THE ADDO ELEPHANT CYCLE CHARGE If you ve got fire in your belly and adventure in your heart... then the Addo Region Cycle Charge is for you. This 200 kilometre tour from Darlington Dam via the Bedrogfontein Mountain Pass to the Addo Main Camp, is 5 days and 5 nights of trail-blazing through Big Five Country on Jeep and Single Track Routes, with spectacular scenery and amazing sightings guaranteed. The challenge is to ride approximately 30-50km daily. This tour will be available in either May 2019 or September 2019

RIDE ARRANGEMENTS Check in for the ride at the Addo Elephant National Park Main Camp with your hosts, the SANParks Honorary Rangers Addo Region. 2. Transfers to and from the Port Elizabeth airport can be arranged at an extra cost. 3. During the ride, private vehicles will remain safely at the Main Addo Camp. 4. Participants and their bicycles will be transported to the Darlington Dam to spend the first night under the stars after an awesome bush supper. 5. The ride begins after breakfast, accompanied by armed Rangers and an emergency medical crew. A light lunch and water will be supplied along the route. 6. Every afternoon you will arrive at the bush camp for the night and enjoy a fine meal and relaxing evening activities before resting those weary bodies. 7. The following day presents the next stage, another challenge, and a similar routine for the next 4 days. Accommodation before and after can be arranged at the Addo Elephant National Park for those arriving early or staying on after the ride ends. BIKE & SKILL LEVEL BICYCLES It is essential that riders start the ride with a well serviced and prepared bicycle. There will be a back-up vehicle to pick up riders who cannot continue. Bike recommendations: Intermediate - good level mountain bike with front shocks. FITNESS LEVELS AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS Ensuring you are participating in a ride that s right for you and are ready for the physical and technical demands of the ride, is of utmost importance. It helps ensure that you will be riding with people of similar skill level and won t be holding up the group or be held up by others - and can ride at the pace you want to ride at. An intermediate skill level is recommended for this ride: You will be riding at a controlled speed on a mellow single track terrain with trees, mud, loose rocks and sand. Make sure you are comfortable and confident rolling over small obstacles like root, rocks and small rubble drops. Make sure you are comfortable and balanced standing up off your seat and can maintain level pedals for a descent and are comfortable in using your front and rear brakes when required. Suggested fitness level: average fitness will cope, but the fitter you are, the more you will enjoy this ride. Riders must be prepared for 5 days of moderate to demanding mountain biking.

THE FINER DETAILS INCLUDED IN THE PACKAGE 5 x nights of bush camp tented accommodation under the stars. Each rider gets their own tent and bed pre-erected at each bush camp. All bush camps include a shower and toilet. Delicious meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Beverages provided, including light alcoholic drinks. Free transfer from Addo Main Camp to Darlington. Guest speakers each evening and entertainment activities available each night. Armed Rangers and a medical emergency crew available. *Please take note: Our food is sourced and made locally thus making it difficult to cater for individual requirements but please don t hesitate to contact us and make us aware of any major special dietary requirements. NOT INCLUDED IN THE PACKAGE Flights to and from Addo Elephant National Park. Accommodation before and after the completion of the ride. Mountain bike, spares and maintenance support. Personal expenses e.g. laundry, curios, telephone and internet services etc. There are no provisions for massage staff along this route. RULES A minimum of 8 people are required to attend this ride. Should we not meet this requirement the ride will be cancelled. This will be finalized 4 weeks prior to the ride Each person will be required to sign an Indemnity at registration before the ride commences. COST R15 000 per person, including VAT.
