Athlete/Cach Nminatin Criteria 2 PURPOSE Canadian Sprt Institute Pacific, thrugh a partnership with the Prvince f British Clumbia (BC), viasprt, the netwrk f PacificSprt centres, and Badmintn BC, cllabrates t deliver prgrams and services t place BC athletes 1 nt Natinal Teams, and ensure athletes and caches have every advantage t win medals fr Canada. The partners wrk jintly t encurage sprt excellence and increase pdium perfrmances in cmmunities thrughut BC. This template prvides a standardized prcess t identify athletes and caches within the Badmintn BC high perfrmance prgram as well as athletes wh are tracking against key develpment pathway metrics tward natinal teams. The levels within the targeting seek t create a cmmn standard acrss all sprts; hence, the template must be used in its entirety. PSO/DSOs are able t adapt the template t suit their wn purpses (e.g. branding, applicatin prcess, etc.) prvided all relevant infrmatin is cntained within. Canadian Sprt Institute / PacificSprt athlete and cach supprt fr the Pdium and Canadian Elite nminatin fcuses n athletes and teams 0-4 years frm the Pdium, identified by the sprt-specific Pdium Pathway (see Figure 1 belw) and Gld Medal Prfile. These athletes and teams represent the current generatin f Natinal Team athletes wh are carded by the NSO thrugh Sprt Canada s Athlete Assistance Prgram. Canadian Sprt Institute / PacificSprt athlete and cach supprt fr the Canadian Develpment and Prvincial Develpment nminatin fcuses n athletes and teams 5-12 years frm the Pdium, identified by the sprt-specific Pdium Pathway (see Figure 1 belw) and Gld Medal Prfile. These athletes and teams represent bth the next generatin (5-8 years frm Pdium) and future generatins (9-12 years frm Pdium) f Olympic and Paralympic (r Wrld Champinship) medallists. Supprt may be fcussed mre tward the future generatin (9-12 years frm Pdium) fr sme targeted Paralympic sprts depending n the quality f the next generatin (5-8 years frm Pdium) f athletes and teams. Figure 1 1 In general, a BC athlete is defined as an athlete brn, develped, and/r trained/centralized (fr a minimum f three mnths) in British Clumbia.

Athlete/Cach Nminatin Criteria 3 DETAILS Thrugh the abve partnership, and with the abve purpse in mind, Badmintn BC may nminate athletes and their caches wh meet specific criteria fr Canadian Sprt Institute Pacific / PacificSprt athlete r cach registratin. Upn registering, athletes and caches can engage in enhanced prgrams, benefits, and selected supprt services thrugh Canadian Sprt Institute Pacific and the netwrk f PacificSprt reginal centres in BC. Canadian Sprt Institute and PacificSprt athlete supprt is divided int fur levels based n perfrmance, each with a slate f designated benefits. Please click n the fllwing fr an utline f Canadian Sprt Institute Athlete and Cach benefits, prgrams, and services. Please see Appendix 1 fr an utline f Badmintn BC targeted athlete benefits, prgrams, and services as delivered thrugh Badmintn BC. Targeted athletes are nminated by Badmintn BC based n the athlete criteria belw. Any enquiries regarding the sprt-specific selectin criteria can be made t Tby Ng (perfrmance@badmintnbc.cm). As a general principle, all athletes are expected t demnstrate evidence f their nging perfrmance prgressin and tracking tward Badmintn BC high perfrmance prgram benchmarks t remain targeted. Tby Ng and the Canadian Sprt Institute technical lead wrking with Badmintn BC have the final authrity ver the Canadian Sprt Institute nminatin prcess. The athlete and cach nminatin cycle fr Canadian Sprt Institute / PacificSprt / Badmintn BC targeting runs September 1 August 31 annually, and athletes are selected based n perfrmances frm the previus 12 mnths. Athletes wh meet criteria thrughut the annual nminatin cycle may be added t the Badmintn BC targeted athlete list, n a case by case basis, by cntacting the PSO/DSO Technical Representative. ATHLETE/COACH REGISTRATION Once the athlete r cach is nminated, he r she will be ntified by Badmintn BC and will be prvided with infrmatin n hw t register with his r her lcal Canadian Sprt Institute campus r PacificSprt reginal centre. A Canadian Sprt Institute r PacificSprt. Athletes and caches must register with their lcal centre in rder t receive athlete r cach supprt.

