STANLEY PARK HIGH Ski Trip 2019 Alpendorf Austria Ski Amade
Staffing Mr Houghton - Trip Leader Miss Rudd - Deputy Trip leader Mr Haines Miss Carter
The Tour Company Our trip is booked with IBT. We will be accompanied by an IBT staff member during the time we spend in Austria. Insurance is covered by the school/ local authority insurance. Students do not need their own insurance.
Hotel This family-run hotel is situated Hallein at the edge of the town center. The cosy rooms, featuring a mix of contemporary decor and wood furnishings, come with wood floors, free Wi-Fi and flat-screen TVs. Some have desks and/or sitting areas. The hotel will be providing us with a buffet breakfast and an evening meal. Students will buy lunch on the slopes.
Where are we going? Salzburger Sportwelt is a ski resort in Austria which is part of the Ski Amade ski area. It gives us access to 9 different ski areas and offers a huge variety of skiing.
Staffing Each days skiing will start at the meeting area - the Kreisten-Alm restaurant. From there beginners will start off on the gentle slope beside the restaurant whilst the intermediate and advanced groups take the warm up run down to the Buchau gondola to whisk them to the top of the Gernkogel mountain from where they can explore the several hundred kms of piste.

Departure Friday 15th February Friday is an inset day. Students will need to arrive at school at 15:45 (TBC). This will give staff time to collect in passports, EHIC, medication and any money that you would like staff to hold. Students should travel in their ski trip hoody. Students will need to bring a packed dinner (no energy drinks) and money for any extra food or snacks. Your child will need sterling and euros available for the journey (change for the toilet). Our first meal will be provided in the hotel on the Saturday evening. Therefore students will need money for breakfast and lunch on the Saturday. Think about comfort on the coach. We will be sleeping on it, loose warm clothes should be worn along with appropriate footwear on the coach as we will be stopping and getting off in a snowy environment. It is a long journey I suggest bringing a pillow to try and get some sleep and a book. Everyone should have a bag to bring onto the coach. Please ensure you pack a pair of ski socks in this luggage. Ski jackets should also be brought onto the coach rather than put in luggage.
Packing Ski wear Sallopettes and jacket Base layers vests, t-shirts, fleece or jumper, leggings, long johns (layering is key to keeping warm). Ski gloves and socks (more than one pair!) Hat and Scarf / ski snood Ski goggles- essential in case of poor conditions It is easier to wear more thin layers so you can control your body temperature more easily.
Clothing and Footwear Sensible warm clothing A towel! Appropriate Swimwear Don t forget lip balm and sun block Footwear- shoes that are sensible for walking in the snow, slippers/ sliders for in the hotel, trainers. IF YOU CAN T CARRY YOUR OWN BAG YOU HAVE PACKED TOO MUCH!
Spending Money Pupils will need spending money for lunches, souvenirs, and food for both the journeys. Pupils do not need to bring more than 200. Pupils can keep their own money for safe keeping or bank it with their group leader. If banking money with a teacher please split the money into 6 amounts and place in 6 separate envelopes (one for each day) labelled with pupil s name and amount on it.
Medication Any prescription medication including asthma pumps are to be handed in to the pupils group leader on day of departure asthma pumps should also be carried by a pupil as well. 1 pump for the pupil, 1 for the teacher. Please provide medication in transparent bags that are clearly marked and include instructions. Intensive exercise can lead to some aches, if parents are happy to, I advise that pupils hand in some ibuprofen and paracetamol in case they should have a headache or sore muscles.

Skiing requires strength and fitness. It is often harder for new skiers than experienced skiers. Skiing
Skiing Students will ski with an English speaking ski instructor at all times. Groupings will initially be chosen by previous experience. The ski school will decide if any student needs to move groups. It is an issue of health and safety and something that in the main is not in our hands.
Behaviour We expect the same high standards of behaviour as we would expect in school. Skiing does put us in a more risky situation than in day to day life. If we feel that anyone s behaviour increases that risk then they will not ski. The hotel and our coach are where we live for a week together. They need to be looked after and respected. Supporting each other is so important as skiing can take resilience and determination.
Emergencies and Medical If there is a problem we will call you Trip phone number for emergencies only is: 07719 033460 Medical Details Please update any medical information the school holds in writing as this will be referred to. Medication will be held by the member of staff responsible for each group.
