The Official Newsletter of the Dusters RC Club Meeting Notes Dusters News March 2015 ISSUE Meeting, Cont. The February meeting of the Dusters was called to order at 7 PM on Monday, the 23 of February in the year of our lord, 2015. There were 10 members present, a significant number as it was then reported that e have 33 members paid for the 2015 modeling year. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved and the treasurer revealed we are unusually solvent. Under old business, Chris reported that website improvement was still being developed and would have more to report by the next meeting. AMA sanctioning for the Bigger Bird event has been submitted and Steve Stricker reported that that he was having some trouble getting our ad on to various web sites but was still working on it. Under new business, Bill Bale asked for some assistance replacing the blades on the mower. He will keep an eye on the weather and post a call for volunteers when he is ready. Bill also reported that this will be his last year as the club field marshal. We will be looking for his replacement, be it an individual or perhaps set up a rotating schedule or some other innovation that will somehow keep the field close to the condition that Bill has managed in his time on the job. Bill Bale, shown recently at the field with his latest airplane. Looks like he had the field all to himself and by all reports, the little Duster was a great flying airplane!! The March meeting of the Dusters will be held at the shop of Jim Robb, Monday, the 23 rd of March. Bill also asked for some loppers to eliminate a growing threat of blackberries on the edge of the field. Crossbow and loppers will arrive for Bill, who finished his report with the statement that our gophers were under control. That concluded the business portion of the meeting this night Red Ticket winner was Roger Misterik White Ticket winner was, fittingly, Bill Bale. New Windsock at Duster field, with special thanks to Dick Trost for his donation

Hi Everyone! The Official Newsletter of the Dusters RC Club Pg 2 The scale competition season is almost ready to start in the Pacific North West! In case you haven't visited the NWSAM or USSMA sites or heard it though the grapevine...here's the North West regional scale competition calendar: 1. May 29-31: Sanderson Field Scale Rally, Shelton, WA. This is the first year for this event and replaces the Cascade Scale Rally that was lost due to unfortunate problems with the field in Snohomish. 2. June 19-21: Northern Idaho Scale Qualifier, Athol, ID. 3. July 11-12: Oregon Scale Fly-In & USSMA Challenge, North Plains, OR. A reminder that this is a two day event and a combined scale fun fly and qualifier. Competition and fun fly pilots must to be willing to share the air under control of an air boss. 4. July 17-19: British Columbia Scale Classic, Vernon, British Columbia. 5. August 13-16: Wenatchee Scale Rally & North West Scale Championships, Wenatchee, WA. The premier event in the Pacific North West! Please note that due to the popularity of this event it has expanded to 4 days. This is two contests rolled up into one. It's a USSMA Qualifier as well as the NWSAM Regional Championships. As well as qualifying for the USSMA National Championships and winning the North West Scale Championships, top finishers can also earn an invitation to the NASA National Scale Classic and Top Gun! Plan to be there now! October 8-11: USSMA National Championships, Monaville Texas. This year's national contest will be at Bomber Field in Monaville, TX, about 30 minutes drive outside of Houston. By being in Texas this year, USSMA will start to rebuild having three regions for the Champs: West Coast, Central, and East With this back in place USSMA should start to see contestants from all parts of the country be able to participate in a National Contest and re-build scale interest and participation throughout the country. There's one very important rule change for 2015 USSMA Qualifiers. The minimum number of points for qualification has changed. Points required to qualify are: 1. Expert - 180 2. Team - 180 3. Advanced - 175 4. Pro-Am Pro - 90 (Static score now 5 pts) Pro-Am- Sportsman- 90 (Static score now 5 pts) The "one third rule" still applies. At a minimum, one third of the contestants will qualify for the championships, regardless of point total. Visit the NWSAM site at http://www.nwsam.org/ and/or the USSMA site at http:// www.usscalemasters.org/ for more info. The 2015 Competition Guide and details for the USSMA Champs haven't been posted yet...hopefully USSMA will have them posted soon. Get those models ready! And remember...if it's not scale, it's just a toy Scott Enochs NWSAM Northern Oregon Coordinator & USSMA Oregon Area Director