Athlete/Cach Nminatin Criteria 4 CORE CRITERIA 1. Fr PSO/DSO nminatins, athletes must be cnsidered in gd standing (at the discretin f the PSO/DSO) with Badmintn BC as a cmpetitive athlete and meet the definitin f a BC athlete. 2. In principle, all athletes nminated shuld have a designated cach wh is respnsible fr planned prgramming with the cach(es) s name and email identified n the targeted athlete list. 3. Athletes wh fail t meet targeting criteria due t injury r absence, may remain n Badmintn BC s nminatin list at cach s discretin when: a. There is an expectatin the athlete in questin wuld have met criteria if n injury r absence had ccurred. AND; b. The athlete in questin was previusly nminated by Badmintn BC in the previus 24 mnths. 4. Must have cmpeted in the BC Prvincial and Canadian Natinal Champinships in the previus year, unless exempted by Badmintn BC. Exemptins will be prcessed by the High Perfrmance Cmmittee (Excellence Wrking Grup). 5. Athlete must submit the fllwing dcuments: a. Cmpetitin plan (e.g. Yearly Training Plan) fr the current cmpetitin seasn. b. List f results fr the previus year, verified by the athlete s primary cach. Falsifying results may result in remval f status fr bth athlete and cach. c. True Sprt 101 Anti-dping Certificate (Canadian Develpment r higher ONLY) LEVEL-SPECIFIC CRITERIA Please nte bth the Canadian Sprt Institute criteria and the Badmintn BC sprt-specific criteria: Pdium / Canadian Elite (Sprt Canada AAP Carded) Canadian Sprt Institute Criteria: Athletes wh appear n the Sprt Canada AAP Carding List and verified by the NSO. These athletes are in the High Perfrmance (HP/T2W) stage f the Pdium Pathway. Canadian Develpment Canadian Sprt Institute Criteria: Athletes wh cmpete n the senir natinal team in eligible events, but d nt receive Sprt Canada AAP funding, and verified by the NSO. These athletes are in the High Perfrmance (HP/T2W) stage f the Pdium Pathway. OR; Athletes wh are in the HP Athlete Develpment (L2W/T2W) stage f the Pdium Pathway (including Gld Medal Prfile), and verified by the NSO. If the NSO des nt have an apprved Pdium Pathway, the fllwing criteria will be used:

Athlete/Cach Nminatin Criteria 5 Athletes wh have been targeted as Ht prspects defined as the expectatin t be selected t the senir natinal team in eligible events within 24 mnths, and verified by the NSO. Badmintn BC Sprt-Specific Criteria: Must meet at least ONE f the fllwing results: a. Member f the Senir Natinal Team b. Member f any Canadian Senir Natinal representative team c. Cmpeted at the BWF Wrld Champinships d. Internatinal Turnament Result Internatinal Series Winner (MS nly) Internatinal Challenge Winner (WS/MD/WD/XD) BWF Wrld Tur 100 & 300 Semifinalist r higher Additinal results t be assessed by Badmintn BC s High Perfrmance Cmmittee (Excellence Wrking Grup). e. Senir Natinal Champin f. (Age: 23+) #1 n the Senir Natinal Ranking list g. (Age: U-23) Senir Natinal Tp 2, OR; U-23 Natinal Champin, OR; Tp 3 n Senir Natinal Ranking list h. (Age: U-19) Senir Natinal Tp 4, OR; U-23 Natinal Tp 2, OR; Tp 5 n Senir Natinal Ranking list NOTE: Use ranking lists results between September 1 st and August 31 st f the fllwing year. Prvincial Develpment Level 1 Canadian Sprt Institute Criteria: Athletes wh are in the Athlete Identificatin & Develpment stage f the Pdium Pathway, and wh are tracking tward the HP Athlete Develpment stage accrding t the NSO-specific Pdium Pathway and Gld Medal prfile. If the NSO des nt have an apprved Pdium Pathway, the athlete must be tracking tward Canadian Develpment and meet ne f the tw criteria belw: Have cmpeted at the U23 r Junir Wrld Champinships in an eligible event (r equivalent internatinal develpmental event) in the past 24 mnths, OR; Have wn a medal in an eligible event at their Sprt-Specific Natinal Elite/Open, U23, r U19 Champinships (r equivalent level f perfrmance standard) in the previus 24 mnths. *Nte: Athletes wh are eligible fr Prvincial Develpment are typically supprted fr a maximum duratin f 5 years (cmbined Prvincial Develpment Level 1 and Level 2). Badmintn BC Sprt-Specific Criteria: Must meet at least ONE f the fllwing results:

Tp 2 Finish at the Cllege/University Natinal Champinships e. Tp 4 Finish at U23 Natinal Champinships* f. Tp 2 Finish at Junir Natinal Champinships g. Tp 8 n the Senir Natinal Ranking List h. Tp 4 n the (U17 r U19) Junir Natinal Ranking list i. Medal TWICE at a Badmintn Canada Elite Series event in past 12 mnths* Results d nt have t be in the same event j. Tp 2 Finish at the BC Prvincial Champinships *Fr small draw sizes, results must be in the tp HALF f the draw size (e.g. if draw size is 4, must finish in the tp 2). Additinally, results are nly cnsidered if a rund has been wn. Fr example, in a draw f 3, where ne player/team starts in the final, that team needs t win the turnament fr the result t be cnsidered. Hwever, if the draw is a rund rbin, results will be cunted fr the teams that place 1 st and 2 nd. NOTE: Use ranking lists results between September 1 st and August 31 st f the fllwing year. Prvincial Develpment Level 2 Canadian Sprt Institute Criteria: Athletes wh are in the Athlete Identificatin & Develpment stage f the Pdium Pathway, and wh are tracking tward Prvincial Develpment 1 accrding t the NSO-specific Pdium Pathway and Gld Medal prfile. If the NSO des nt have an apprved Pdium Pathway, the athlete must meet ne f the tw criteria belw: Cmpeted in an eligible event at the apprpriate age grup natinal champinships (r equivalent level f perfrmance standard) and/r place within the tp 20% at the apprpriate age grup prvincial champinships in the previus 12 mnths, OR; Cmpeted fr Team BC at Canada Summer Games r Canada Winter Games in the previus 12 mnths. Badmintn BC Sprt-Specific Criteria: Must meet at least ONE f the fllwing results: a. Tp 8 n (U17 r U19) Junir Natinal Ranking list b. Tp 4 n U15 Junir Natinal Ranking list c. Tp 4 Finish at the BC Prvincial Champinships* d. Tp 2 Finish TWICE n Badmintn BC Prvincial Circuit turnaments* Des nt have t be in the same event* *Fr small draw sizes, results must be in the tp HALF f the draw size (e.g. if draw size is 4, must finish in the tp 2). Additinally, results are nly cnsidered if a rund has been wn. Fr example, in a draw f 3, where ne player/team starts in the final, that team needs t win the turnament fr the result t be cnsidered. Athlete/Cach Nminatin Criteria 7 Cach Nminatin Canadian Sprt Institute Criteria: Caches are nminated by having his r her name included in the targeted athlete list when they are the cach f an athlete wh achieves designated criteria. The PSO/DSO may nminate up t tw caches per athlete in cases where bth the Prvincial/Natinal cach and a persnal cach have a significant impact n the athlete s training prgram. While nt required, it is highly recmmended that PSO/DSO nminated caches meet at least ne f the fllwing criteria: Be the lead persn designing and implementing an annual training prgram fr the athlete. Be designated as Prvincial r Reginal cach by the PSO/DSO. Be designated as a Natinal Develpment / Senir Natinal cach by the NSO. Be designated as athlete s cach f recrd based n sprt-specific criteria belw. Badmintn BC Sprt-Specific Criteria: (Optinal): Registered as a cach with Badmintn BC and/r Badmintn Canada, AND; At least ONE f the fllwing: Active badmintn cach with NCCP Cmpetitin Develpment Certificatin r higher Cached at a Team BC event in the past calendar year (e.g. Canada Winter Games) Cached at the BC Games in the past calendar year Recently retired athlete that have been n the Canadian Natinal Team within the previus 5 years n track t be NCCP Cmpetitin Develpment Certified r higher Minimum Prvincial Cach Trained & addressing NCCP Prfessinal Develpment (PD) units annually

Athlete/Cach Nminatin Criteria 8 APPENDIX 1 Sprt-Specific Benefits, Prgrams, and Services Badmintn BC Targeted Athlete/Cach Benefits, Prgrams, and Services Badmintn BC Targeted Athletes and Caches will receive pririty access t high perfrmance services frm Badmintn BC, including access t camps, training grups, and additinal athlete services ffered by members frm the Excellence Wrking Grup (High Perfrmance Cmmittee). Additinally, targeted athletes will have better access t funding as perfrmance results fr funding will share many elements f the Targeted Athlete List criteria.
