 at Sojka Pavilion. It has also been quite some time since Bucknell finished with five double-digit scorers but suffered a loss. The Bison fell 67-63 in overtime to Holy Cross on Jan. 14, 2006 despite the point production from Lauren Schober (18), Lindsey Hollobaugh (12), Kesha Champion (11), Hope Foster (10) and Amanda Brown (10). Assists Abound Bucknell tallied a season-high 16 assists at Colgate on Jan. 11, bringing its five-game average to 14.0. Shelby Romine has 4.2 assists per game during that same stretch. The Bison have recorded more assists than turnovers in just one game this season and that also came during the current five-game period. Bucknell finished with 15 assists and 12 turnovers against Army on Jan. 7. Looking for a Stop at Three Bucknell is in danger of suffering its first five-game home losing streak since Jan. 28-Feb. 19, 2005. During that time, the Bison fell to American (56-53), Navy (53-43), Lafayette (68-62), Lehigh (67-55) and Army (58-56). They averaged 53.8 points while opponents averaged 60.4 points in those five games. Bucknell s scoring average in its last four home contests currently stands at 52.8 points per game. Opponent Scoring Bison opponents have seen more than their fair share of success from the field in the last several games. Foes have shot.400 or better in six of the last eight games with the two exceptions being Mount St. Mary s, which was.393 from the floor on Dec. 31, and Lafayette at.286 last Saturday. From 3-point range, opponents have shot.400 or better in five of those eight contests. The exceptions again were Mount St. Mary s (.167), Colgate (.333) and Lafayette (.000). Bucknell has lost each of its last eight games. Mgbada Blocks Felicia Mgbada continues to assert herself defensively in the paint. For the 13th time this season, the junior recorded at least two blocked shots in a single game when Bucknell took on Army. Mgbada is up to 29 blocks on the season to lead the team and has already surpassed her singleseason high. As a freshman, she totaled 14 blocked shots and improved that number to 18 as a sophomore. The forward also has 32 blocks when playing at Sojka Pavilion, ranking fourth alltime at the facility. Her 61 total career blocked shots is one shy of cracking the Bucknell top-10. Horbatuck Doubles It Up Few Bison made a bigger impact in Bucknell s 10-point win over Fordham on Dec. 6 than Lindsay Horbatuck. Horbatuck scored 12 points and added 14 rebounds to collect her second doubledouble of the season. The junior, who later tallied 13 points and 12 rebounds at Colgate on Jan. 11, now has five double-doubles in her career. The only one of those standout performances to play out at Sojka Pavilion was against the Rams. Bucknell 500 With her seven points against Yale on Jan. 3 - the 43rd game of her career - Shelby Romine brought her career scoring total to 504. The last Bison who needed fewer than 43 games to reach 500 points was Lindsey Hollobaugh. Hollobaugh reached 500 in her 31st career game, scoring 13 points against Texas A&M. It was the second outing of her sophomore season. Bucknell s alltime leading scorer Molly Creamer reached 500 points in her 32nd career game, also the second contest of her sophomore season. Voss a Bison Athlete of the Week Rachel Voss became the second women s basketball player this season to be named the Susquehanna Valley Limousine Bison Athlete of the Week on Jan. 9. The junior averaged 12.0 points and 5.5 rebounds the previous week. Included in that run was a career-high 21 points vs. Army and a career-high-tying nine rebounds vs. Yale. Lindsay Horbatuck was named the Bison Athlete of the Week on Dec. 13 after recording a doubledouble against Fordham. The junior forward totaled 12 points and 14 rebounds in 32 minutes of play against the Rams, helping the Bison to a 49-39 win. It is the first time since Hope Foster, Kesha Champion and Kristina Collymore in 2007-08 that more than one women s basketball player has been named the Bison Athlete of the Week during the same season. Rebounding First Through 18 games this winter, Lindsay Horbatuck is averaging more rebounds (7.7) than points (6.3). That is not as unusual as it might seem as the junior finished each of her previous two seasons with a similar ratio as well. As a freshman she closed out the campaign with 4.1 boards and 4.0 points per game, while as a sophomore she finished at 4.3 rebounds and 4.2 points.

