The serial number is entered on the first page of these instructions for use. Use an inventory number for this product. Enter the inventory number in the test protocol. 2 USE Activities requiring the use of this product can be dangerous. Follow the safety instructions and, in case of doubt or if you have problems of comprehension, contact our customer service. Keep this protect away from sharp edges, welding sparks, fire, chemicals, oils, acids etc. Elaborate a rescue plan indicating the course and execution of rescue measures. Always wear proper clothes and shoes. Always use protective plates with sharp edges. Never descend through fire or smoke! Make sure that the fall area is free from obstacles and that, in case of a fall, you don t hit the ground. 2.1 Intended use This product may only be used for its intended purposes as defined in these instructions for use. This product may only be used in combination with tested and certified components. Other combinations are not permitted and can be dangerous. This product should only be used in combination with products which are recommended by MARK Save A Life and bear the CE marking. You may only use this product if you are physically and mentally capable of doing so and if you have undergone training in the use of this product. Open the buckle. Open the zip. Step into the overall with both arms and legs. Close the zip. Close the buckle. Hook the carabiner into the D-rings and secure it (twist lock). Adjust the overall to the right size (rule of thumb: you can put 2 fingers between the straps and your body). Store the straps in the strap tunnels. This product may be used 2.1.3 according to EN 1497 as a rescue harness 2.1.4 according to EN 813 as a sit harness 2.1.3 according to EN 1497 as a safety harness 2.2 Lifetime and period of use The maximum lifetime of this product is 10 years from the date of manufacture. Extreme use conditions, harsh environments, contamination, damage, unsafe storage and transport may influence the period of use of this product. If you are not sure if this product can be used safely, do not use it. This product should be used by one person only. If this product is being used by more persons, the overall must be adjusted to the respective size. 2.1.1 Before first use Check if this product is OK and ready for use (see Inspection). Adjust the straps to your size (rule of thumb: you can put 2 fingers between the straps and your body). 6 use use 7

3 overview, scope of delivery and technical details 3.1 Overview Store and transport this product at room temperature and keep it away from pressure, chemicals and light. Keep this product dry. Store and transport this product in its original packaging. 5 maintenance chest belt buckle D-ring If stored correctly and not used, this product can have a maximum lifetime of 10 years. However, conditions of use and other factors may influence its useful life. You may therefore even have to repair or retire this product after only one use. Failure to observe this information may result in early wear out of this product. 8 OVERVIEW, TRANSPORT AND STORAGE 5.2 Cleaning Clean the straps with a soft brush (wet or dry) using mild soap and warm water. Wash the overall turned inside-out in a washing bag (40 C) in the washing machine and then rinse it with clear water. Air-dry this product in an airy, shaded place. Never tumble-dry, never let it dry in the sun or over a heat source. Iron this product at 1 point only. Never iron the straps. Never use chemical detergents. 5.3 Disinfection This product must not be disinfected. 6 Inspection 6.1 Visual and function inspection Inspection is only valid under the proviso that this product has not been subjected to a major load, components of this product have not been modified, textile parts have not been contaminated with chemicals, this product has not been subjected to temperatures under -40 C or over +80 C. The inspection has to be carried out by a competent person. MARK Save A Life offers trainings for that purpose (see 2.3). 6.1.1 What has to be tested? Are metal parts (housing, carabiner etc.) damaged? Is the zip jammed? Is the fabric damaged (holes etc.)? Are the straps damaged? Are the seams damaged? If, according to the inspection, the use of this product does not seem safe anymore, send it in for repair or retire it. Do not use it! 6.2 Inspection before the first use Check this product before its first use for damage (see 6.1.1). Perform a suspension test (put on the overall, adjust it to the right size, hook it to an anchor device and suspend). 6.2 Inspection before and after each use Always inspect this product before and after each use 8 (see 6.1.1). 6.3 Inspection once a year, but anyhow after max. 2,000m 6.4 Test protocol The test protocol is on the last page of these instructions for use and is available for download at www.savealife.at Fill in the test protocol carefully. Always keep these instructions for use incl. the test protocol with the product. 7 Retirement MARK Save A Life cares about our environment. We strive to manufacture our products in an environmentally friendly way and would like our customers to consider our environment when using and retiring this product. 7.1 When do you have to retire this product? You have to retire this product if the manufacturer or a competent person has stated that the use is not safe anymore. 7.2 How do you retire this product? Retire the product in such a way that it cannot be used anymore (e.g. through cutting it). Retire this product in an environmentally friendly way. 8 Resale You may only resell this product with these instructions for use and the test protocol. The instructions for use and the test protocol are available for download at www.savealife.at. You must provide a translation of these instructions for use and the test protocol in the official language of the buyer. Serial / lot number Purchased on Seller First used on Inventory number 9.1 Suspension trauma In case of a fall or a longer descent blood circulation can be hampered and a so called suspension trauma (orthostatic shock) can occur. A suspension trauma can have lifelong detrimental effects on your health and even lead to death. 9.1.1 How do you know it is a suspension trauma? Inspections have to be performed at least once a year by a competent person. Kick one foot with the other. Point the toes. However, this exercise will keep the blood circulation going for a short time only. 9.1.3 Which first aid measures can you initiate? Call the ambulance. Lower the casualty. Keep the casualty sitting up or squatting. Open straps and tight clothes. Get the casualty into a horizontal position slowly.
