Introduction Calibration seems to be quite simple but many have experienced that proper calibration is quite complex. Complex instrumentation, ranges, accuracy, uncertainty, traceability, certificates, test set-up calibration software and results are only some of the many subjects which an instrumentation engineer who calibrates encounters during his daily job. Sufficient knowledge regarding principles and fundamentals about calibration is necessary to calibrate in the proper way. The same knowledge is also required to interpretate the measuring results in the right way and make the right conclusions. This helps to take the appropriate actions as a result of that. If this fundamental knowlegde is lacking, the quality of your measurements will not be ensured. This most likely will result in a decrease in profit and production yield, a decrease of safety and increase of energy consumption and waste disposal. Bad calibration performance will increase of chances for hazardous situations and disasters being a serious threat for the enviroment and even human lives. Tradinco Instruments, founded in 1963, has developed itself over the years as the calibration specialist and turned calibration into an ART. We share our 50 + years of experience and know-how with our customers to improve their calibration performance. We conduct dedicated training courses for calibration in the process industry for many years. Courses regarding principles and fundamentals, proper use of instrumentation, calibration managements, safety, and so on and so forth. In close co-operation with our customer, the specific content can be fine tuned to the knowledge level of the attendants and your specific challenges. The location of the course is your descision. It can be done at a central location in your country, in your plant or training center, or at our training center in the Netherlands With this brochure, a brief overview of the various courses and possibilities is provided Combinations of courses are possible as well. If you are looking for a way to optimize your calibrations and reduces costs, downtime, product loss, safety issues and increase product quality the Tradinco courses is what you are looking for. 09/2016 page : 3
The art of Calibration This course provides the attendants a severe basic knowledge of most common aspects of calibrations, related to the calibration of process instrumentation such as transmitters, gauges switches with digital or analogue reference standards Intended for: Each engineer who is daily involved in calibration such as calibration engineers, trouble shooting and maintenenance engineers, instrumentation engineers, quality engineers, production engineers and all other technicians who are looking for a dedicated training course which will improve there calibration performance During the theoretical part of the course, the attendent will become familiar with all aspect of calibration. Next to this, a significant part will be addressed to hands-on training where the attendant will perform calibrations on his own and will get aquainted with the management and interpretation of the calibration data Some of the topics Why calibrate, explanation of defintions Traceability, accuracy, uncertainty calibration in a processplant calibration requirements, management, recalibration frequency quality systems, ISO17025, certificates. 09/2016 page : 4
Calibration Management This course provides the attendant a clear insight how to set up and manage his calibration duties. Intended for: Management or supervisors operating in the area of quality, production, maintenance, E& I, Measurement and Control departments Step by step, the principles, structure, setting up and managment of the calibration organization will be discussed in details This is an interactive course where the current situation and system of the customer will be discussed in order to define and improve the calibration management in general Some of the topics : What is the use of calibrating in a process environment What is required to acheive a good calibration performance How many times do I need to recalibrate my reference standards How to register and organize the result. What requirements are applicable for a calibration certificate How to manage recalibration. 09/2016 page : 5
Calibration Instruments After this course the attendants will have obtained severe knowledge of the use and operation of calibration Instruments, dedicated to their specific purpose and applications. Intended for: Specifically for technicians and engineers who are involved and responsible for defining and selecting of the most suitable calibration Instruments and Set-up. This course will look in detail in to your specific situation and operation. What criteria are applicable for the calibration Instruments in order to be suitable for your applications. Why is one type of instrument not suitable and others are. Which ranges and accuracies are needed and how to define this. Some of the topics: - Basics of Calibration. - Define functional specifications - Accuracy and range related to the applications. - Types of Instruments. - Investment and maintenance costs. - Calibrate in the plant or in the workshop. 09/2016 page : 6
Proper use of instrumentation A lot will improve when you know all about the funtionality of the Instruments you have and how the best way to use it. Proper use and maintenance will also increaese the lifetime of the instruments. Intended for: Instrumentation and service technicians who are working with high quality and acccurate Instruments. This course is also most suitable for new graduates who never or hardly ever worked with these kind of Instruments The course will be dedicated to the all the ins and outs, do en don ts of the instruments you are using The attendants will learn all about the fucntionality of the instrument and how the use it in the best way. After the course, the attendant will do their daily tasks faster and with improved quality. Some of the topics: - Basic principles of the Instruments - Functionality - Optimum use, do s and dont s. - What instrument to use for which applications - Maintenance - Recalibration frequency 09/2016 page : 7
AutoCal Kalibratie Management software The functionality of the AutoCal Calibration management software offers a significant advantage to improve your quality, profit, and decrease costs, provided the users will understand and know how to use and operate this in the best way. After the course, the attendants have learned to use the full functionality and possibilities of this powerful software package Intended for AutoCal software users and IT supervisors The user will get an indepth view of calibration in general and in the software specifically. They will learn to understand the philosophy of how the software is designed and developed en will know how to use it in his daily operations. What procedures must be considered, what information is required how to use the software to it s optimum are questions which will be adressed during the course Some of the topics: Calibration definitions and principles in AutoCal Creating and management of calibration data Reporting and certificates Password and protection Preventative maintenance 09/2016 page : 8
Dead-Weight Testers and AutoCal Primary standards are widely used for more accurate measurements and/or to calibrate less accurate calibration instruments. However these primary standards are not very friendly and one must take various parameters and conditions into consideration. AutoCal Software in combination with these standards can improve the userfriendliness and efficiency. Attendants will learn the use these high accurate reference standards in the best way. Intended for: All technicians who require to operate these reference standards. Some of the topics: Theory and principles of a deadweight tester Pistons and weight sets Influence of gravity and head Calibration procedures Maintenance and recalibration Using AutoCal Calibration Software with Dead-Weight Testers 09/2016 page : 9
Safety: Working in a E&I or maintenance workshop requires a high level of safety awareness. Pneumatic pressure, hydraulic pressures, electrical tests, Cables and wires, all can turn into all kind of hazardous situations if one is not aware of the possible danger. Intended for All technicians working in an E&I or maintenance workshop The user will understand the risks of working with pressure, doing electrical testing, loose cables and wiring and will know how to recognize dangerous situations, take the right actions and determine preventative actions to avoid these in the future Some of the topics: Pneumatic pressure Hydraulic pressure Connections, tubing, piping and material Electrical saftey Suitable testleads Organizing your workshop 09/2016 page : 10
General: Course duration: Commonly, each course will take one working day. If required, we can combine various course in to a complete training for multiple days, Number of attendees We recommend to limit the number of attendees in order to achieve the best results. For course where hands-on practice are part of the course, we limit the number to a maximum of 4 attendants Other general courses can be attendant by large numbers. Location The location is your decision. This can be in your training centre, in the workshop, meeting room or any suitable area in your plant, city, country. Also the courses can be conducted at Tradinco Instruments in the Netherlands Certificate Each attendant will get, after succesful completion of the course, a certificate, clearly stating the content of the course and what goals have been achieved.
