Page 2 COORPAROO U8 GOLD V MOOROOKA U8 SATURDAY 14 MAY AT MOOROOKA COORPAROO U8 NAVY V MORNINGSIDE U8 YELLOW SATURDAY 14 MAY AT HAWTHORNE PARK The Coorparoo boys dominated the game today. The boys made space in the forward line, allowing effective passes from the Centre to loose Gold players running into an open goal. The boys handballed and kick passed multiple times without the ball touching the ground. Sharing goals in U8 s is just fantastic footy. It was also great to see some of our Gold boys volunteering to help out Moorooka who only had 8 players. The 1st Quarter saw the Centre take control of the game from the first ball up. Xavier, Zac & Toby were delivering plenty of ball to the forwards Rhys, Heath and George. Rhys and Heath shared the ball with each other, using well weighted drop punts. George was the first to kick a major and then Rhys had a lazy snap not much later for another major. The 2nd Quarter saw Toby intercepting any balls that made it into the back line and delivered them perfectly back to Harry and Heath in the Centre, who then moved the ball to our Forwards. Harry and Heath worked well together handballing and kicking to each other. Jackson ran and kicked a major and Finlay kicked three for the quarter. Xavier tried a BIG barrel from a long way out for a point. In the 3rd Quarter, the Backs didn t get a sniff of the ball due to Finlay, Jackson & Xavier owning the Centre. Jackson was taking marks and intercepting balls at will. Finlay and Xavier were giving each other more completion for the loose ball than Moorooka. Captain Zac kicked two goals and off loaded with a handball to Sam allowing him to kick his first goal for Coorparoo Gold this year. The 4th Quarter saw George, Rhys and Sam in the Centre and made it near impossible for Moorooka to get their hands on the ball. Rhys looked great running and delivering perfect drop punt passes to our Forwards. Finlay got himself another goal for the day and off loaded a handball for Harry s goal. Toby made up for not having much luck in front of the goals so far this year with four goals this quarter. Goals on the run, a lovely drop punt on a tight angle and a long goal that went untouched by Finlay or Moorooka. Sam was awarded Player of the Week. Sam kicked his first goal in U8 s. Sam s willingness to play for Moorooka and his attention to playing footy all game today, his manning up and staying in front as we did at training, making space and applying pressure when defending. Great effort, exactly the same next week! COORPAROO Club Song We are the Navy Blues We are the boys / girls from Coorparoo We re the team that will never let you down Because we re the best there is around We are the champions They try to beat us They ll never beat us Because they know that they ve been playing Against the famous Coorparoo.

Page 5 COORPAROO U11DUNSTALL vs SPRINGWOOD U11 GOLD SATURDAY 14 MAY AT GIFFIN PARK COORPAROO U11 GIBSON vs SPRINGWOOD U11 SATURDAY 14 MAY Another beautiful morning for footy, and with a few players out Dunstall were glad to welcome Luka to the team this week giving the team one interchange for the match. Dunstall were off to a flying start with Nikhil in the ruck, Lachie taking a mark to advance the ball to Jack R moving the ball forward for Dunstall s first scoring opportunity. Nikhil took full advantage of Dunstall s hard work to score two goals this quarter, Jimmy was everywhere to tackle the opposition, and make a big clearing kick, Sethmin was hard in defence tackling and with a brave smother, Ben C and Archer tackling hard, and Luka making his mark in his first quarter with a big kick to clear. A penalty in Springwood s forward pocket gave them a scoring chance but at the siren Roos were ahead! Coaches instructions: Remember to mark up, stick to your player in defence and talk more. Quarter 2 saw Jimmy off icing his foot, and unfortunately the momentum seemed to go with him. Springwood were quick to score, and Dunstall had a lot of work to do in defence. Jack R worked well in the ruck and also made a good intercept, Archer and Cian strong in defence and Sethmin a good strong kick to clear. Lachie took an intercept mark, Ben P chased hard, Johnny smothered and followed through for a neat pick up and Luka took a great mark, but no points on the board this quarter for Dunstall. Coaches instructions: They have free players everywhere, play in front and more urgency to the ball. Quarter 3: Jai lifted this quarter to contribute in defence, and also make a strong kick forward, Jack R and Luka worked well from the ruck, jack, Lachie and John, and Archer, Finn and Lachie combined for somegood passages. Nikhil was working hard and kicked accurately for Dunstall s only goal of the quarter, but Springwood raced ahead on the scoreboard. Coaches: Support. Beat them to the ball. Watch where you are kicking. With no interchanges the boys were tiring. Tom was showing more urgency chasing and kicking clear, Jack B and Jack W were running the ball down, Jack R and Luka both put themselves on the line to smother, Luka stopping a goal attempt, Ben C and Finn lifted their tackle count, and there were several good passages of passing involving Nikhil with Jack or Lachie. At one point Nikhil was desperately trying to cover 3 men in defence. Unfortunately another scoreless quarter for Dunstall while Springwood moved ahead. Coaches observations: Springwood were more urgent and played in front. While all boys individually had some good moments, remember to listen the to coaches as they can see things from the sideline you might not notice on the field. Captain and Player of the Match: Nikhil for great attack and scoring all the goals. Play of the Day: Tom for his urgency, particularly in the middle.