Bucknell might be in the middle of an eight-game losing streak, but several Bison are putting up some improved numbers during that stretch. Rachel Voss is averaging 9.1 points (.400; 32-80 FG) and 5.6 rebounds in the last seven games. Shelby Romine is at 8.8 points and 4.0 assists per game, while Alyssa Dunn is averaging than 7.8 points per outing. As a team, the Bison are shooting.373 from the field, but their opponents are at.447. The squad s scoring margin has dipped to -16.6 and the rebounding margin to -3.5 in those eight games as well. Highs and Lows A look at some of Bucknell s numbers against Army on Jan. 7 may leave you wondering how the game ended in a loss. The Bison shot.519 from the field, made 27 field goals and held the Black Knights to 48 field goal attempts. They also made five 3-pointers, dished out 15 assists and turned the ball over 12 times. All of those numbers were the best of the season for Bucknell. Unfortunately, Army also shot.521 overall, the highest by a Bucknell opponent this winter. The Bison s 17 defensive rebounds and 25 total boards were their lowest totals of the year. Romine Recap vs. Army Sophomore Shelby Romine put together one of the best games of her career on Jan. 7 vs. Army, but her success against the Black Knights is nothing new. The guard, who totaled 17 points in 40 minutes of play this weekend, is now averaging 16.8 points and 40.0 minutes against Army. She also has 3.8 assists per game in those four meetings. Looking for Number Three Heading into the 19th game of the season, Bucknell is looking for its third win. Prior to this winter, the longest it had taken the Bison to get to three wins was 17 games in 1991-92, but they have failed to get to three twice in program history. Bucknell closed out the 1974-75 campaign with a 2-6 record. They were also 2-24 in 1990-91. 2010-11 vs. 2011-12 Non-Conference Play The 2011-12 non-league schedule is over. Both juniors recorded career highs in blocks. Dunn finished with two and Voss had three. Along with Mgbada s two blocked shots against the Mountaineers, the trio of juniors accounted for all seven of the team s rejections. Mgbada, Voss, Dunn and Lindsay Horbatuck have claimed 62.7 percent of Bucknell s blocked shots this season. Home-Cooked Dishes With five assists vs. Canisius, Christina Chukwuedo improved her career total at Sojka Pavilion to 104 and moved into fifth place all-time at the facility. The senior, who now has 116 assists on her home court, passed former teammate Lauren Schober to break onto the list. Chukwuedo also

Horbatuck Hustles for Rebounds With 138 boards on the year, Lindsay Horbatuck has set a new personal single-season high. In getting to her total, the forward has recorded six double-digit rebounding games. That brings her career total to 11, more than any other current Bison. Horbatuck registered 10 rebounds - four offensive and six defensive - against Penn State on Dec. 21. It was the second consecutive game against the Lady Lions in which she totaled 10 boards. She is averaging 7.3 rebounds per game in her career against Penn State. Horbatuck s four offensive rebounds against Penn State was a game high. Bucknell s 17 offensive boards in the game was a season high. The Bison also limited the Lady Lions to 10 offensive boards, a major improvement over the 22 allowed last season, which stood as a season high for Bison opponents. Of her 367 career rebounds, 148 (40.3%) have come on the offensive glass. Horbatuck currently leads Bucknell with 7.7 rebounds per game. The junior ranked third on the team in rebounding behind Joyce Novacek and Cosima Higham in each of the previous two seasons. Academic Success Success in the classroom has long been the norm for Bucknell women s basketball, and last year was no different. For the second consecutive season, Bucknell led the way in the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll with 10 selections, while Joyce Novacek was named to the inaugural Academic All-Patriot League Team. The award was just one of many for the recent graduate, who also claimed her third Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team citation. Novacek joins Bucknell Hall of Fame member Jennifer Walz as the only Bison to be named All-District three times. Bucknell was also ranked second nationally among Division I schools for its team grade-point average. The Bison were named a Women s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Academic Top 25 Team in July with a collective GPA of 3.632. Up Next Bucknell s next two games will play out on the road. The Bison will take on Holy Cross first on Saturday with tipoff in Worcester, Mass., at 1 p.m. The last time Bucknell defeated Holy Cross at the Hart Center was for the 2008 Patriot League Championship, 57-45.
