Begin Paper Piecing Myrna $75 (Includes Pattern) Saturday, August 26 and Sunday, August 27 10:00 am 4:00 pm Have you heard the term machine paper piecing or foundation piecing and wondered what it is? Have you seen numbered patterns in books and magazines, and wondered how to use them? Have you seen perfect patchwork and wondered how to get those results? If you answered yes to any of these questions, this is the class for you. Learn how to machine paper piece blocks quickly and easily by constructing a lovely mariner s compass. Note that a beginner class such as this one is required for more advanced classes requiring paper piecing. Join Kim for this two-day workshop where you will practice several approaches to preparing and stitching appliqué shapes. Sisters Ten Sampler Leslie $170 (Book Purchase Required) Fridays: October 13, 20, & 27; November 3; and December 1 5:00 pm 10:00 pm This modern traditional sampler blends the best of both worlds, and allows you to learn various piecing methods. You will learn ten sampler blocks and make them twice, switching up the fabrics used in each to give a totally different look. Arabesque Myrna $140 Prep: Friday, November 17 6:30 pm 9:00 pm Saturday, November 25 & Sunday, November 26 & Saturday, January 6 10:00 am 4:00 pm If you love the look of this modern quilt design but are intimidated by all the angles and points, this is the class for you. Using foundation paper piecing and the techniques taught in this class, the Arabesque quilt comes together beautifully. The class instruction will walk the students through managing large foundation papers, accurately matching points, and calculating sizes for fabric pieces. This is an intermediate to advanced foundation paper piecing class. Please Note: Previous foundation piecing experience is a requirement for this project. Bowls, Bowls, Bowls Kim $45 (Pattern Purchase Required) Wednesdays: November 29 and December 6 10:30 am 1:30 pm Has it always been your goal to create your own bowl to stash those trinkets near and dear to your soul! Join us for this technique class where you will learn to cover clothesline or Bosal Duet Fuse II and sculpt with your sewing machine to make a bowl or two. Page 2

Catch-Up with Roxanne Roxanne $55 Sunday, September 17 10:00 a.m. 4:00 p.m. Here's your chance for more assistance on your project with Roxanne. Class is open to either Portrait or Pictorial students from present or past years' classes. NOTE: Portraits or Pictorial Quilting class is a prerequisite for this catch-up class. You must have taken one of these classes previously. Farm Girl Vintage Club Leslie $110 (Book Purchase Required) Saturdays: September 23, October 21, November 4, December 2, and January 6 4:30 pm 10:30 pm From the Farm Girl Vintage book by Lori Holt, participants will work in a club format through the 45 Farm Girl blocks in either the 6 or 12 size. Additional blocks of barns and tractors, and various settings are an option for each participant to personalize their final quilt. All blocks are pieced, and some use simple embroidery stitches for details. Selection of fabrics for each block individualizes the process, and makes everyone s quilt unique. If you do not wish to work from stash, fabric fat eighth bundles are available to purchase for the backgrounds and prints. Hexie Pineapple Kim $85 Saturdays, September 23 & November 4, and Sunday, November 19 10:00 am 2:00 pm Explore colour and value as we learn to use the Creative Grids Hexagon Trim Tool to sew a stunning no-fuss pineapple quilt. Machine Quilting 2-Day Extended Version Lorraine Stangness $145 Saturday, January 20 and Sunday, January 21 10:00 am 4:30 pm Never tackled a machine-quilted project or want to improve your skills? A little afraid of the words free motion? With Lorraine s extensive experience in all facets of machine quilting, she will share with you her many tricks of the trade, along with simple exercises and suggestions to give you confidence to try various techniques. Note: Due to student feedback requesting more practice time, we are offering the 2-Day extended version of Lorraine s Machine Quilting one-day class. Page 3

Modern Club Kim $110 (Book/Pattern Purchase Required) Saturdays: September 9, October 14, November 18, December 9, and January 13 4:30 pm 10:30 pm Tuesdays: September 12, October 10, November 14, December 12, and January 9 10:00 am 4:00 pm Due to popular demand, our club scope is expanding! The Modern Club's project list includes Tula Pink's 100 Modern Quilt Blocks, Tula Pink's Butterfly Quilt, and/or any of Jen Kingwell's patterns. Kim will guide participants on an individual or group basis as they sew their favorite pattern(s). Please note: This club has a limited enrolment of 10 participants per session comprising of both new and past enrollees, so register early. Niemeyer Club Michele $110 (Pattern Purchase Required) Saturdays: September 30, October 28, November 25, December 16, and January 27 4:30 pm 10:30 pm The Niemeyer Club focuses on foundation paper piecing patterns by celebrated designer, Judy Niemeyer (www.quiltworx.com). Tarnished Windmills is a wall-size quilt, and features curved piecing and a strip-pieced lone star. Red River Star is a queen-sized version of Tarnished Windmills. Neither have any "Y" seams. This class is for those new to paper piecing and those wanting to learn more. Either pattern you choose will give you a stunning quilt. The instructor, Michele, has taken numerous classes from Judy and has completed 12 of her patterns. Michele is training to be a certified instructor of Judy's patterns. Note: Previous foundation (paper) piecing experience is NOT a requirement. Please note: This club has a limited enrolment of 10 participants per session, so register early. Rise Up Club Kim $110 (Book/Pattern Purchase Required) Fridays: September 8, October 13, November 3, December 8, and January 12 10:00 am 4:00 pm Sundays: September 10, October 15, November 5, December 10, and January 14 10:00 am 4:00 pm The "Rise Up" club is for those participants looking for a challenge. This session we will be adding a new pattern to the selection of possible projects participants can work on. Northern Wilderness by Northern Threads Designs is our newest challenge, but participants are welcome to work instead on Dreamcatcher by Laundry Basket Quilts or The Loyal Union Sampler (121 six" blocks) by Jennifer Chiaverini. Each offers many learning opportunities: fabric selection and value decisions, accurate piecing, working with templates, paper piecing, and applique. Please note: This club has a limited enrolment of 10 participants per session comprising of both new and past enrollees, so register early. Sewing Machines 101 Allan Emerson $40 Saturday, September 16 (2 hour classes) 10:00 am 12:00 pm 1:00 pm 3:00 pm 4:00 pm 6:00 pm Knowledge is power, and knowing how a sewing machine operates and how to maintain it can save you lots of anguish and exasperation. In this class, Allan will cover: Basic sewing machine lingo. How to perform basic maintenance on your machine. Learn how to troubleshoot problems with your machine. Learn the differences of needles and which needle to use for the purpose and fabric/thread being used. Learn how to adjust tension and bring tension back to base. Urbanologie Leslie $205 (Pattern Purchase Required) Sundays: September 24, October 22, December 3, January 7, February 4 & 25 10:00 am 3:00 pm Find joy in picking your fabrics and sewing the individual blocks in this delightful sampler quilt with a modern feel. This quilt will get you out of the half-square and quarter-square triangle box and into fun curves using the mini Quick Curve Ruler. Page 5

