Betmar Coffee News for January 8, 2019 Submitted by Kathy Mace We had six new couples we welcomed to Betmar at coffee today. That is the most I have seen in one week in the 13 years I have done the news. Wow. If you see someone walking around you do not recognize please greet them and let them know what Betmar is all about. This is our family, we love it here and we want everyone else to feel the same. Judi Gearsbeck and Bryan Toll opened coffee today. Bryan gave the invocation and led us in the pledge. Dance Lessons Dance Lessons are held on Fridays at 1:00pm in CH#3 with Ed Myers and Carol Donohue. Lessons are a donation of $2.00 for Betmar residents and $3.00 for people outside Betmar. Friendship Potluck There will be a Friendship Potluck Thurs, Jan 10 at 5:00pm in CH#3. Bring a dish to pass and $1.00 for entertainment and prizes. What Not Sale The annual What Not Sale is Jan 11 & 12. People are needed early (6:30am) on Wed, Jan 9 to set up tables. People are needed to move boxes from the barn to CH#2 on Wed, Jan 9 at 8:00am. Meet at the barn. Betmar baking warriors please donate cookies, brownies, etc. for the big What Not move on Wed, Jan 9 at 8:00am. Please bring the treats to the kitchen window. Please no yard sales during the What Not Sale. The Betmar Resident s sale is Thurs, Jan 10 from 1:00pm-3:00pm. You must wear your Betmar name tag or get a temporary tag at the entrance to CH#2.
Dance Club The Dance Club will hold a General Admission Dance on Sat, Jan 12 at 7:30pm in CH#2 with music by Karl Sapp. Tickets are a donation of $5.00 per person at the door. BAC/Swim Club Meeting The BAC/Swim Club members who are owners are reminded to attend a General Membership Meeting on Mon, Jan 14 at 9:30am in the Annex. A ballot vote will be taken to determine support for replacing the existing washroom/utility building at the small pool. Details are on the white boards at each pool. The Wed aerobics class has been cancelled. Informal Resident Owners Meeting Wed, Jan 16 at 6:00pm in CH#2 there will be an informal resident owners meeting to find solutions to some everyday issues that would make us a happier community. Jude Hall is moderator and presenter. Betmar Dinner The Betmar Dinner will be Thurs, Jan 17 from 4:30pm-6:00pm in CH#2. Dinner is shrimp, augratin potatoes, green beans, waldorf salad & carrot cake. Advanced tickets are required for a donation of $7.00. Call Larry or Donna at 395-3905. Ethel Marie Clark Memorial There will be a memorial for Ethel Marie Clark on Sat, Jan 19 in CH#3. Meet and greet is at 11:00am and a service at noon with food following. Betmar Memorial The Betmar Memorial is Sun, Jan 20 at 2:00pm in CH#2. Cookies and bars are needed. Please leave them in the kitchen in the morning. Blood Mobile The Blood Mobile will be on Tues, Jan 22 from 8:30am-1:30pm outside CH#2. Shredder Event The Betmar Shredder Event will take place on Wed, Jan 23 from 9:00am-11:00am rain or shine in the road by the Betmar Office. Volunteers will be there to unload your vehicle. Artorama The seventh annual Artorama show will be held Sat, Jan 23 from 1:00pm-3:00pm in CH#2 and the Annex. All work displayed will be by Betmar artists. If you wish to show your work in paintings, stain glass, jewelry, woodworking, quilts, wall hangings, clay sculpture, pottery, basket weaving, photography, etc. please complete a sign up sheet located in the main entrance of CH#2 and submit it to the Art Group in the Apache Blue Room.
Dessert Theater The Betmar Dessert Theater presents Laugh Out Loud on Fri, Jan 25 at 7:00pm, Sat, Jan 26 at 2:00pm and Sun, Jan 27 at 7:00pm in CH#2. Dessert will be served. Tickets are a donation of $6.00 with reserved seating. Tickets are available at coffee or call Joanne Stepler. Sisters & Sisters-in-law Luncheon Sisters & Sisters-in-law Luncheon will be Sat, Jan 26 at noon in CH#3. Tickets are a donation of $2.00. Please bring a dish to pass, your table setting and a gift to exchange. Tennis/Pickleball Club Open House and Clinic The Tennis/Pickleball Club will be holding a Pickleball Open House on Mon, Jan 28 from 11:00am-noon. Stop by the courts behind Apache to give it a try, watch it played or just ask questions. Participate in a free 3 day clinic on Jan 30, 31 and Feb 1 and join the Tennis/Pickleball Club for $50 for the year. This saves you the $25 initiation fee. Twelve states are now part of the group including: OH, PA, VA, WV, TN, KY, DE, MD, NJ, NC, SC and DC. To help with the 40th annual picnic please contact Mary Sue Kintzer. Bingo Kitchen Leader Needed David Thiel is looking for someone to be in charge of the Bingo kitchen. He has to retire at the end of April for family obligations. He has taken notes and will teach you what you need to know. Christmas Decorating Committee Volunteers Needed The Christmas Decorating Committee needs help. Please call Mike Mosscrop. This is the group in charge of handing out the decorations. Anyone is welcome to join. This is a fun, small, helpful group. Security News Bill Jackson from Betmar Security asks people to please not cut across or drive carts across other people s yards as a short cut. This is common courtesy. Do not be worried if you see a forensic truck in front of a house (unless it is yours). If someone is found dead in a house investigating the death is common practice. Memorial Photos Linda LaFayette is asking for photos of loved ones from Betmar who have passed in the last year. She makes a collage to be displayed at the Memorial Service. She will return any photos.
