info@deeperafrica.com www.deeperafrica.com Elephant Walk DAY-BY-DAY ITINERARY Classic safari with private guide Elephant Walk focuses on and supports the majestic elephant as the species faces a fight for survival in the face of ivory poaching and habitat loss. Visit the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust that raises, rehabilitates and helps transition orphaned Kenyan elephants back into the wild. See how these baby elephants connect with their caretakers in the Nairobi orphanage and how they prepare for reintegration back into wild at the Ithumba compound in Tsavo National Park. Meet researchers in elephant-dense Amboseli National Park. Connect to this deeply emotional, intelligent and sentinent species who exhibit leadership...survival, and...concepts that are not supposed to be applied to animals: patience, loyalty, love, and joy. Cynthia Moss, Amboseli Elephant Research Project

These orphaned elephants live, play and learn together under the compassionate watch of their inspiring human caretakers, who prepare them to return to the wild. Visit the Moss Research Station, where Cynthia Moss, author of Echo of Elephants, and her Amboseli Elephant Research Project (AERP) team have spent more than 40 years studying some 1,500 elephants in 50 families. Through research, training, community outreach and public awareness, AERP works to ensure the long-term conservation and welfare of Africa s elephants, and to understand the complex communication and social networks within elephant families. With park researchers, tourists and support of the local Maasai people, Amboseli s elephant population is one of the rare few that has lived relatively undisturbed. The population has slowly increased since the late 1970s. Tawi Lodge, on a 6,000 acre private conservancy run in conjunction with the African Wildlife Foundation, offers incredible views of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Includes: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner Swimming Pool, Private guide & private vehicle

View the wild herds roaming freely throughout Tsavo here and watch the close bonds between the family members. The southern area of the park provides an opportunity to see many other wildlife species, particularly the unique Tsavo lion, which neither look nor behave like their Serengeti cousins. Adult males often lack a mane which would normally cause them to be shunned by females and bullied by other males. But here, maneless lions exist in all resident prides and this does not put the lions at a disadvantage. Requiring less water to cool themselves, they can travel longer and farther in search of females and prey. Tsavo prides are made up of single males with 4 to 10 adult females each, larger than the Serengeti s prides. Includes: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner Private guide & private vehicle