Walking Foot Quilting Linda Hurd $125 Saturday, August 19 and Sunday, August 20 10:00 am 4:00 pm Saturday, September 30 and Sunday, October 1 10:00 am 4:00 pm Thursday, October 5 and Friday, October 6 10:00 am 4:00 pm Move beyond stitch in the ditch. Come and explore the simple elegant designs and texture of walking foot quilting on your domestic machine. In this class, students will: - Explore various geometric designs (linear, circles and grids). - Learn how to adjust built-in machine stitches to use as quilting stitches. - Learn to adapt free-motion quilting designs for walking foot quilting. - Learn how to transfer designs. - The order of quilting for best results. Note: Due to student feedback requesting more time, we are now offering this 2-day extended version of Linda's class. Waiting List Information If a class you would like to take is full, please ask to be placed on our waiting/interest list. Please be aware that classes are scheduled according to classroom and instructor availability. Private Lessons Would you like to learn, but your hours don t match ours? Do you have a project that you have avoided and need assistance through? Private lessons are available to help you learn. What to Bring For our classes you will require your own sewing machine - which should be in good working order - and your own sewing supplies and tools. In our classroom we have ironing boards and irons which are shared with other students. A supply list will be available for your class which will outline the supplies, fabric requirements, and any pre-cutting needed. Please ensure you pick this supply list up in plenty of time to prepare for your first class. Page 6

Class Registration/Cancellation Policy Participants may register for classes by paying for the class in full either at the store or via telephone with appropriate credit card information (Visa or MasterCard). All classes at Along Came Quilting require adequate registration numbers in order to run. If a class has inadequate registration numbers, the store will notify participants seven (7) days prior to the day of the scheduled class. If Along Came Quilting cancels a class, participants will receive a refund by gift certificate or cash. There are no refunds via credit or debit card. If, for any reason, a participant cannot participate in a class for which s/he has registered, a refund will be issued providing notice is given to Along Came Quilting seven (7) days prior to the first class. Participants will receive a refund by gift certificate or cash. If less than seven (7) days notice is provided, a refund will be issued only if the spot can be filled by another participant, and the refund will only be made by gift certificate. There are no refunds via credit or debit card. Partial refunds and/or free make-up classes are not provided. Participants are asked to confirm with the store that the class has met the minimum participation requirements prior to purchasing books, patterns, supplies and/or fabrics. Page 7

Quilt Alongs These open workshops allow attendees to bring in any project*, and receive instruction/guidance from an in-class staff instructor to bring about successful completion. This inquiry-based setting is guided by the participant s requirements with everyone working at their own pace. These are an excellent opportunity for class attendees who would like more time and instruction to finish their projects. (Note, each person has their own table.) *See Policies below schedule. In fairness to all staff and our teachers, we would also appreciate that you not teach any of our classes to your friends in a Quilt Along. Cancellation by Along Came Quilting: All Quilt Alongs at Along Came Quilting require adequate registration numbers in order to run. If a Quilt Along has inadequate registration, the store will notify participants two (2) days prior to the day of their scheduled session (see 2-Day Notification below). Notification six (6) two (2) days prior: If, for any reason, a participant cannot attend a Quilt Along for which s/he has registered and calls and cancels between six (6) and two (2) days prior to the day of the scheduled session (see 2-Day Notification below), s/he will receive a refund by gift certificate. Notification less than two (2) days prior: No refunds will be given; however, we always appreciate the notification. Sewcial Registration/Cancellation Policy Participants can register for Sewcials by paying in full either at the store or via telephone with appropriate credit card information (Visa or MasterCard). In fairness to all staff and our teachers, we would appreciate that you not teach any of our classes to your friends in a Sewcial. Cancellation by Along Came Quilting: Sewcials do not require minimum registration numbers in order to run. Therefore, they will not be cancelled, unless there are extenuating circumstances in which Along Came Quilting must do so. In the unlikely event this occurs, participants will receive a refund by gift certificate or cash. There are no refunds via credit or debit card. Cancellation by Participant: Once you have purchased the spot, you own it. So please make sure you can come before you pay. There are no holds on spots without payment. No refunds or transfers to another date or class will be given regardless of the reason or the amount of notice time provided. However, we always appreciate the notification. Please feel free to send a friend in your place. Miscellaneous: There are a maximum number of participants. Tables cannot be split, so that 2 people or more can share one registration fee, or in order to allow more participants. Each person pays the full registration fee, and is entitled to their own table. Only one person per table per registration. Page 12
