Frederick News October 12, 2018 New After School Pick-Up Procedure Please see the attached letter and map This week, our busses began using the newly striped East Lot for afternoon loading. All bus riders depart the school through the set of doors on the east side of the building. Next week, parent pickup will remain the same in the front, until we have time to get the West Lot newly striped (scheduled Oct 20 & 21). Students who are car riders or walk, will dismiss out their usual doors on the north side of the building. Starting October 22 nd, all parent pickup will be in the Main West Lot. Box Tops & Pennies The Frederick PTO is planning to run a BoxTop/Penny War Competition the week of October 15th to 19th. 5th grade homerooms will compete against each other and 6th grade homerooms will compete against each other. They will be trying to score the most points based on the following: Boxtops will be worth 10 points each Pennies will be worth 1 point each Sabotoge Twist: Silver coins will subtract points from other homerooms as follows: Nickels will subtract 5 points Dimes will subtract 10 points Quarters will subtract 25 points Winning homeroom will be the homeroom with the most points at the end of the week and will earn an activity freetime for their homeroom. Please send in BoxTops and loose change with your child to help with our fundraiser. There will also be surprise twists throughout the week such as 2x Points Day or 2x Sabotage Day and a Mystery Day.

Calling All Veterans... We want to honor YOU! On Monday, November 12th, we are hosting our annual Veterans Day assembly and are asking all veterans to join us. If you, a family member, friend or neighbor have served in the Armed Forces, please plan to be here and be recognized for your service. We would love for you to attend our assembly from 9:00-10:00 AM and stay for the refreshments and to chat with the kids. Please RSVP to me at detweiler.eric@d46.org so we can get a general headcount. Please wear your uniform if possible! In addition, attached to this newsletter is an information form for students to share information about a service man or woman they know. This could be a family member, friend, neighbor, We would love to add more to our Wall of Heroes in our MultiPurpose Room. Sock & Book Drive We have a Frederick staff member who spends much of his free time helping the students in the Woodlawn Elementary School Area. He shared that in the cold winter months the students were coming to read without any warm socks on their feet. Frederick is looking to help him with his mission by holding a sock and book drive. The students are in grades K-3. We would like to collect new socks and gently used or new books. There will be a collection box in room 514. Spirit Day Next Friday 10/19 we will be having a student and staff spirit day with the theme being Grayslake Central or Grayslake North. That Friday night is the annual crosstown high school football game hosted by Grayslake North this year. We encourage all students to wear any Grayslake Central or North spirit wear that day. This is always a fun and friendly event for our students.
